[Bug 427268] [NEW] Font hinting set defaultly slight, not full
Public bug reported: When I installed Ubuntu on my new HP Compaq 615, the default font settings looked quite ugly. It was set to [Subpixel smoothing] and to improve the looks I changed it to [Best shapes], which wasn't ideal but it was definetly an improvement. After a few days I noticed the [Details...] button in Appereance dialog and found out that when [Subpixel smoothing] is set, than [Font hinting] is set to slight. After I changed it to full, the font appereance improved incredibly. So after installation Ubuntu should set the default font to Subpixel smoothing and Full hinting. As for now it sets only Subpixel smoothing with Slight hinting, which looks significantly worse, at least on my notebook. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Font hinting set defaultly slight, not full https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/427268 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 232285] [NEW] Subtitle encoding in Totem based on current locale
Public bug reported: I am using Czech localization of Ubuntu and when I watch movies in English I often use Czech subtitles which are in the CP1250 encoding. Hi, I have tried Gutsy Tribe 5 and in the default install, the fonts are too big. I have 17" LCD monitor, 1280x1024. In Appereance Preferences, the Application font and the Document font are set to 11, although in Feisty they are set to 10. The size 10 fonts look MUCH better. -- Font sizes in Gutsy are affected by bad X.org DPI detection https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/118745 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

This bug is related to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source /usplash-theme-ubuntu/+bug/88895, but its status is Fix Released, so I created new one. -- Usplash progress bar not centered on the monitor https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/135319 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 135319] Usplash progress bar not centered on the monitor
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: usplash When Gutsy Tribe 5 is booting, the usplash progress bar is not centered, it's a bit to right. The Ubuntu logo is OK. I have LCD monitor Philips 170B, resolution 1280x1024. [Bug 131081] Re: Should skip account migration entirely if no accounts are present
I also wanted to report this wish - I think that skipping the migration step when nothing can be imported is the best option. -- Should skip account migration entirely if no accounts are present https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/131081 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 102495] Re: 'Always perform this action': Ignore for photo card option doesn't work.
When I plug in my mobile phone k750i, the "Photo Import" dialog appears, I check the checkbox "Always perform this action" and consequently press the "Ignore" button. But when I plug it next time, the dialog appears again - the option "Always perform this action" doesn't work. [Bug 129707] Re: Wish: Smooth progress bar progressing while booting
Maybe it could be done this way: let's say that the booting has 3 "checkpoints" - A, B, C. A - start (0%) B - drivers are loaded C - services are running, system is booted (100%) Before checkpoint A, the system reads from some file - e.g. boottimes - what time last every booting phase (for example, after installation in boottimes is that AB lasts 10 s and BC lasts 50 s). So in every boot, the system reads boottimes and the progress bar behaves depending on the values in boottimes. And while booting it also measures the times (between A and B and C) and writes them in boottimes after booting finishes. And of course, it would be better if the progress bar moved smoothly between every two checkpoints. -- Wish: Smooth progress bar progressing while booting https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/129707 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 86970] Re: Printing from Java does not work
I have Feisty Fawn, java packages sun-java6-* and cups version 1.2.8. When I tried to print from my Java application a message "No print service found" appeared. I googled a solution - create a file /etc/cups/client.conf and put a single line "ServerName localhost" in it (without the quotation marks).
