[Bug 2065708] Re: Add Picture button in Background does not allow you to select wallpaper
I presume that this is the apparmor SRU https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apparmor/+bug/2064672 Can confirm that the apparmor changes for oracular work for BCC. I've uploaded to unstable a revert fix. Marco, this is a temporary issue for 24.04 only. In 24.10 (hopefully) we will drop this current version of magpie and X11 support- so there shouldn't be any dependency links. [Bug 2046844] Re: AppArmor user namespace creation restrictions cause many applications to crash with SIGTRAP
Hi - ok - very long thread so not quite sure how best to resolve. I note bubblewrap is marked as confirmed but no resolution. For budgie-control-center - backgrounds - Add Picture I found that the gnome-desktop library libgnome-desktop-3-20 is calling bwrap and that this was failing due to permissions. I worked around this via ``` cat /etc/apparmor.d/bwrap # This profile allows everything and only exists to give the # application a name instead of having the label "unconfined" abi , include profile bwrap /usr/bin/bwrap flags=(unconfined) { userns, # Site-specific additions and overrides. [Bug 2059335] Re: FFe: Sync file-roller 44-1 (main) from Debian unstable (main)
I have done a quick test with ubuntu budgie and nemo. For some unknown reason, the right-click compress option no longer compresses the chosen folder. This worked with the gtk3 version. [Bug 2055534] [NEW] FFe change to ubuntu-desktop-bootstrap installer
Public bug reported: Request A description of the proposed changes, with sufficient detail to estimate their potential impact on the distribution --> Ubuntu Budgie is currently using the snap ubuntu-budgie-installer for its noble dailies. This cannot be maintained by the team by itself for the duration of the LTS due to its links to Canonicals desktop- provision and subiquity projects that are rapidly evolving. [Bug 1972007] Re: budgie-desktop issues after changing fractional scaling on 4K monitors
** Description changed: - Affected systems: Ubuntu Budgie 22.04 LTS + [Impact] + + * Fractional scaling is an inherited option from Ubuntu's +patching to mutter. Budgie supports fractional scaling +through its GNOME Control Center equivalent called +Budgie Control Center + * Through our community forum scaling issues have been reported +when setting fractional scaling. Two key issues: +1. Budgie graphical elements such as the menu and quicknote + popovers are not displayed correctly +2. When the screensaver lock-screen is invoked the whole + desktop violently flashes for several seconds before being + left on a lock-screen with a dialog that is partially/ + not visible + * To support fractional scaling properly under budgie requires +two actions: +1. Inform the user when using fractional scaling that they + need to restart their user session for part 1 above to + be resolved +2. Disable the screensaver lock screen - user needs to be + informed that this will occur when using fractional + scaling + * This bug is resolved in two linked packages +1. budgie-desktop where the message to restart the session + is displayed +2. budgie-control-center where fractional scaling is set + by the user. + + [Test Plan] + + * Without the two package updates these issues occurs as follows: +1. Open budgie-control-center - choose the Displays side tab +2. On the right-hand side of the screen click on the fractional + switch and choose a fractional scaling from the drop-down e.g. + 125% +3. Observe the confirmation message - it just says "Does the display + look OK?" +4. Logout and login +5. Look at the lock settings in budgie-control-settings - displayed - click automatic lock switch to turn on automatic locking + with a period of time - for example 5 minutes and a delay value +6. Wait until the display turns off - wait the further specified time + after the display turns off. +7. Move the mouse and watch the screen flash repeatedly until + the lock screen dialog appears - partially/not at all. [Bug 1970255] Re: ubuntu-bug budgie-control-center --> bug when change language
** Description changed: + [Impact] + + * Multi language users cannot switch from English US to their own + language via Budgie's control center application + + * This is essential capability for users who need to work across + multiple languages. + + * The fix here is to lift the exact same patch as in jammy's GNOME + Control Center that adapts to Ubuntu's specific language patching in + accountservice et al. + + [Test Plan] + + * Start budgie-control-center and navigate to the Region tab + * From the language box confirm that the language is your current language e.g. French. Without the fix the language box will say "English United States" + * Try to set to another language and click the restart session button when prompted. Without the fix, this will fail. + + * Next install from the proposed repo the package budgie-control-center + * logout and login and launch budgie-control-center + * again examine the language. This time the language box will say what your current language is + * Try to set to another language and click the restart session button when prompted. Log back in and check that your chosen language is set correctly. Repeat for any other language you have installed. + + [Where problems