[Bug 1851910] Re: Display does not show up (short flashes)
** Description changed: This issue started recently (I think it could be related to some package update. Steps to reproduce: - Power the PC on; - BIOS Boot screen (not visible, the display is off); - GRUB screen (not visible, the display is off); - Gnome Login screen (not visible, the display is off). Workaround: - - after a reasonable time for the Gnome Login Screen to be reached, inserting my user password starts the desktop session. Screen is never shown on first try (the best is to see short flashes of the desktop in the screen). The display keeps on trying to start. - - long press the power button to force power down and immedeately switch the PC back on --> after 1 or more workaround cycles the screen is shown (sometimes with wrong horizontal placement). + - after a reasonable time for the Gnome Login Screen to be reached, inserting my user password starts the desktop session. Screen is never shown on first try (the best I can get are short flashes of the desktop in the screen). The display keeps on trying to start. + - long press the power button to force power down and immediately switch the PC back on --> after 1 or more workaround cycles the screen is shown (sometimes with wrong horizontal placement). [Bug 1851910] [NEW] Display does not show up (short flashes)
Public bug reported: This issue started recently (I think it could be related to some package update. Steps to reproduce: - Power the PC on; - BIOS Boot screen (not visible, the display is off); - GRUB screen (not visible, the display is off); - Gnome Login screen (not visible, the display is off). Workaround: - after a reasonable time for the Gnome Login Screen to be reached, inserting my user password starts the desktop session. Screen is never shown on first try (the best is to see short flashes of the desktop in the screen). The display keeps on trying to start. - long press the power button to force power down and immedeately switch the PC back on --> after 1 or more workaround cycles the screen is shown (sometimes with wrong horizontal placement). After the display is working, it works smoothly until the next power down (i.e. if I reboot the PC everything is visible from the BIOS Boot screen onward. [Bug 1786669] [NEW] Xorg freeze / nvidia-driver-390 does not boot
Public bug reported: Ubuntu installed in legacy mode (efi not supported) graphic card: Nvidia GF108 [GeForce GT 520] Kernel: linux-image-4.15.0-30-generic With default driver active [xserver-xorg-video-nouveau] the performance is reduced (compared to active nvidia driver in previous 16.04 installation). Running games often leads to screen freeze (hard reboot necessary). On the other hand proprietary drivers do not work properly: 1) with nvidia-driver-390 the system locks before showing gdm login (bad chars shown) with last kernel; 2) with nvidia-driver-390 the screen is forced to 680x480 res using kernel linux-image-4.15.0-23-generic; also LAN/internet does not work; 3) with nvidia-340 the monitor switches off during boot and the boot does not continue; Also tried to activate the nvidia ppa (ppa:graphics-drivers/ppa) to try the legacy driver (304), but I can't since it breaks several other packages. Googling around my guess either is for bugs in kernels from 4.15.0-23 or for signed modules not working without efi. Thanks for your support! I still need to have StartupMaster extension enabled, to get prompted for password just once on startup. So, I think there is still something to be fixed. My TB setup: - Use of main password enabled; - Multiple mail accounts; - Lightning extension installed. - StartupMaster extension installed. [Bug 1072198] [NEW] Thunderbird+Lightning cannot manage calendar files if set as default calendar app
Public bug reported: Even if Thunderbird (with Lightning extension installed) is set as default calendar app from System Settings -> System Information, it is not able to properly manage calendar files from the desktop environment (e.g. *.ics files). If the procedure at this link is followed (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gtk+3.0/+bug/841409/comments/21), when opening an *.ics file Thunderbird is started. But, instead of activating the calendar view or asking the user to either import the calendar or creating a draft appointment, a new mail message is created. The calendar is put of an attachment to such mail. [Bug 971893] [NEW] Mouse pointer gets stuck
Public bug reported: I use Lubuntu Netbook sessions in my netbook. After latest package upgrades (from Ubuntu 12.04b1 to 12.04b2 and subsequent), my mouse pointer sometimes gets stuck. [Bug 877768] Re: My webcam is not working after upgrade from Natty to Oneiric
Some more information from my side. My webcam is external, connected via USB; it has a LED which is activated when the device is operating. During Ubuntu boot (when the Ubuntu logo is shown, with progress bar on purple background) the LED is on, as it was with 11.04. The LED goes off when the User selector (lightDM in my case) comes up. Afterwards, the cam is not recognized anymore. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/877768 Title: My webcam is not working after upgrade from Natty to Oneiric To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/877768/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
