Re: [Bug 1510180] Re: Xorg freeze

2015-11-02 Thread Dipl.-Ing. (FH) Johannes Neugschwentner
thx!!!

I've updated my BIOS.
So far I've had a few crashes ... but it wasn't clear if it's not due to my
new mt7601Usta patched wifi-driver ... usb wifi stick ...

If I see the patterned screen with full freeze again I'll send another bug
report ...
If not, I'll give it a few days and change the bug-report status (if I
don't forget) ...

thx, J

[Bug 1510180] [NEW] Xorg freeze

2015-10-26 Thread Dipl.-Ing. (FH) Johannes Neugschwentner
Public bug reported:

Neither the proprietery nor the open source driver work well for my ATI
graphics card.

The OS driver is the better choice, as it crashes about twice a day and that's
it ...
Crashes = strange patterns filling the screen plus X crashing (Keyboard
combinations don't have effect anymore I think ... tried to quit my code editor
with alt+f4 which should have closed all sourcefiles I was working on, still
some of them were scrambled after reboot)

The proprietary driver works well for some time, then brings on all kinds of
artifacts, displaying old (buffered) parts of windows where they aren't etc.,
for example on mouse scrolling ... unusable really
The Troubleshooting guide says something to check and by trial n error fix this
in the BIOS by trying all AGP APERTURE SIZE settings ... well, I ain't got no
AGP, I got the new stuff (ahemmm ... forget the name ...)
Also, I read it doesn't work with the new kernel of Ubuntu Wily ... so I guess
I'm in luck I switched back in time.

[Bug 557207] Re: use-ipv6.pl has hardcoded port 80

2011-12-20 Thread Florian 'fh' Holzhauer
Just as follow up: This &"ยง$ bug just stopped lighttpd once again after doing a
version update to 1.4.26-1.1ubuntu3.1. Apparently, the bug still exists and
overwrote my modified use-ipv6.pl.
Hence I would now strongly recommend the solution by andy4us to remove the
use-ipv6.pl file from lighttpd.conf, not to patch in the file as I stated above.

[Bug 595956] [NEW] mp3 rip feature

2010-06-18 Thread Dipl.-Ing. (FH) Johannes Neugschwentner
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: amarok

I started to rip my CD's because i feel more comfortable with them directly on
my computer and i can transfer them to my mp3-player. Now I have no problem
with ripping them as ogg vorbis. but unfortunately my mp3-player does not
understand ogg. So i need mp3. But mp3-ripping doesn't work. It just doesn't
start, doesn't even try to read the CD.
I have looked and found that i would need kubuntu-multimedia-restricted (or
similar, don't quite remember - in any case, the one that includes lame
support). it didn't work to install it in the control center but i could
persuade the command line aptitude to do the job. any way, no changes.
so i started using ripoff to do the job - i feel a little alienated in my
multifunctionality-comfort ... whatever, would be nice to have the amarok
feature working

[Bug 557177] Re: init: support mandatory arguments, or prevent starting of tasks without any arguments

2010-04-08 Thread fh
Just to clarify: Neither I nor Thomas escalated this bug to any list -
especially because I never experienced bringing in the trolls helps in
any way. Besides: There are other ubuntu issues that permanently annoy
me again, while I am very certain that I will never again run in the bug
described here ;)

While I have to admit that I was quite pissed by the initial reply, I am
really happy with the result. Not just because of the fast fix, but
because of sjr rethinking the situation and then doing the fix. Most
maintainers and developers tend to stick by their initial solution, so
kudos for that reaction. Thanks.

[Bug 332270] Re: udev repeatedly generates "change" events for the same block device(s)

2009-02-22 Thread FH
I have the same problem. My system is booting without the "watch" Option
now.

My config:
sda1 = /boot
sda2 = crypt->swap
sda3 = crypt->lvm->root

On boot i have seen also a lot of /sys/devices/virtual/block/dm-0 lines.

[Bug 269071] Re: Intrepid regression: default route is no longer redirected over VPN tunnel

2009-02-02 Thread FH
This Bug is not fixed jet. (Release 0.7-0ubuntu1)

n-m-openvpn passes --route-noexec and --up /usr/lib/network-manager-
openvpn/nm-openvpn-service-openvpn-helper to openvpn.

nm-openvpn-service.c:
--
/* do not let openvpn setup routes, NM will handle it */
add_openvpn_arg (args, "--route-noexec");
--
If the openvpn is up, i have two default gateways and btw. old an new
nameservers in /etc/resolv.conf. The NM doesn't remove the old default gateway
and the old nameservers.

2008-09-21 Thread FH

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-input-wacom

I have an Wacom Bamboo Tablet. It works fine on Hardy.

When i tip the stylus on the tablet the mouse-pointer cannot be moved
for 2-20 seconds. The upper buttons (middle + right on an mouse) are
working perfect. Multiple clicks doount help. When the tablet in "delay
mode" and i press ohne of the additional buttons e.g. FN1 the pointer
can be moved.
