[Bug 1844188] [NEW] docker fails to build image that users ASP.Net Core

2019-09-16 Thread Gerardo Martínez
Public bug reported:

The issue is very similar as the one reported here:
https://github.com/dotnet/core/issues/3312
(I was getting the same error)

I solved it by selecting a previuos kernel when restarting and the
executing:

sudo apt-get purge linux-image-5.0.0.27-generic

sudo apt-get purge linux-headers-5.0.0.27-generic

To remove the kernel with the issue.

Now I'm running with kernel 4.18 and all the docker images were sucessfully
built.

accidentally booted the efi bootloader instead of the normal one..
tried installing again after booting the proper disc selection and
worked … thanks for the feedback..

No, th fix #3 does not work, nor the GRUB or EFI boot loader setup fail,
Ubuntu 18.04 can not be installed with this, the bug is still there.

Title:
(EFI on top of legacy install) choosing "replace" or "resize" options
in partitioning may lead to an install failure

Status in partman-efi package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed
Status in ubiquity package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
If I have existing data on disk built by a previous version of Ubuntu
(in BIOS (legacy) mode, or a previous Windows install, and no EFI
system partition on disk; the installer presents three choices:

  - Replace $existing and reinstall. (if a previous Ubuntu install was found)
  - Resize and install
  - Erase disk and install.

The first two options will attempt to complete the installation in EFI
mode (as they should) but do not create an EFI system partition, which
is required as a place to put shim and grub on disk for booting. The
installer will then crash / fail as grub-install fails to find the ESP
  when copying the bootloader.

The last option works correctly, it creates the ESP as it erases the
entire disks and proceeds with new partitioning.

Same problem after an upgrade from 16.04 to 16.10 via "do-release-
upgrade". However in my case the issue occurred not for a Wired
connection, but for a Mobile Broadband connection (device ttyUSB2 of
type gsm over interface ppp0). Comment 7 fixed the issue.

https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1658921

Same problem after an upgrade from 16.04 to 16.10 via "do-release-
upgrade". However in my case the issue occurred not for Ethernet or
Bluetooth, but for Mobile Broadband (device ttyUSB2 of type gsm over
interface ppp0). So, the changelog comment 'we definitely want NM to
manage wifi and mobile data' is not really holding. Could it be the
author erroneously supposed mobile data is only transferred over the
wwan interface? In that case, the issue should indeed be fixed.

[Bug 1508718] Re: NetworkManager - error initialzing editor

2016-04-01 Thread gerardo
I have the same problem, using a Huawei E173 under Ubuntu 15.10.

I confirm that connections remain editable before reboot, when created
through nm-applet. This works both for those created using 'Edit
Connections' as for those created using the "New Mobile Broadband
connection" menu item (menu item of nm-applet showing up when modem is
registered, without any existing configured connections).

Two other observations:
1. When I create a new connection using "New Mobile Broadband connection", and
edit it immediately afterwards, I don't see any APN configured. As the
connection works, I nevertheless assume that this information is somehow
available to NetworkManager.
2. System Settings -> Network -> Mobile Broadband -> Add new connection:
nothing happens

[Bug 1537482] [NEW] nm-applet regularly crashes at logon, in combination with failing 3G connection

2016-01-24 Thread gerardo
Public bug reported:

I'm running Ubuntu 15.10 with network-manager 1.0.4-0ubuntu5.2.

Regularly (if not always) the nm-applet icon is not showing in the Unity
panel after logon. Syslog shows these error messages:

Jan 23 21:07:21 desk1 gnome-session[3904]: (nm-applet:4812): nm-applet-WARNING

Jan 24 09:42:38 desk1 gnome-session[19922]: message repeated 3 times: [
(nm-applet:20700): nm-applet-WARNING **: ModemManager is not available for

Jan 24 09:42:38 desk1 gnome-session[19922]:
nm-applet:ERROR:applet-device-broadband.c:644:get_icon: assertion failed: (info)

Manually starting nm-applet from a Terminal works, sometimes however
only after some attempts where error messages similar to the ones above
are shown (btw, even when succeeding, the first 2 warning/error messages
on the ss signature and the ShellVersion show up). Once nm-applet is
started, the 3G modem connection signal bars are shown and sometimes
indeed a network connection (through 3G modem) is available. Often
however, several manual disconnect and subsequent connect operations are
needed before having the network connection really up and running.