could occur] + + * The main issue here is that Ubuntu has a series of specific language and locale patches that Budgie Control Center does not currently work against. + * The patch is taken directly from the current v41 version of GNOME Control Center on jammy and refreshed to remove the fuzz. + * This patch in itself has been carried by Ubuntu since 2019 so its been well tested. + * the risk here is that the patch introduces additional issues in Budgie Control Center - an app that is specific to Budgie and no other desktop environment. + * The risk is deemed low by the team since Budgie Control Center and GNOME Control Center are forked from the same code base + * Budgie Control Center does not carry all the Ubuntu specific patching. I have examined the ubuntu patchwork and the only other patch we don't carry is the addition of the button to launch gnome-language-selector. This isnt needed by Budgie since the app is available from our menu. + + * The package itself has been tested by the Ubuntu Budgie team via a + specific test PPA https://launchpad.net/~ubuntubudgie- + dev/+archive/ubuntu/budgie-control-center switching from Dutch to + english and back to Dutch + + * From a regression mitigation, Budgie already has gnome-control-center + installed - just not visible to users. That can be used via the command + line to perform any issues that we deem as a regression until things are + resolved. + + [Other Info] + + * N/A + + ubuntu-bug budgie-control-center --> I can´t change the language from English (united States) to Português (Portugal) --> And when I try and press the Select button, don’t work and change the format to United States. [Bug 1968142] [NEW] SSH sharing not possible after enabling SSH
Public bug reported: The budgie raspi application includes a SSH sharing option - the intent here is to allow SSH connections remotely to the Pi. This was achieved in 21.10 via openssh-server. In 22.04 by just installing openssh-server, it no longer automatically enables the SSH service - this appears to be a deliberate change in behaviour by the package. Thus the Pi app should now enable the service after installing the openssh-server package rather than assuming the package does the enabling after installing. The change here is low risk - the Pi app does its configuration via a bash script only when initiated by the user. No additional dependencies is required. [Bug 1968081] Re: [FFe] [UIFe] gnome-characters 42
From a Ubuntu Budgie point of view, the new libadwaita app looks out of place in our distro with adwaita's ghastly dark brown colouration. With a GTK_THEME based override the headerbar looks broken with our default theme (i.e. we would have used this to suggest this type of workaround for folk that wants to use a non libadwaita theme). However - we will not die in a ditch on this. If Ubuntu really wants this then we would request that "ubuntu-budgie-meta" be added as affected and we will need to use this UIFe as a way to remove gnome- characters from our seeds - i.e. we will not ship with the app. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1968081 Title: [FFe] [UIFe] gnome-characters 42 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-characters/+bug/1968081/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1967731] Re: Revert VNC option in budgie raspi app
** Description changed: In ubuntu budgie 21.10 our raspi app provided two remote desktop solutions - RDP and VNC. This was achieved through a scripted install and configuration method invoked from an application only visible when running ubuntu budgie on a raspi pi i.e. ARM processor. The VNC option utilised gnome-remote-desktop to achieve the VNC remote desktop solution. Post Ubuntu 22.04 freeze, sync'd from debian was a new gnome-remote- desktop package that dropped the VNC option that our PI app required. Due to the beta freeze we stated in the changelog for v0.17.7 of the package that we were going to temporarily hide this now broken VNC option. We would now like to reinstate VNC to resolve the regression. We have done this in such a way as to not impact what the user interacts with - i.e. doesnt require a UIFE. The previous scripted VNC install and configuration option has been reworked to replace gnome-remote-desktop with x11VNC. This has been tested on the regular desktop ISO (does not show as expected), as well as on a ubuntu 22.04 PI image uplifted with ubuntu- budgie-desktop (shows the now expected two RDP and VNC options) + To clarify - the changes do not require any dependency changes - all + changes are invoked (as previously) through the raspi pi specific app. + ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 22.04 Package: budgie-desktop-environment 0.17.11 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 5.15.0-23.23-generic 5.15.27 Uname: Linux 5.15.0-23-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.11-0ubuntu80 Architecture: amd64 CasperMD5CheckResult: pass CurrentDesktop: Budgie:GNOME Date: Mon Apr 4 09:41:19 2022 InstallationDate: Installed on 2022-01-29 (64 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu-Budgie 22.04 LTS "Jammy Jellyfish" - Alpha amd64 (20220129) PackageArchitecture: all RebootRequiredPkgs: Error: path contained symlinks. [Bug 1967282] [NEW] sync budgie-desktop microrelease v10.6.1
Public bug reported: Upstream budgie-desktop has created a microrelease incorporating just bug-fixes & regressions since the origin v10.6 release From a Debian/Ubuntu view-point this microrelease has the following additional changes beyond v10.6-3/4 1. [Bug 1967265] [NEW] background gdmcheck is displayed constantly in tmux
