[Bug 1764778] Re: Problems with SSSD + pam mount
As we are not understanding the problem ourselves, we are not in the position to pinpoint which package is responsible for the problem. SSSD and pam mount are just the main two packages installed by us for our domain setup. Thats why I included both of them in the bug report. There are no problems with reading or writing files such as text files in folders that are mounted by pam_mount. But if I am not mistaken, the settings described as not working above are also saved in the users home directory? The output of sudo mount -t cifs //server.domain/home/testuser on /home/testuser type cifs (rw,relatime,vers=default,cache=strict,username=testuser,domain=DOMAIN,uid=826404655,forceuid,gid=826400513,forcegid,addr=XX.XX.XX.X,file_mode=0755,dir_mode=0700,soft,nounix,serverino,mapposix,rsize=1048576,wsize=1048576,echo_interval=60,actimeo=1) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1764778 Title: Problems with SSSD + pam mount To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libpam-mount/+bug/1764778/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1764778] [NEW] Problems with SSSD + pam mount
Public bug reported: In our IT-Department we are preparing ourselves for Ubuntu 18.04. While doing so, we discovered, that Domain Users loging into Ubuntu with their home Directories mounted through pam-mount can not modify the icons in the Sidebar and are also unable to activate certain settings. What we discovered so far is: 1. They can not change their Keyboard Layout. 2. They can not apply "show hidden files" in nautilus. 3. They can not change the icons in the sidebar (as mentioned) What could be the Problem here and how should we go about solving it? How to reproduce it: 1. Join Client to domain via net ads join -U administrator 2. Restart SSSD Daemon 3. Configure pam_mount.conf.xml as such: 4. Restart 5. Log in with a domain user Everything seems to work, all files appear in the home directory, but the problems above occur. Doing the exact same thing in Ubuntu 16.04 works. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: bionic pam sssd ** Tags added: bionic ** Tags added: pam sssd ** Description changed: In our IT-Department we are preparing ourselves for Ubuntu 18.04. [Bug 1603659] Re: Power Management: USB mouse and keyboard laggy and loosing events
Hi, I just changed from Ubuntu 14.04 (flawlessly working) to 16.04 and experienced a similar behavior of my Logitech, Inc. Cordless Mouse: after a few seconds of inactivity, the mouse exhibits a lagging behavior. Interestingly, using a USB cord connected mouse does not show this behavior. I searched the WWW and tried all proposed actions without success. However, I have not found THIS bug report. Finally, as a last random resort, I decided to fully disable the laptop mode ENABLE_LAPTOP_MODE_TOOLS=0 in /etc/laptop-mode/laptop-mode.conf and the problem disappeared. After that finding I searched the web regarding bugs in laptop mode and found this entry. A few information: lsusb yields (only the interesting line displayed here): Bus 003 Device 002: ID 046d:c501 Logitech, Inc. Cordless Mouse Receiver Relevant output of usb-devices: T: Bus=03 Lev=01 Prnt=01 Port=02 Cnt=01 Dev#= 2 Spd=1.5 MxCh= 0 D: Ver= 1.10 Cls=00(>ifc ) Sub=00 Prot=00 MxPS= 8 #Cfgs= 1 P: Vendor=046d ProdID=c501 Rev=09.10 S: Manufacturer=Logitech S: Product=USB Receiver C: #Ifs= 1 Cfg#= 1 Atr=a0 MxPwr=50mA I: If#= 0 Alt= 0 #EPs= 1 Cls=03(HID ) Sub=01 Prot=02 Driver=usbhid I did not find any error or warning messages in the log files. [Bug 1586528] Re: Avahi-daemon withdraws address record
Same here with 16.04.2 (4.8.0-58-generic x86_64, no VM) and Realtek8111 (PCI 10ec:8168 rev 06). Worked before with 12.04, now it's shutting down the interface every few days. [Bug 1539209] Re: pulseaudio crashed with SIGABRT in pa_alsa_path_set_volume()
I probably figured out the reason for the crashes. Can someone please test this patch: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/153418/ Patch is against current git but should apply well to older PA versions. Hey folks, had the same issue. fonts-roboto-hinted was already installed. I tried adding fonts-roboto (didn't solve it) and then fonts-roboto-fontface and fonts-roboto-unhinted. That did the trick. [Bug 1593202] [NEW] difference in modified file timestamp exFAT volumes win7 vs. linux
