letters/numbers for the user name and the bullets for the password. It
works, but you can't see anything you type. It's like you're looking
through a mail-slot on your front door trying to read letters that
measure 3 feet tall each.

FIX IS BELOW

FYI. The fix of disabling and enabling desktop effects worked for me. I
have an Intel Integrated graphics card.

Steps to Fix:
1. Click System>Preferences>Appearance
2. Click Visual Effects tab
3. Select the None radio button
You should see everything return to normal at this point
4. Select the radio button for either of the visual effect settings at this
point (if you choose)
Everything should look ok after a few seconds of the system enabling the effects

UPDATE
This only fixed the problem until I restarted, at which point it returned. I
have managed to fix it permanently however. This is what I did:
1. sudo gedit /etc/gdm/gdm.conf
2. find the section [server-Standard] in that file
3. You should see a line that says "-command=/usr/bin/X -br -audit 0". Change
it to read "-command=/usr/bin/X -br -audit 0 -dpi 96".
4. Save, quit, and restart

You should be good to go now.

Cheers

[Bug 237429] [NEW] ubuntu 8.10 fast user switching sound

2008-06-04 Thread ibizatunes
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: login

Hello, i have a virtual machine running ibex, if i login normally ie
user1 sound work fine, if then i fast user switch to user2, the standard
ubuntu login drum noise continues to play (repeatedly) in user 2
session

I tested a movie that plays in user1, the sound doesn't move into user2
session ONLY the drumming from the standard ubuntu logon moves and
repeats in user2 session - i did this test a few times and eventually
this test crashed my virtual machine completely

One more point! ubuntu has 10million + users, i would expect that this issue

[Bug 137745] Re: compiz can only used by one user

2008-03-29 Thread ibizatunes
Just having a think about this problem, it should be given some a
reasonably high priority to be fixed!!

1st reason is Ubuntu (dell) sell laptop / desktops, with Intel open source
drivers installed, Its not expectable if you buy a pc and there is a major
driver issue like this (this issue needs to be fixed, i cant tell friends to
buy ubuntu desktop / laptops if only 1 person can user the machine, then have
to reboot, then another person can use it) - not acceptable, user wont buy the
product
2nd can potentially can effect ubuntu desktop sales
3rd reason, is that Ubuntu (linux in general) works on older machine much
better than new hardware does, if desktop effects can be enable (it shouldn't
have such a major flaw in the drivers)

i like kyle's idea "here is an idea for a quick fix, on switching users have

enable on the other users session. This is a simple yet effective way untill we
can find a fix for allowing X to handle more"

2008-03-26 Thread ibizatunes
There isnt a error, it just simply doesnt load if fast user switch
The version is 0.3.1, it didnt work in version 0.2.1

My guess of what is causing it, is that if you fast user switch it
doesn't create a new 3d session, or clear out the exist one

RE: [Bug 207095] Re: totem-gstreamer-video-indexer crashed with SIGSEGV in realloc()

2008-03-26 Thread ibizatunes

I dont know how to get this application to run!!
I do
sudo apt-get install valgrind
then
rm valgrind.log.*

#all works fine until here!!
Start the program under control of memcheck:

G_SLICE=always-malloc G_DEBUG=gc-friendly
 valgrind -v --tool=memcheck --leak-check=full --num-callers=40
--log-file=valgrind.log

This bit doesn't run memcheck = command not found

If you can explain where I am going wrong i will gladly run the test

I'm not a programmer so if i need to modify that script please show me
what it needs to be!!

[Bug 202635] [NEW] saving desktop image

2008-03-15 Thread ibizatunes
Public bug reported:

Hello,
I have ubuntu 8.04 all available patches, (ati open source g.card)
basically if i find a desktop image, right click and save as desktop, it
doesn't apply
The work around was download the image, open and click use as desktop, if i
removed the file, the image disappears
In 7.10 you could delete the image and the desktop would remain, (i think)