Public bug reported: New for 22.04 - On logon we have a background check to display a notification of whether gdm is running with budgie - if it is then a notification is displayed informing them that screenlocking will be broken - use lightdm. This check is unreliable - it only sometimes works - and is an annoyance to tmux users since tmux runs /etc/profile.d commands constantly. Really the GDM check should be done within budgie-desktop itself - not on a logon profile script. Recommendation is to remove this script. This will return us to the status-quo as of 21.10 where this check did not exist ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 22.04 Package: budgie-desktop-environment 0.17.10 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 5.15.0-23.23-generic 5.15.27 Uname: Linux 5.15.0-23-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.11-0ubuntu79 Architecture: amd64 CasperMD5CheckResult: pass CurrentDesktop: Budgie:GNOME Date: Thu Mar 31 10:43:32 2022 InstallationDate: Installed on 2022-01-29 (60 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu-Budgie 22.04 LTS "Jammy Jellyfish" - Alpha amd64 (20220129) PackageArchitecture: all SourcePackage: budgie-desktop-environment UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: budgie-desktop-environment (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug jammy third-party-packages -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1967265 Title: background gdmcheck is displayed constantly in tmux To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/budgie-desktop-environment/+bug/1967265/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1967110] Re: libhandy based apps are incorrectly themed with pocillo slim variants
** Description changed: Libhandy apps in 22.04 are incorrectly dark-themed - they default to dark adwaita rather than pocillo when the slim variants are used. It is because libhandy assumes dark & light variants have the suffix "-dark" and "-light" respectively. In Pocillo the convention is Pocillo-dark-slim and Pocillo-light-slim. We will have to adjust the theme name convention to "Pocillo-size- color". [Bug 1962009] Re: Ubuntu Pro is being promoted via community flavours
Seb, whether it is advantageous for favours I can't really say - all I can see on https://ubuntu.com is ubuntu pro for AWS and Azure. I fail to see the immediate relevance for community flavours where desktop/laptop based flavours are asked to support their key packages typically for 3 years (for an LTS). How does Ubuntu Pro help here with the wider archive all flavours use? Obviously not really a discussion point for launchpad - if its covered on discourse together with the relevance for flavours etc then please do advise. [Bug 1955307] Re: ayatana-indicator-application have wrongly located so- and service- files on Jammy Mate/Xubuntu/Budgie
We (Ubuntu Budgie) had this issue with the new x86_64-linux-gnu path - our budgie-indicator-applet needed a no change rebuild to pick up the new path i.e. the path is set at build time - it isn't dynamic. So all is currently well in UB. If it is changed back to /usr/lib/ayatana... then we will need to-do another similar rebuild exercise. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1955307 Title: ayatana-indicator-application have wrongly located so- and service- files on Jammy Mate/Xubuntu/Budgie To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ayatana-indicator-application/+bug/1955307/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1959629] [NEW] lintian hangs during a debuild or sbuild
Public bug reported: Uplifting to the latest lintian on jammy a debuild -S -k0xkey on a package, the debuild never finishes - it gets stuck at the lintian stage. I have to downgrade lintian to the previous version from impish Similarly, running a sbuild on any package, lintian never finishes if I include lintian checks Now I have to workaround via sbuild -d jammy --no-run-lintian my ~/.sbuildrc is # Name to use as override in .changes files for the Maintainer: field # (mandatory, no default!). $maintainer_name='x '; # Default distribution to build. $distribution = "jammy"; # Build arch-all by default. $build_arch_all = 1; # When to purge the build directory afterwards; possible values are "never", # "successful", and "always". "always" is the default. It can be helpful # to preserve failing builds for debugging purposes. Switch these comments # if you want to preserve even successful builds, and then use # "schroot -e --all-sessions" to clean them up manually. $purge_build_directory = 'successful'; $purge_session = 'successful'; $purge_build_deps = 'successful'; # $purge_build_directory = 'never'; # $purge_session = 'never'; # $purge_build_deps = 'never'; # Directory for writing build logs to $log_dir=$ENV{HOME}."/ubuntu/logs"; $run_lintian = 1; $lintian_opts = ['-i', '-I', '--pedantic']; # don't remove this, Perl needs it: 1; All jammy sbuilds have worked before the latest lintian was released. Thoughts as to what is the issue here?
