[Bug 966514] [NEW] SSO information lost on network error
Public bug reported: My home network is very slow so while downloading packages there might be dns failures or general connection failures. The software center asks for single sign on credentials every time recommendations are shown (home screen, graphics / game / internet... screen) even if I click on cancel. When the network works again I can login to SSO and recommendations are shown, login credentials are lost the next time my network is overcrowded. What you expected to happen: Error message reporting network failure. What happened instead: Annoying login window. Appearing on nearly every click while using software-center. I also can reproduce this if I use a lan which blocks all outgoing requests. ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 Package: software-center 5.1.13.2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-20.32-generic 3.2.12 Uname: Linux 3.2.0-20-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 1.95-0ubuntu1 Architecture: amd64 Date: Tue Mar 27 20:53:08 2012 EcryptfsInUse: Yes InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS Precise Pangolin - Alpha amd64 (20120325) PackageArchitecture: all ProcEnviron: TERM=xterm LANG=de_DE.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: software-center UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: software-center (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug precise -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/966514 Title: SSO information lost on network error To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/software-center/+bug/966514/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 790378] [NEW] very high memory consumtion (pdftopdf)
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: cups I just printed out two different PDF files (I will attach one of them) and after a few secounds my computer was running out of memory (2GB) and also started to fill the swap after a few seconds (4GB) wich slowed down my computer a lot, I could only check out what happend using another VT. Well I already printed a lot PDF files and this never happened, even whole books thought. Would be nice if someone could try to reproduce this bug by printing the attached file. If it works fine for others I will somehow try to run a debugger or leak detection program but I think this will be quite challenging with 6GB mem consumption. BTW: After either the kernel killed (did not find any logs about that) the service or it worked out somehow, the pdf was printed well. [Bug 301958] Re: [needs-packaging] no working driver for sis 671/771 video cards
As far as I am concerned, it's the exact same. He compiled the driver which was published by Antonio some time ago. The nice thing is, that he made a deb package which makes installing a lot easier + he didn't made a debug build which makes the whole driver a lot smaller (and maybe faster but I can't say that for sure, I think that would only be the case if you use a debugger). So 1280x800 should work, too! Test it and report your results (maybe you should backup your old driver). OK, the first should work even if there is an error make[2]: *** No rule to make target `sis6...@driver_man_suffix@', needed by `all-am'. Stop. This is no fatal error. Try sudo make install in the directory then the driver files should be copied to /usr/local/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/sis671_drv.* This is just a misconfiguration in the makefile I think. -- [needs-packaging] no working driver for sis 671/771 video cards https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/301958 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 301958] Re: [needs-packaging] no working driver for sis 671/771 video cards
I'm sorry that you might have gotten me wrong. I did not want to be arrogant or what ever. I hope, as you do, that this bug will be fixed as fast as possible, because I am using it, too. But to be serious, Ubuntu developers have no time and experience to support you when having problems with drivers not shipped by Ubuntu. (Do not get me wrong at this point! I hope they will ship it in the future!) I never tried compiling the sisimedia (or any other sis mirage 3+ driver) for 64bit systems, I only thought it should work according to comment 3 and 4 at http://estebanordano.com.ar/sis-m671m672-driver-for-xorg-xserver-7-5-on-debian-sidux/ so I am sorry if I might have been wrong. I am currently downloading Lucid 64bit to test it out! If it does not work you might have the ability to use the VESA driver, just try to boot the lifecd with vga=771 you will have a small resolution but this can be fixed with xorg.conf. This worked for me on first Lucid boot. But as I said before, tricks as vga=771 should not be needed to boot a linux distribution that focusses on usability. If other linux distributions support X.Org X Server 1.7 on 64bit one might extract the source code and recompile it for Lucid. Maybe the compiled version would do the job, too. By the way... why do you use 64bit? Won't 32bit or maybe 32bit pae do the job, too? What is marked as not to be fixed? What you posted elsewhere was a problem with an old driver, this has not to be fixed by Ubuntu devs because it is no part of Ubuntu yet. Regarding the blog linked by Ricardo #96 the driver works with 64bit. Why do you want to compile an old driver? Is the shipped driver not working? What graphics card do you use exactly? I completely support Pander: SIS Mirage is very tricky to set up using Lucid. When I boot up my laptop from live CD I get a black screen at first. vga=771 is buggy, too! When Ubuntu is set up at first there is no problem to install sisimedia if you know how. The driver exists and does work. Where is the point not to publish it in Ubuntu? [Bug 480732] [NEW] Rhythmbox creates several error messages while writeing trough Creative ZEN
