[Bug 2058133] Re: [SRU] update-manager crashes when ua security-status response is an error
Hi Timo and everybody, just tested the proposed package for Jammy (22.04.4), version 1:22.04.20 and it fixes the bug for me same as it did applying the patch directly to UpdateManager.py before. Preliminary: - reverted UpdateManager.py to its original nonworking state > bug is present -updated the package to proposed version, then Testing procedure: mv /snap/bin/canonical-livepatch /snap/bin/canonical-livepatch.bak >/snap/bin/canonical-livepatch printf '%s\n' '#!/bin/sh' 'exit 1' chmod +x /snap/bin/canonical-livepatch update-manager -c -d Results: software opens, runs and gives results without crashing. ** Tags removed: verification-needed-jammy ** Tags added: verification-done-jammy -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2058133 Title: [SRU] update-manager crashes when ua security-status response is an error To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-advantage-tools/+bug/2058133/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 2058285] [NEW] update-manager crashes when started
Public bug reported: When started either via launcher or cli update-manager downloads informations from sources and crashes when the operation is terminated, just before showing the package list. This happens since the update from update-manager version 1:22.04.18 to 1:22.04.19, done yesterday. Updates via apt or apt-get cli commands work regularly. [Bug 1938988] [NEW] Glitches in Gnome Shell Windows
Public bug reported: I'm facing an issue in Ubuntu 21.04 with Gnome 3.38. Basically, some parts of the windows glitches. From my experience I think this parts are mostly the "updating" ones (animated icons or buttons, typing cursors etc). I noticed also this common behaviors in all them: 1. It happens regardless of shell or applications theme. 2. It only happens if there are no other open windows behind the window in use (or if they are running in background but minimized). 3. It doesn't happen if there are windows behind. 4. It disappears by moving, maximizing, minimizing or resizing the window in use. 5. It doesn't happen on all applications (I tested that this happens with all Gnome Apps, OBS, Telegram, VLC, but not Spotify, Chrome, Olive Video Editor). I don't really know how to describe what I see, so here's a brief video I did to show and explain it. Hoping it will help. Re: [Bug 1870736] Re: [nvidia] Screen scaling 125% gives 200%
I'd like if possible to ask a question to those who report that the nvidia kms workaround "works". In my experience, it makes indeed possible to work with fractional scaling, but the performance is absolutely abysmal: I have tearing issues, drawing issues and general extreme low performance, comparable to the Xorg driver. Despite this being OK while waiting for proper support, I don't think this can be a definitive solution. So, is it just me doing something wrong and possibly needing to fix something else or is this the same experience for everybody? No polemic intent, just would like to assess what "it works" means in this context. [Bug 1872527] Re: Clipboard doesn't work 100% of the time in Ubuntu 20.04 (in KVM guests)
@paelzer I have an update. After correctly applying the big fix on the guest too, the bug was still occurring but much more rarely. But now, after I tried disabling Klipper (the KDE clipboard history manager) on both host and guest, the bug seems to have disappeared completely (and copy still works fine, just without history). @Brian Neltner Assigning blame of course is not helping. However, let me mention that some of us in this bug report is running "Ubuntu certified" hardware (i.e. Dell XPS). [Bug 1872527] Re: Clipboard doesn't work 100% of the time in Ubuntu 20.04 (in KVM guests)
Out of desperation, I now tried to enable "Ignore selection" (I don't really use that feature anyway) in my Clipboard settings on KDE on both Host and Guest, and see if that changes anything (while still using the big fix for the time being). I am trying that because I noticed that often, when the bug occurs, the guest's clipboard contains sequence of bits of pasted text that get longer and longer, sometimes from the beginning of the text and sometimes from the end... and that seems to suggest that it's related to my target text being progressively selected over time. Thanks, on Lubuntu 18.04.4 LTS, it's /lib/udev/hwdb.d/70-mouse.hwdb. I found the mouse far too slow after the update. I'm running Lubuntu 18.04.4 LTS and recently upgraded to a Microsoft Classic Intellimouse and find the current speed to be fine. [Bug 1790861] Re: amdgpu.dc dual monitor issues when trying to sleep / power off the monitors