Public bug reported: Linux netbook 4.4.0-24-generic #43-Ubuntu SMP Wed Jun 8 19:27:37 UTC 2016 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux exfat V 1.2.3 Camera, Win7 and Linux are in same timezone (Central European + Daylight savings), thus UTC+2:00 Exfat formatted SD card is used. Pictures taken by camera and files saved from Win7 show on the Windows computer the correct modified time for the file and the picture. File time stamp of the pictures agree with EXIF time data. Same files show 1 hour difference on the Linux machine: e.g. -rwx-- 1 georg georg 33 2016-06-14 15:19:12.0 +0200 File created at local time 1419 on Win7.txt identify -verbose DSC00937.JPG ... I also tried to mount with the option tz=UCT and time_offset=60. No change in behavior. The same test were repeated for a FAT formatted SD card. In this case two hour difference (probably somewhat correct reflecting +2:00 between UTC and local time). Mounting the fat with tz=UTC ==> no change, Mounting with time_offset=120 allevialtes the difference. Exfat is the more advanced file system. [Bug 1507128] [NEW] kubuntu-driver-manager: black screen after boot
Public bug reported: Well, that's an issue since the existence of the driver manager, basically, but it's time to open a bug report since I work around it for years now after every fresh install. It's very well documented in the archlinux wiki. I don't understand the kcm plugin layout and how to debug it properly, but I may look into it anyway, but for people familiar with it it shouldn't be hard to fix. Bug Description: If there is an intel card installed (on board), and you have a seperate NVidia card by installing a proprietary driver, booting the kernel will result in: - The kernel loading modeset due to the intel driver supporting it - The NVidia card/driver not supporting it, resulting in a black screen. No, you never ever get out of the black screen. Therefore, the option "nomodeset" for the kernel needs to be set (/etc/default/grub => GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="nomodeset quiet splash"), and update-grub2 needs to be run. I know this results in an uglier boot mode, but due to NVidia not supporting modeset, there is no option if the proprietary driver is installed than to choose this option! Otherwhise, users end up with a disfunctional system. 100 % reproducable on 3 PCs I have. ** Affects: kubuntu-driver-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1507128 Title: kubuntu-driver-manager: black screen after boot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kubuntu-driver-manager/+bug/1507128/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1479093] Re: Segfault in ld-2.19.so while starting Steam after upgrade to 3.13.0-59.98
I can confirm segfaults after updating the kernel to 3.13.0-59 on various 64 Bit machines. Its related to shelling out commands from 32 bit executables. [Bug 1458365] [NEW] incorrect decimal separator in German install
Public bug reported: With the ubuntu-15.04-desktop-amd64 install (and most likely all others, too), when having selected German as the language, the system states that a hard disk of at least 6.6 GB is required. However, in German the decimal separator is not a point but a comma, so it should be 6,6 GB. Please note that the same is true for certain other languages such as e.g. French (I didn't check whether the same issue comes up when selecting French as the install language). [Bug 1455914] [NEW] usb ports dies under certain known circumstances
Public bug reported: I bougth a brand new Lenovo Z710 for my mother in law who is near 80. In stead of trying to teach her win8, I installed Ubuntu desktop 14.04 on it, without even bothering to go through the win8 installation. Apart from ubuntu standard software I've installed teamviewer (she lives 100km away), wine (there are some win programs she wants), a danish-english dictionary (under wine) and photofiltre 7 (under wine). It works like a charm right out of the box - except, if I boot or resume it with anything in the external usb ports, the external usb ports dies (not shure about the internal ones) ubuntu acts normal except the external usb ports - power is there but nothing gets detected. However if I boot it up without anything plugged in, I can later plug in an external mouse and hd's without any problems. I've googled and search everywhere without finding anything useful, I've tried an other kernel, I've switch form UEFI boot to legacy boot and back, I've tested the usb 2 and the usb 3 ports, I've reinstalled and I've of course tried an other mouse and other usb hardware - everything without getting any wiser. The only thing I've not done is to install win8. From what I can see in dmesg (I'm far from an expert) the usb behaves normally untill right before the end of the boot process, the mouse are detected and installed but doesn't work and lsusb shows no devices at all. I've attached dumps of lsusb and dmesg in working and non-working state plus some additional information and really hope someone at launchpad can help out.
