[Bug 2073034] [NEW] i cannot upgrade from 22.04 to 24.04

2024-07-13 Thread igor sverchkov
Public bug reported:

i have some message

Не удалось рассчитать обновление системы

Во время расчёта обновлений возникла нерешаемая проблема.

 Вероятно это было вызвано из-за того что:
 * Неофициальные пакеты программного обеспечения не поддерживаются Ubuntu

[Bug 1856700] Re: Lazarus icon not shown in Ubuntu Dash

2024-06-04 Thread Igor Voloshin
The answer is absolutely simple: when it comes to small size icons, the
Lazarus launcher has only 32x32 pixel icon in its inventory, therefore,
to see the Lazarus icon on your Ubuntu dash just set the dashboard icons
size slider to "32" in your "Display" settings. And yes, it is still not
fixed in 2024.

[Bug 1960307] Re: No gstreamer dependency causes high-fidelity codecs to be missing for Bluetooth devices

2022-04-02 Thread Igor V. Kovalenko
Whether your headset cannot be switched from HFP to A2DP is a separate
issue anyway. You can try pairing and trusting the device again, also
please check if you have pipewire audio enabled which could seldom take
over bluetooth a2dp, and see if bluetoothd log has anything related.

2022-03-23 Thread Igor V. Kovalenko
It's in the 15.0 release notes,
https://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/PulseAudio/Notes/15.0/#supportforldacandaptxbluetoothcodecsplussbcxqsbcwithhigher-
qualityparameters

  pactl send-message /card/bluez_card.XX_XX_XX_XX_XX_XX/bluez list-
codecs

You should also be able to find codec selection in pavucontrol
'Configuration' tab if pavucontrol is built correctly.

Corrado, this is still not ideal - while it appears to work at the
moment, having two audio servers with their own idea of volumes would
probably cause trouble going on.

[Bug 1953052] Re: In Jammy sound level reset after reboot

2022-02-19 Thread Igor V. Kovalenko
OK that matches what we have observed elsewhere. In theory there is an
audio device reservation protocol which is obeyed by both pulseaudio and
pipewire, but in practice it looks like at least some versions of
pipewire media server component do not obey the protocol in full (i.e.
are still using control device) I cannot think of any other reason why
both pulseaudio and pipewire are using the same control device.

[Bug 1953052] Re: In Jammy sound level reset after reboot

2022-02-17 Thread Igor V. Kovalenko
Sebastien, if distribution is intended to provide pipewire function for
video only, there is no need to install audio parts. At very least
'with-pulse' 'with-jack' and other files directly or transitively
enabling 'with-audio' pipewire parts should not be installed so pipewire
media session daemon does not get hold of hardware controls.

Alternatively, if distribution is intended to provide pulseaudio
interface via pipewire, that should be properly switching pulseaudio
activation socket to pipewire-pulse, and/or disabling or uninstalling
pulseaudio daemon and maybe disabling pulseaudio autospawn in
client.conf

[Bug 1953052] Re: In Jammy sound level reset after reboot

2022-02-17 Thread Igor V. Kovalenko
Do you have both pulseaudio and pipewire audio enabled simultaneously?
At least system log suggests pipewire with session manager is also being
activated, this could cause issues if both attempt to restore volumes
for some reason.

[Bug 1958855] [NEW] sound

2022-01-24 Thread Igor
Public bug reported:

Hello. My laptop started having sound problems starting with cores older than
5.11.43.
The sound has become very wheezing and wheezing stops when you turn on video or
music. But when nothing is lost, the sound on the speakers begins to make a
wheeze very much. This is not on the core of the 5.11.43.

[Bug 1888598] Re: Pulseaudio breaks HDMI audio on sleep/wake

2021-11-09 Thread Igor V. Kovalenko
I believe there is no defined order in which audio devices are resuming,
which makes them appear to pulseaudio in random order. This is probably
causing pulseaudio module-switch-on-connect to flip user preference to
each appearing device in same (random) order. If you do not use this
function you can disable module-switch-on-connect or use it's blacklist
to prevent your preference flipping between devices.

