[Bug 300833] Re: why can recent updates related to HP linux printing system be downloaded and installed from the UPDATE MANAGER section of Ubuntu ?
I confirm that this is occurring with both 7.10 and 8.04 for the same 3 packages. Update manager indicates that there are updates, the install updates button is clicked, the packages seem to download, then an error message for the 3 packages say there is a size mismatch. The same problem happens when trying to update with synaptic or apt-get. ubuntuforums.org is full of users with this problem. Please fix ASAP. --fw -- why can recent updates related to HP linux printing system be downloaded and installed from the UPDATE MANAGER section of Ubuntu ? https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/300833 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 151877] Re: [Gutsy] gnome panel volume control alternates mute/% volume during sliding
Gee, I guess the description was good enough for users to find the bug on Launchpad, confirm it, and add that it was problem they were experiencing. It appears that only devs can't figure out what it is, eh? :) I don't suppose that enough people have reported the bug that it might be fixed for a stable release, like 8.04 LTS? My impression was that LTS was supposed to be as stable as possible with as many bugs fixed as possible. -- [Gutsy] gnome panel volume control alternates mute/% volume during sliding https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/151877 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 151877] gnome panel volume control alternates mute/% volume during sliding
Public bug reported: Gnome panel volume control alternates mute/% volume while being slid to adjust volume. If one stops while it says mute, the mute icon shows in the panel and there is a check next to the mute option when left- clicked. However, the volume is not muted. Left-clicking the volume panel icon and selecting mute does mute the speakers. This is on a Dell Dimension 8300 with a Dell SoundBlaster Live! card and the Alsa mixer with speakers plugged into the speaker-out jack. Marco- Thanks for the reply. But, please don't just send a canned reply to sound problems as it just wastes everyone's time. If you read the problem, you would see that the sound card was detected and is working. The info about the sound card and computer is given. [Bug 108687] Re: Linksys WUSB 11 v. 2.6 and WPC11 v. 4 don't work in Feisty
It looks like the WPC11 v. 4 bug is moving ahead under another number (Bug #99651), so I'll focus on the WUSB 11 v. 2.6 problem. I reinstalled Feisty to get the required information for the kernel devs (dmesg, lspci, etc), plugged in the adapter, and the computer froze hard. . . no keyboard, no touchpad, no mouse, no restarting X--only turning it off with the power button. Unplugged the adapter, rebooted, plugged adapter back in. . . same thing. Unplugged the adapter, and turned the laptop off. Plugged in the adapter, started the computer up - kernel panic. So, of all the things requested by the kernel devs, the only thing I can supply is a uname: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/etc/network$ uname -a Linux ubuntu 2.6.20-15-generic #2 SMP Sun Apr 15 07:36:31 UTC 2007 i686 GNU/Linux With this new info, I think the bug should probably be moved to kernel. [Bug 108687] Re: Linksys WUSB 11 v. 2.6 and WPC11 v. 4 don't work in Feisty
** Description changed: With both 6.06 LTS and 6.10, the above WiFi cards have worked automatically with native drivers--no ndiswrapper needed. They are both in the WiFi wiki as being supported in Ubuntu Dapper and above. Now with my new install of 7.04, neither of them work. With a ifconfig or iwconfig, nothing shows up, except for the loopback adapter. In 7.04, a lspci for the WPC 11 shows the same info as for 6.10 given below. A uname command in 7.04 obviously gives the default kernel. With 6.10, the WPC 11 (which is a pc card) reports after a lspci: 06:00.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8180L 802.11b MAC (rev 20) With the USB adapter, in 6.10 all I get with a lsusb command is: Bus 001 Device 003: ID 077b:2219 Linksys WUSB11 V2.6 802.11b Adapter So, I don't know what driver it is using in 6.10. But, I can say for sure that I am very frustrated that they won't even be detected, let alone work, in 7.04 I've searched ubuntuforums.org and tried Google, and a lot of people have this problem (you might want to sneek a peek--there are lots of problems with network-manager and folks seem to be having better luck with wicd: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=414594highlight=linksys+wpc11 plus others). Because I cannot use Feisty, I uninstalled it and cannot provide additional lspci or lsusb info. + + Please see posts 4 5, below, for further information. The WPC11 v. 4 + bug seems to have been picked up by another bug report. The focus of + this report should be shifted to WUSB 11. v 2.6, and I've included the + only additional info for the kernel devs that I could (uname) since + plugging in the adapter before booting causes a kernel panic and after + booting causes a hard freeze that requires a power cycle reset. -- Linksys WUSB 11 v. 2.6 and WPC11 v. 4 don't work in Feisty https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/108687 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