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected cosmic ** Description changed: I have a problem with my dual monitor setup on an AMD RX 580: when I lock the screen and Gnome try to power off both monitors the following happens: 1) the second monitor goes to sleep before the first one, this is normal and expected because the first monitor has a longer time to sleep 2) after some seconds the second monitor turn on back again and prevents the first one to sleep at all 3) gnome detects inactivity on the lock screen for some time and try to power off the monitors again 4) step 1 all over again in an infinite loop When I login back from the lock screen the windows inside my Gnome session can sometimes be rearranged from one screen to the other. After discovering this behavior I tried to power off the monitors manually with `xset dpms force off` and I can confirm that the same happens: the monitors wont really power off because the second one turns back on and prevents the first one to sleep. My guess was that somehow when the second monitor was turning off it delivered some kind of "monitors changed, you should reset" message to the GPU which in order did some kind of "reset everything and power on the monitors back again" action. Searching for a fix to this problem I tried to upgrade my amdgpu mesa drivers using the oibaf/graphics-drivers ppa and after this I tried to upgrade my whole distribution too, moving from bionic to cosmic. Nothing worked. In the end I discovered the existence of amdgpu.dc and tried to disable it with `GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="amdgpu.dc=0"`, this did the trick but it is still a workaround. - I'm not sure this is the right place to report this kind of issues but - as the issue is somehow critical (the first I entered the power on/off - loop I didn't notice it and my monitor cycled power for two hours) I - hope this will help other people. + I'm not sure this is the right place to report this kind of issues but as the issue is somehow critical (the first I entered the power on/off loop I didn't notice it and my monitor cycled power for two hours) I hope this will help other people. + --- + ProblemType: Bug + AlsaVersion: Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version k4.17.0-9-generic. + ApportVersion: 2.20.10-0ubuntu9 + Architecture: amd64 + Card0.Amixer.info: + Card hw:0 'PCH'/'HDA Intel PCH at 0xf7f1 irq 30' +Mixer name : 'Realtek ALC892' +Components : 'HDA:10ec0892,104385b0,00100302' +Controls : 50 +Simple ctrls : 22 + Card1.Amixer.info: + Card hw:1 'HDMI'/'HDA ATI HDMI at 0xf7e6 irq 31' +Mixer name : 'ATI R6xx HDMI' +Components : 'HDA:1002aa01,00aa0100,00100700' +Controls : 42 +Simple ctrls : 6 + CurrentDesktop: GNOME + DistroRelease: Ubuntu 18.10 + HibernationDevice: RESUME=UUID=7cd1c323-140b-4412-a67a-c46d90a91ff2 + InstallationDate: Installed on 2018-09-01 (3 days ago) + InstallationMedia: Ubuntu-Server 18.04.1 LTS "Bionic Beaver" - Release amd64 (20180725) + IwConfig: Error: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: 'iwconfig': 'iwconfig' + MachineType: ASUS All Series + Package: linux (not installed) + ProcFB: 0 amdgpudrmfb + ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-4.17.0-9-generic root=UUID=edb6f869-3d1b-4726-bbf1-44b736abfe2b ro amdgpu.dc=0 + ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.17.0-9.10-generic 4.17.17 + RelatedPackageVersions: + linux-restricted-modules-4.17.0-9-generic N/A + linux-backports-modules-4.17.0-9-generic N/A + linux-firmware1.174 + RfKill: Error: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: 'rfkill': 'rfkill' + Tags: cosmic + Uname: Linux 4.17.0-9-generic x86_64 + UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to cosmic on 2018-09-04 (0 days ago) + UserGroups: adm audio cdrom dip lpadmin lxd plugdev sambashare sudo vboxusers + _MarkForUpload: True + dmi.bios.date: 08/15/2014 + dmi.bios.vendor: