Was working for me in 14.04 until two days ago. The last one or two

[Bug 1070150] Re: Intermittent low graphics mode with Intel HD graphics

2012-11-10 Thread fjgaude
I've tested this with SSD boot on 12.04, 12.10 and 13.04, all with
success, no issues:

Place this line in /etc/rc.local just before exit 0:

sleep 2 && service lightdm restart

This works everytime for me and my setup. Should give a clue to the
programmers as to what can solve the issue.

I installed gdm and selected it instead of lightdm, rebooted and login
went directly to desktop, hi-res, 3DUnity.

Issue points to how tests is made to determine video card speed.

[Bug 1070150] Re: Intermittent low graphics mode with Intel HD graphics

2012-10-23 Thread fjgaude
I have this same issue with both 12.04 and 12.10... don't think it's a
kernel problem. Using ctrl-alt-F1 at boot-up black screen and using
terminal to issue these: sudo service lightdm restart immediately
brings up the desktop, Unity3D, Intel HD3000, dual SSDs, 8GB RAM.

Seems the parsing of tests for hi-res video card is the issue.

[Bug 943514] [NEW] Intel Z68 chipset will not resume after suspend

2012-02-29 Thread fjgaude
Public bug reported:

On a Z68 Intel chipset motherboard, ASRock Model 68M-ITX/HT, with
i5-2405S CPU, latest UEFI BIOS, computer goes into Suspend but does not
Resume. Have tried many different BIOS settings without success. Booting
is not an issue. Using Ubuntu 12.04 Beta 1. Using Linux-3.2.0-17, 4GB of
SDRAM.

Kernel log seems to show that the problem is an ACPI issue. But I know
of no workarounds. Please help. Thank you!

[Bug 144220] Re: No Rendering of WMFs

2009-01-06 Thread fjgaude
Well, GIMP seems to have a solution, as it can read WMFs just fine. They
may have their own code.

All this came about when 7.04 became 7.10. It would seem to be a lib not
being attached or loaded correctly.

Pray, we get relief soon.

When I click on a WMF file I get an error msg: "There is no application

Yes, yes... easy to create the .fonts folder in the home directory, and
then just add fonts to the folder. But, what then shows is the font file
name and not the font name. A small issue but still an issue. Certainly
the gvfs structure will add the font names when it gets fully converted
over.

[Bug 211817] Re: Epiphany And Attachments

2008-04-04 Thread fjgaude
Okay, when trying to reply to a post in Ununtu Forums in which you wish
to make an attachment you cannot. The Attachments menu drops down but
shows nothing, nothing, blank, like there is a link to file browser
missing.

I'm using latest updates, Hardy, 64-bit, Intel Core 2 Duo E8400, nvidia
7600 GS. See attachment.

Thanks for your efforts to make Hardy the best Ubuntu yet.

[Bug 206279] Re: sftp connection on local network freezes

2008-03-28 Thread fjgaude
With the box I'm having this trouble with, gvfs 0.2.2 is what I'm using
but still have the same issues. OTOH, I installed on another partition
the beta Hardy CD, then installed all the updates, about 200 at once,
and the issue is not there. So we likely have a situation that if you
haven't updated the original beta daily, or something like that, missing
an update or more, then having updates overlay updates, this issue we
are seeing occurs.

I'll keep both installs and keep them updated daily and see what happens
until the release.

Thanks for your interest and desire to make Hardy the best ever.

[Bug 207219] Re: gvfs Issue with LAN

2008-03-27 Thread fjgaude
I did a clear install on another partition of computer of Hardy CD beta,
updated 204 files, didn't add any other programs, then used Ubuntu to
connect to other servers. It worked correctly, could access files
remotely, unmount the server. So...

So it would seem it is how I likely updated the original beta each day,
maybe missing a day or so. Now that install is broken. Will it come back
to being right? Who can say?

Thanks, Pedro, for you quick response. I have attached one of over
10,000 wmf files that would render in Feisty correctly. There is nothing
special about how to go about this, click on the fake thumbnail in the
program window... I have three installs of Gutsy, two 64-bit, one
32-bit. All do the same in gThumb and Nautilus.

Steps, load OS, run Nautilus, go to folder that contains some wmfs and
click on one of them. Nothing but a black screen.

If you wish more info, please let me know.

Regards and thanks again,
tanzen

[Bug 121364] Re: Nautilus WMF file view memory loss

2007-11-27 Thread fjgaude
Well, neither Nautilus nor gThumb render WMF files in Gutsy. They did in
Feisty and still do. There must be a plug-in somewhere that is left out
of Gutsy that is in Feisty. Please fix. And thanks for a great OS.

[Bug 144220] No Rendering of WMFs

2007-09-23 Thread fjgaude
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gthumb

Will you not continue as before to render WMFs? I have over 10,000 of
them.

Thanks,
frank

[Bug 110855] Re: Automatic Sessions Save

Feisty 7.04 does the same thing in the 64-bit version, duall-core, and
also on another machine, non-dual core AMD.

[Bug 110855] Automatic Sessions Save

2007-04-28 Thread fjgaude
Public bug reported:

Running Feisty 7.04 32-bit, AMD dual processor, 2 gigs of RAM.

In System/Preferences/Sessions/Session Options, when the Automatic save
changes to session is checked, the next time I boot, the controls on all
the program windows are lost. The Save the current session works
correctly. The OS is now useless until this is fixed. When I re-boot
into the option where the scripts (Safe Mode, I think) are not run, I'm
left with desktops clean. And all works as it should.

Thanks for a great OS and for looking into this Feisty problem.
