[Bug 1866047] [NEW] [drm:pipe_config_mismatch [i915]] *ERROR* mismatch in pixel_rate (expected 148500, found 296999)
Public bug reported: Having some system lock ups, usually related to one or more monitors in a 2 external monitor+ laptop screen setup, using a lenovo T490. Usually when one of the monitors do not turn on (when it should), after some time or when trying to reconfigure the screen, the systems locks. I suspect the dock firmware have some problem, using the laptop screen + external monitor via hdmi in the laptop do not give me any problem, but the dock with 2 display ports is the setup that gives me problems. Today after some locks, i rebooted and have one of the 2 external monitors not displaying anything. dmesg show this error: [ 175.776166] [drm:pipe_config_mismatch [i915]] *ERROR* mismatch in pixel_rate (expected 148500, found 296999) [ 175.776283] [drm:pipe_config_mismatch [i915]] *ERROR* mismatch in shared_dpll (expected 75c9e427, found 918151ab) [ 175.776384] [drm:pipe_config_mismatch [i915]] *ERROR* mismatch in dpll_hw_state.ctrl1 (expected 0x0003, found 0x0001) [ 175.776481] [drm:pipe_config_mismatch [i915]] *ERROR* mismatch in base.adjusted_mode.crtc_clock (expected 148500, found 296999) [ 175.776572] [drm:pipe_config_mismatch [i915]] *ERROR* mismatch in port_clock (expected 27, found 54) [ 175.776578] [ cut here ] [ 175.776579] pipe state doesn't match! [Bug 1447111] Re: X11 server crash when gragging a image or text
ok, tested with the 4.0 kernel and it didn't crash... but as fglrx can't run on this config, i had to switch to radeon/mesa config returning to the 3.13.0-49-generic kernel, with also the radeon driver i also don't have any crash. So the problem is with the fglrx driver . I'm.. or better was using fglrx-updates 13.350.1 I will keep using the radeon driver for now, to avoid the accidental drag and X11 crash... but i can revert at any time and test, if needed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1447111 Title: X11 server crash when gragging a image or text To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1447111/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1447111] Re: X11 server crash when gragging a image or text
I got this since maybe 20 days, but i only got this computer for maybe one and half months, so it is hard to tell if this didn't happen before that, as i also only drag image or text usually by accident when clicking I can test with the mainline kernel and report back. Please note that the dmesg don't report anything, just the X11 crash and got that message in the Xorg.0.log. so i suspect more a Xserver or fglrx bug than a kernel/drm bug -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1447111 Title: X11 server crash when gragging a image or text To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1447111/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I'm also annoyed that every firefox i run have the letter as default page size... and of course, one only discovers this after trying to print and nothing show up on the printer. If in the past, print was little used, with the PDFjs, people start to print a lot more from firefox, making this issue more important. If this can not be fixed, at very least remove the default, leave it BLANK... on first printing, ask what paper size one wants... is not as friendly as a default, but having a broken default, trying to print and getting nothing is even worst. [Bug 748080]
i'm might just be adding noise, but this might also help some people... ** WARNING ** THIS CAN BREAK YOUR CARD MY SETTINGS ARE FOR *MY* CARD, EACH CARD IS DIFFERENT IF YOU DONT WANT TO LOSE YOUR PC, DONT EVEN TRY TO DO THIS!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! ** WARNING ** i found that my video card bios (HD2600xt, AGP, on a mid-tower) only had one power profile (high), no matter what profile i send to the /sys/class/drm/card0/device/power_profile, the /sys/kernel/debug/dri/0/radeon_pm_info stayed the same... i tried to underclock the card with the rovclock, but it too old and doesnt support current chips... after some research i found a windows util (sadly its windows only) that allow one to download the card bios and change the power profiles and re-upload that changed bios. It is a dangerous thing, one might brick the card with wrong settings, so i tested with one older card and tested all frequency settings in windows, using the amd/ati drivers overclock setting and all worked fine so i tried in my main card and i backup my old firmware, prepare a boot floppy to restore it and start to change the profiles...i tried always small steps, with the low profile being the testing one and the default always the normal settings, so i could test in linux the switch between profiles and detect the problems, and fall back to the default with a simple cold boot i keep the same boot settings (so less risk of breaking things), keep the max freq (800MHz @ 1.2V), but created a mid an lower profiles with less 1.1V and with the card running at 350MHz and 200MHz with this changed, and running the low profile, i dropped the temperature from my card from about 80ºC to 59ºC and the card heatsink fan also run slower of course, the card is also running slower, but i'm not using 3D and for 2D its fine. when i need more graphic power, i can manually change the power profile to high. the url for that windows software is http://www.techpowerup.com/rbe/ now, this is a last thing we would want to do, but might help with broken card bios like mine, where the power profiles are broken or nonexistent and help people