Public bug reported: While copying files to my Creative ZEN using Rhythmbox, several message boxes pop up. Not for every track so maybe this is a converting error?! This would not be a problem cuz the files got copied... But the System (metacity) slows down that much when more than 100 windows are opened I'm not able to work as I would like to. Opening a window takes up to a minute. The error messages are: PTP Layer error a803: LIBMTP_Send_Representative_Sample(): could not send sample data. (AFAIC only if a file have to be converted (ogg-mp3) but not every track). PTP Layer error 02ff: get_first_storage_freespace(): could not get storage info. (Several Times... I can't reproduce this actually.) If this error occupies there will only one (the first) file in the queue be written. [Bug 349973] Re: [Terra Wortmann Mobile 2104] suspend resume failure if gnome-power-manager is running (Jaunty)
Confirmed for Karmic, the screen stays black on resume, no kernel panic! [Bug 274424] Re: Intel HD Audio 82801I ICH9 sound repeats / echoes / skips / stutters
Confirmed for Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 03) with VIA VT1708S codec. The sound is too low and the volume can't be changed, you can hear something if you use external speakers cause it is a laptop (ASUS X5DIJ). Speakers need to turn very loud so the sound quality is aweful. There is no recommended model parameter in any docu so try and error is the only way to fix the issue, if it is possible. [Bug 349973] Re: [Terra Wortmann Mobile 2104] suspend resume failure if gnome-power-manager is running (Jaunty)
I don't think so, this bug deals with suspend/resume failures, the failures aren't caused by rtl8187. rtl8187 has problems with suspend/resume, too but they are known! -- [Terra Wortmann Mobile 2104] suspend resume failure if gnome-power-manager is running (Jaunty) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/349973 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 349973] Re: [Terra Wortmann Mobile 2104] suspend resume failure if gnome-power-manager is running (Jaunty)
While debugging, I found out, that gnome-power-manager isn't the main problem. In fact, the power-manager uses pm-suspend, if I kill the power-manager and use pm-suspend, it crashes. But I just found a workaround, which let me use suspend/resume without killing gpm, I edited /etc/acpi/sleep.sh. I just commented the lines after If gnome-power-manager or klaptopdaemon are running, let them handle policy. Now I'm able to use my hotkey, I don't know if I may handle the lid in a similar way. -- [Terra Wortmann Mobile 2104] suspend resume failure if gnome-power-manager is running (Jaunty) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/349973 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 164342] Re: Suspend broken
VN896 Chrome9 HC IGP, the kernel freezes on resume, eg caps does not work! If I press the suspend hotkey before logging in, the system suspends on login and resums correctly. KUbuntu works, too. [Bug 349973] Re: [Terra Wortmann Mobile 2104] suspend/resume failure
Are there any good way's to debug failures like this? The WIKI Article I found only debugs failures related to kernel mods! I killed processes but I think the processes work on other devices... so that can't be the problem! [Bug 349973] Re: [Terra Wortmann Mobile 2104] suspend/resume failure
Just found out, if I start and press Fn+F4 (Suspend keys) and then login, the System goes downt to suspens and!!! Wakes up... no problems... If Everything is loaded, it doesn't work... So there must be a service or so which prevent Ubuntu from resume! [Bug 349973] Re: [Terra Wortmann Mobile 2104] suspend/resume failure
I hope I understood your question... my English isn't the best! So I answered all the WIKI questions. Is this really a failure? Yep! Is this a repetition of a previous failure? I don't think so! Did the machine break while going to sleep or waking up? While waking up! After suspend. Is it reproducible? It occupies every time with Ubuntu, KUbuntu works! Did it work before? It works with Hardy and Intrpid... and with Opensuse 11.0 ;) Do you end up with flashing caps-lock or similar? 3 Sec or so after resuming, I can't (de)activate caps. Additionally I debugged the issue with another WIKI article (I don't know it's name) there you have to set your Hardwareclock and so on... but it doesn't provide any helpfull informations! -- [Terra Wortmann Mobile 2104] suspend/resume failure https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/349973 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 349973] [NEW] [Terra Wortmann Mobile 2104] suspend/resume failure
Public bug reported: Resume failed while using Jaunty, Intrepid works fine with the same graphic driver (openchrome). I manually had to rmmod rtl8187 to suspend. Resume fails with a black screen, but light turned on. KUbuntu works (not perfect, but it suspends and resumes). The only problem is the network manager which stops working after resume in KUbuntu. With today's daily it's the same expect there is an error message while installing: [Errno 5] Input/output error I don't know how to debug that... [Bug 335781] [NEW] Problems while useing the live CD with CD/DVD Device [Jaunty]
Public bug reported: I just tested the Live Disc of Jaunty Alpha 5 but there was the same Problem with Alpha 4. First everything works well, but after a while my CD/DVD device starts to stop the disc and restart reading and everything freezes. So I'm not able to install Jaunty most time. After a reboot everything works well. So I need to install Jaunty 4 times to finish the installation. While booting from HD it works quite well (for me much better than Intrepid) It is not a problem with my CD/DVD Device because it boots from a Hardy live disc very well and I have no problems to install Hardy. Both discs were burned with the highest speed my device provides. A funny thing that happens just before the system freezes is, that the system thinks that I have 4 or some times 5 batterys in my Laptop. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Problems while useing the live CD with CD/DVD Device [Jaunty] https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/335781 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
