(if a previous Ubuntu install was found) - Resize and install - Erase disk and install. The first two options will attempt to complete the installation in EFI mode (as they should) but do not create an EFI system partition, which is required as a place to put shim and grub on disk for booting. The installer will then crash / fail as grub-install fails to find the ESP when copying the bootloader. The last option works correctly, it creates the ESP as it erases the entire disks and proceeds with new partitioning. [Bug 1508718] Re: NetworkManager - error initialzing editor
I have the same problem, using a Huawei E173 under Ubuntu 15.10. I confirm that connections remain editable before reboot, when created through nm-applet. This works both for those created using 'Edit Connections' as for those created using the "New Mobile Broadband connection" menu item (menu item of nm-applet showing up when modem is registered, without any existing configured connections). Two other observations: 1. When I create a new connection using "New Mobile Broadband connection", and edit it immediately afterwards, I don't see any APN configured. As the connection works, I nevertheless assume that this information is somehow available to NetworkManager. 2. System Settings -> Network -> Mobile Broadband -> Add new connection: nothing happens -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1508718 Title: NetworkManager - error initialzing editor To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager-applet/+bug/1508718/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 748993] Re: SFS Windows7 does not start any more after Ubuntu's installation
Sadly, here too. I just tried to install ubuntu on a HP Tablet PC 2740p, creating 3 partitions (one for OS, one for docs, and another for swap) Crashed the first time, tried it again and after that I'm still not able to start on Windows neither Ubuntu. I tried with Testdisk but looks there is a problem installing ubuntu with logical partitions in a HD with SFS from Windows. http://paste.ubuntu.com/1296610/ I just want to say that i'm a Linux user so I didn't had plans to use Win, I left it because of warranty purposes. I will say that Ubuntu can lost a lot of people if this bug is not fixed soon. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/748993 Title: SFS Windows7 does not start any more after Ubuntu's installation To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/748993/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

After openning a terminal, when I want to use down arrow key or end key in any program, it simply does not work neither in the terminal, where down arrow is very usefull to navigate already typed commands nor in any program, i.e. navigator or text editor, so I can't use the arrow to navigate the pages. > 2. the behavior you expected, and I expect that when I want to use down arrow key, I don't have to do the rare procedure I describe in point 3). > 3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). I have fouund that I have two options to partially solve this problem: i) press Num Lock and work with numeric pad as a page navigator or ii)go to Sistem->preferences->keyboard->distribution_tab and change my keyboard distribution (actually I had found that there are 2 distributions that behavies similar so I switch between them each time I have the problem). None of the two procedures are good at all to me, number i) because it's much easier to navigate with arrows than with keypad, and number ii) bacause it is not funny for me to change my keyboard distribution each time I open a terminal. > Thanks! > Thank you for your intrest and for your work, and anything else you want to know about the problem, just ask me. [Bug 434197] [NEW] grub-pc takes up to 40 seconds to show boot menu
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: grub-pc I have installed karmik alpha6 just a few days ago from live-cd. I used the same /home partition I was using with jaunty I have dual boot too, so I can boot XP, that is located in a separated disk. The problem is that when booting, it shows to me the Starting Grub message, and it takes from 30 to 40 seconds to show boot menu. In the meanwhile, It does some disk read, like looking for something. I dont know if there is a configuration issue, because I have not found documentation to lead with this problem, nor google search has brougth nothing related with this. [Bug 433355] [NEW] Down Arrow stops working when open a new terminal window
Public bug reported: I am just working in any window in which you use the arrow keys to navigate. Sometimes (if not everytime), when I open a new terminal window, down arrow key stops working (it is very anoying tring to navigate down when i.e. editing a text), neither works "end" key. I can parcially repair the problem going Sistem>Preferences>Keyboard>Distributions and changing keyboard model (from ACPI standard to generic 104 keys or viceversa). But it is only for a moment, because if I open a new terminal it gets broken again. Alpha 6 goes very well! Waiting for final Thank you! [Bug 348332] Re: [RV250] Kubuntu: X Freezes with Radeon driver EXA/XAA Composite
I have been having the freezes problem, at least every 30 minutes, I tried all the following suggestions. 1. Setting to none the visual effects 2. Removing compiz 3. Updating the /etc/X11/xorg.conf to several recommendations, Doing all of the above, reduced the problem to one freeze per day. I found that updating the kernel to 2.6.29.6 fixed my problem, that eventually allowed me to: 1. Restored /etc/X11/xorg.conf to the default settings 2. Reinstall compiz 3. Set visual effects to normal. I have been running this for 3 days, and no freeze yet. I'm having this same problem right now. Compositing is disabled. It seems it happens when loading ksmserver. Re: [Bug 351406] Re: [Dell Inc. Inspiron 1520] suspend/resume failure [non-free: nvidia]
Hey! It's actually great nobody else has this problem! :) Just in case, plasma gets frozen from time to time when the laptop is switched from Powersave to Performance energy profile. To give more accuracy to the report, it seems that it happens when plasma tries to activate the desktop effects. If I set the energy configuration to not activate effects when switching to Performance, everything works well.