American Megatrends Inc. + dmi.bios.version: 2103 + dmi.board.asset.tag: To be filled by O.E.M. + dmi.board.name: Z87-C + dmi.board.vendor: ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. + dmi.board.version: Rev 1.xx + dmi.chassis.asset.tag: Asset-1234567890 + dmi.chassis.type: 3 + dmi.chassis.vendor: Chassis Manufacture + dmi.chassis.version: Chassis Version + dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnAmericanMegatrendsInc.:bvr2103:bd08/15/2014:svnASUS:pnAllSeries:pvrSystemVersion:rvnASUSTeKCOMPUTERINC.:rnZ87-C:rvrRev1.xx:cvnChassisManufacture:ct3:cvrChassisVersion: + dmi.product.family: ASUS MB + dmi.product.name: All Series + dmi.product.version: System Version + dmi.sys.vendor: ASUS ** Attachment added: "AlsaDevices.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1790861/+attachment/5184921/+files/AlsaDevices.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1790861 Title: amdgpu.dc dual monitor issues when trying to sleep / power off the monitors To manage notifications about this

[Bug 1790861] [NEW] amdgpu.dc dual monitor issues when trying to sleep / power off the monitors
Public bug reported: I have a problem with my dual monitor setup on an AMD RX 580: when I lock the screen and Gnome try to power off both monitors the following happens: 1) the second monitor goes to sleep before the first one, this is normal and expected because the first monitor has a longer time to sleep 2) after some seconds the second monitor turn on back again and prevents the first one to sleep at all 3) gnome detects inactivity on the lock screen for some time and try to power off the monitors again 4) step 1 all over again in an infinite loop When I login back from the lock screen the windows inside my Gnome session can sometimes be rearranged from one screen to the other. I'm not sure this is the right place to report this kind of issues but as the issue is somehow critical (the first I entered the power on/off loop I didn't notice it and my monitor cycled power for two hours) I hope this will help other people. ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1790861 Title: amdgpu.dc dual monitor issues when trying to sleep / power off the monitors To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1790861/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1593659] [NEW] Wi-Fi password being ignored in prompt

[Bug 1242376] Re: reload php5-fpm crashes
Hi, We are using Precise LTS too here. The init script from the php-fpm package in Ondřej's php5-oldstable PPA (PHP 5.4) works on Precise. That's using start-stop-daemon instead of upstart. So a fix for Precise, and possibly other older distributions, is to use that init script also on PHP 5.5. This is the command that is run there: start-stop-daemon --stop --signal USR2 --quiet --pidfile /var/run/php5-fpm.pid --name php5-fpm Peter Wang: I can't see any difference between using service or the init.d script here. [Bug 1197491] Re: [DELL Inspiron 15z 5523] touchpad not recognised
After two days of testing Saucy with 3.11.0-8 kernel the behaviour is the following: Sometimes the touchpad works properly by default after a fresh boot. In this case it works coninuatively for hours (possibly it works permanently). Sometimes the touchpad does not work by default after a fresh boot (is completely inactive). In this case the touchpad is disabled, and it doesn't even activate with the relative Fn key. In this second case I try to reboot until, after about three reboots, it works by default. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1197491 Title: [DELL Inspiron 15z 5523] touchpad not recognised To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1197491/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1197491] Re: [DELL Inspiron 15z 5523] touchpad not recognised
After a fresh install of Saucy (Daily Build version) the touchpad is working by default, without need of enabling it via the Fn key. I'm actually using 3.11.0-8-generic, and have been testing it for some hours and seems fine. The touchpad works with al functions enabled (also two-finger scroll). It only happened once that deactivating the touchpad using the Fn key, I was not able to reenable it again. It worked again by default after reboot. I will let you know if the fix is stable in the next days.