break free from the card builder settings. also, it would be a lot better that someone created a new linux side under/overclock tool, specially using the radeon modules/drivers. Maybe this tool could help debuging and improving the power control of radeon cards in linux, but creating various profiles and comparing what changes between then. with this maybe we could control the power profiles from linux, without messing with the card bios. finally, and to compare, this same card, running in windows, without underclock runs idle at 53ºC and under heavy usage about 90ºC, so windows is clearly sending some type of IDLE command to the GPU that cuts power and heat usage. finding and using that GPU IDLE command would also help a lot solving this problem again, this is dangerous, its not for everyone (you must understand how thing works and what are the risks) and requires a MS Windows usage. i have no idea if this works on laptops. good luck higuita -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/748080 Title: ATI card fan is always on with opensource radeon driver To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/xserver-xorg-driver-ati/+bug/748080/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 546503] Re: HP touchpad-disable switch damages mouse and focus capability
i think this bug is a dupe of bug #868400 (or the other way around) the problem is that synaptic and gnome both disable the touchpad and go out of sync (ie: when one enables the touchpad, the other disables it) the keyboard issues might be a different bug, probably a apps stealing focous. either way, most people where are describing is the #868400 bug. that bug have a workaround (ie: disable the gnome disable touchpad keybinding) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/546503 Title: HP touchpad-disable switch damages mouse and focus capability To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-settings-daemon/+bug/546503/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 833840] Re: synaptics touchpad doesnt enable after disabling from fn+f6 key on dell xps l702x. Even after restart just doens't work now.
Also I noticed today touchpad works on login screen but stops working after login. this also look like a dupe from bug #868400 , this is the classic case of the gnome session is disabling the touchpad on startup (on gdm you dont have gnome, so it works) you can also try to create a new user and login... if dupe the mouse will work until you disable the touchpad for the first time (watch out also for the disable touchpad while typing) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/833840 Title: synaptics touchpad doesnt enable after disabling from fn+f6 key on dell xps l702x. [Bug 549727] Re: [10.04] Touchpad stops working after login
on 11.10 the disable touchpad while typing seems to activate again this problem... some times disabling and re-enabling the touchpad several times make the touchpad return back to life... but doesnt work always. also, on 11.10, disabled the touchpad and re-enable one will not work, i need to do it twice to really re-enable the touchpad. it looks like there is yet another apps trying to play with the touchpad and confusing even more this ** Summary changed: - [10.04] Touchpad stops working after login + Touchpad stops working after login -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/549727 Title: Touchpad stops working after login To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-synaptics/+bug/549727/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 862861] [NEW] no way to choose default user in lightdm
Public bug reported: When a machine have several users, lightdm show then sorted by name and the users dont have any way to change that order. that can be annoying, example: all laptops have a admin user and the normal user. As admin starts with a , its the default user always, ready to enter the password... this forces the machine user to select its user and enter the password. Per bug #857651, we cant hide the admin user... lightdm doesnt remember the last used username nor use it as the default and (AFAIK), there is no way to change the user order. the only workaround is to rename the user to z-admin or something, so it gives room to the other user, but either way, as its now lightdm is too much locked for a single user system ** Affects: lightdm (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/862861 Title: no way to choose default user in lightdm To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lightdm/+bug/862861/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 237362] Re: Broken keymap using Tightvnc w/ Gnome
by http://blog.yclian.com/2007/12/3-solutions-to-gnomevnc-keyboard.html , we have a workaround... Add the line below in the $HOME/.vnc/xstartup , before the gnome-session startup export XKL_XMODMAP_DISABLE=1 Example: # in .vnc/xstartup xrdb $HOME/.Xresources xsetroot -solid grey XKL_XMODMAP_DISABLE=1 export XKL_XMODMAP_DISABLE gnome-session As this is soo old (at least 4 years) and still isnt fixed, a permament workaround should be addin to the gnome-sesson script a check like this: if [ ! -z $VNCDESKOP ] ; then XKL_XMODMAP_DISABLE=1 export XKL_XMODMAP_DISABLE fi This should be put by default in gnome in ubuntu (and debian and gnome, etc), as AFAIK, there is no side effects in VNC sessions other solution is not to use gnome in vnc, but that seens stupid :) -- Broken keymap using Tightvnc w/ Gnome https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/237362 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