I suspect hence that there is an issue with my ModemManager and/or
NetworkManager configuration or implementation, and that nm-applet is
not robust enough to properly deal with these connection failures.

[Bug 1385441] Re: Can't unlock the screen in Ubuntu 14.10

2014-11-18 Thread Gerardo
Same problem for me.

Lock screen works fine, but if I try to unlock after few minutes, I got the
password prompt again.
I got access to my Ubuntu laptop (14.10) only forcing a power cycle, pressing
the power button for 5 seconds.

Local user for me as well and it's probably hard to troubleshoot seen I cannot
do anything but trying login.
FYI: If I put the wrong password, it recognizes the password is wrong.

If you need any further info from my side, please let me know.

Thanks

GF

[Bug 748993] Re: SFS Windows7 does not start any more after Ubuntu's installation

2012-10-22 Thread Gerardo Valdez
Sadly, here too. I just tried to install ubuntu on a HP Tablet PC 2740p,
creating 3 partitions (one for OS, one for docs, and another for swap) Crashed
the first time, tried it again and after that I'm still not able to start on
Windows neither Ubuntu. I tried with Testdisk but looks there is a problem
installing ubuntu with logical partitions in a HD with SFS from Windows.
http://paste.ubuntu.com/1296610/
I just want to say that i'm a Linux user so I didn't had plans to use Win, I
left it because of warranty purposes. I will say that Ubuntu can lost a lot of
people if this bug is not fixed soon.

Originally there was no sound, I modified the file /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-

now I have sound (maybe that model is not the best option), but when I
plug the headphones there is sound from the speakers and the headphones.
I installed gnome alsa mixer but it doesn't open. thanks

[Bug 851055] Re: [Oneiric] 'Not Authorized' error given when mounting device

2012-02-09 Thread Gerardo Lisboa
Just made a clean 64bit install from alternate (for RAID and LVM) same
problem.

Solved by
  sudo apt-get remove lightdm
  sudo apt-get install gdm

  reboot in recovery mode
add myself to sudo group (/etc/group and /etc/gshadow)
  reboot normally

  sudo apt-get install lightdm
  sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop

  sudo bash
  passwd root
System Definitions -> User Accounts -> unlock (use root password)
  make myself an Admin user

For some reason I had lost my admin rights too so I had to do those
extra steps do recover it (why?).

Now Hibernate and Suspend are also option on the Gear button.

(while in gdm the desktop start was *much* slower).

`help' is a function from the file /usr/share/octave/3.2.4/m/help/help.m

 -- Command: help NAME
Display the help text for NAME. If invoked without any arguments,
`help' prints a list of all the available operators and functions.

For example, the command `help help' prints a short message
 describing the `help' command.

The help command can give you information about operators, but not
the comma and semicolons that are used as command separators. To
get help for those, you must type `help comma' or `help semicolon'.

Additional help for built-in functions and operators is
available in the on-line version of the manual. Use the command
`doc ' to search the manual index.

2011-05-18 Thread Gerardo Castro
Yes! Solved!!

Thank you Roman Bazalevsky.

I found the folowing line in .bashrc:

xmodmap ~/.Xmodmap

I simply commented the line and it works! (Apparently no secondary
effects having it commented)

(: Happy :)

Thanks for all the people that worked trying to solve this bug.

Refering to question (3), tha answer I gave you in last mail was not
totally OK.
The correct answer is: - Up key does work (shows me previously typed
command), but down key doesn't work (I can't go back to earlier typed
commands)

- - No. Closing terminal does not restore normal bahaviour.

> 2- When you are in a empty terminal hitting up/down key, can you see
the commands you has typed in others day?

- - After I open the terminal, I can't use down arrow keys in any window,
including terminal. If I do the procedure described in last mail
(changing keyboard distribution), I can use normally arrows, including
in terminal (until I open a terminal window again)

> 3- If you have visual effect enabled (system-preference-aspect-visual
effect) try setting on nothing and reproduce the bug ( to see if window
manager is involved)

- - Disabling visual effects does not solve the problem. (I have compiz
installed)

Removing completelly these two packets and then installing again does
not solve the problem.

I'll try to answer in detail:

> At a minimum, we need:
> 1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
> problem,

I open my session in gnome and do the actions anyone does: open text
editor, web navigatos, mail client, etc. All is ok until I open a
terminal window (going aplications->Accesories->Terminal, or clicking a
launcher I have in my panel or in my desktop). After openning a
terminal, when I want to use down arrow key or end key in any program,
it simply does not work neither in the terminal, where down arrow is
very usefull to navigate already typed commands nor in any program, i.e.
navigator or text editor, so I can't use the arrow to navigate the pages.

> 2. the behavior you expected, and

I expect that when I want to use down arrow key, I don't have to do the
rare procedure I describe in point 3).

> 3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as
possible).

I have fouund that I have two options to partially solve this problem:

i) press Num Lock and work with numeric pad as a page navigator or

ii)go to Sistem->preferences->keyboard->distribution_tab and change my
keyboard distribution (actually I had found that there are 2
distributions that behavies similar so I switch between them each time I
have the problem).

None of the two procedures are good at all to me, number i) because it's
much easier to navigate with arrows than with keypad, and number ii)
bacause it is not funny for me to change my keyboard distribution each
time I open a terminal.

> Thanks!
>

Thank you for your intrest and for your work, and anything else you want
to know about the problem, just ask me.
I fully enjoy the O.S. and I would like this problem getting solved.

Greetings

[Bug 434197] [NEW] grub-pc takes up to 40 seconds to show boot menu

2009-09-21 Thread Gerardo Castro
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: grub-pc

I have installed karmik alpha6 just a few days ago from live-cd. I used the
same /home partition I was using with jaunty
I have dual boot too, so I can boot XP, that is located in a separated disk.
The problem is that when booting, it shows to me the Starting Grub message, and
it takes from 30 to 40 seconds to show boot menu. In the meanwhile, It does
some disk read, like looking for something.
I dont know if there is a configuration issue, because I have not found
documentation to lead with this problem, nor google search has brougth nothing
related with this.

Thank you

[Bug 433355] [NEW] Down Arrow stops working when open a new terminal window

2009-09-19 Thread Gerardo Castro
Public bug reported:

I am just working in any window in which you use the arrow keys to
navigate. Sometimes (if not everytime), when I open a new terminal
window, down arrow key stops working (it is very anoying tring to
navigate down when i.e. editing a text), neither works "end" key. I can
parcially repair the problem going
Sistem>Preferences>Keyboard>Distributions and changing keyboard model
(from ACPI standard to generic 104 keys or viceversa). But it is only
for a moment, because if I open a new terminal it gets broken again.

Alpha 6 goes very well! Waiting for final
Thank you!

[Bug 348332] Re: [RV250] Kubuntu: X Freezes with Radeon driver EXA/XAA Composite

2009-09-16 Thread Gerardo Campos
I have been having the freezes problem, at least every 30 minutes,

I tried all the following suggestions.

1. Setting to none the visual effects
2. Removing compiz
3. Updating the /etc/X11/xorg.conf to several recommendations,

Doing all of the above, reduced the problem to one freeze per day.

I found that updating the kernel to 2.6.29.6 fixed my problem, that
eventually allowed me to:

1. Restored /etc/X11/xorg.conf to the default settings
2. Reinstall compiz
3. Set visual effects to normal.

I have been running this for 3 days, and no freeze yet.

[Bug 390712] [NEW] linux kernel 2.6.28-13-generic does not boot

2009-06-22 Thread Gerardo Castro
Public bug reported:

lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 9.04
Release:9.04

I have just update kernell with update manager from 2.6.28-11-generic to
2.6.28-13-generic.
When I select this kernell to boot from grub, it shows a message something like
"bad executable" ant returns to boot menu. I don't have problems to boot
2.6.28-11 then.

I think this has nothing to do with the reported bug (amsn will not
connect)

[Bug 361628] Re: Jaunty: Kde silently dies during startup

2009-04-22 Thread Gerardo Contreras
I'm having this same problem right now. Compositing is disabled. It
seems it happens when loading ksmserver. I started a fail safe session,
then loaded plasma, and everything loaded ok, except by ksmserver which
crashes in the same way.

Re: [Bug 351406] Re: [Dell Inc. Inspiron 1520] suspend/resume failure [non-free: nvidia]

2009-04-08 Thread Gerardo Contreras

Hey! It's actually great nobody else has this problem!

:)

Just in case, plasma gets frozen from time to time when the laptop is switched
from Powersave to Performance energy profile. To give more accuracy to the
report, it seems that it happens when plasma tries to activate the desktop
effects. If I set the energy configuration to not activate effects when
switching to Performance, everything works well.

Este problema ya fue corregido en la actualización del 3 de abril. Ya no
deberías de tener problemas.

This problem was fixed on the april 3 update. You shouldn't have any more