Pulseaudio itself is not aware of suspend/resume function. I do not know
if there is any system callback that confirms that system completed
resume sequence and everything is back (including access rights to audio
devices) so fixing this issue in full will be not a trivial task.

With pulseaudio-15.0 update you can tell pulseaudio to always select specified
profile when device appears. This also is not a complete solution, but you can
either make sure your HDMI is always off or is always using the profile with
your preferred port:
https://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/PulseAudio/Notes/15.0/#cardprofilescanbesettosticky
Pavucontrol 5.0 has easy button for this, or use pactl send-message as
described in release notes.

[Bug 1945235] Re: pulseaudio crashed with SIGABRT in pa_bluetooth_transport_put() from transport_put() from hfp_rfcomm_handle()

2021-09-28 Thread Igor V. Kovalenko
This could be a problem in pulseaudio native backend, provoked by
numerous reconnections between bluez and headset.

If verbose log from pulseaudio daemon can be collected for this crash, I
think it is worth to file an issue in pulseaudio tracker here
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/pulseaudio/pulseaudio/-/issues/ with
verbose log attached.

[Bug 1939412] [NEW] command-not-found suggests postgresql-client-common when trying to use psql for the first time, but this package is useless

2021-08-10 Thread Igor Mosyagin
Public bug reported:

1 and 2:

```
Description:Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS
```

I was trying to connect to psql server. I didn't know what package I
need to install so hoped that the I would get help from the system
itself:

```
 $ psql
Command 'psql' not found, but can be installed with:
sudo apt install postgresql-client-common
```

3) What I expected to happen:
I was expecting that after installing postgresql-client-common I would be able
to run the command.

Digging further, I found out that there's only one postgresql-
client- package (postgresql-client-12), and that's not the
latest version of psql. I expect to be suggested to install either
`postgresql-client` or a correct version of `postgresql-
client-` package

4) What happened instead:
I was not able to run command straightaway and had to figure out which package
to install next with no clear help

Here's what happened when I was installing it:
```
 $ sudo apt-get install postgresql-client-common
[Bug 1931547] Re: DisplayLink displays are black after Mesa update
2021-06-12 Thread Igor Lopez
I might be affected by this and am willing to test if it solves my problem.
What happened was that about maybe two weeks ago the DisplayPorts from my DELL
D6000 Dock stopped working (but works when connecting a Windows Laptop)
Where do I find instructions on testing?
2021-06-03 Thread Igor Po
I had tried linux-headers-5.11.0-18-generic and the sound still doesn't work on
it. I have myself built kernel linux-headers-5.11.17 that works great.
I built it with params
CONFIG_SND_SOC_INTEL_SOUNDWIRE_SOF_MACH=m
CONFIG_SND_SOC_INTEL_USER_FRIENDLY_LONG_NAMES=y
[Bug 1807138] Re: [ALC256 - Razer Blade 15 2018] Headphones not automatically detected
2021-04-22 Thread Igor Voldiner
I found a work-around that allows detection of headphones to work correctly.
by changing model name of the codec to "headset-mode" from "headset-mic" in
/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
However this did not solve the problem with headset mic, which is not
working (tried all pins available from hdajackretask) for any of two of
above specified model names.
see https://libvirt.org/formatdomain.html#cpu-model-and-topology
for the way to describe topology in domain xml.
Pick a real AMD CPU for cpu model you're are having problem with,
and use its config to define topology.
So it works with EPYC but not with ECPY-Rome, then probably topology
is not issue.
CCing Babu,
who added EPYC-Rome cpu model, maybe he can help
Also it's worth to try setting real CPU topology for if EPYC cpu model is used.
i.e. use -smp with options that resemble a real EPYC cpu
(for number of core complexes is configured with 'dies' option in QEMU)
2020-11-17 Thread Igor
@gdi2k
What we have in the Linux now is HFP with 8kHz encoding. All other
platforms such as Windows, Android, Chromium, etc, supports HFP with
16kHZ encoding which is much much better quality. Sure, it's not like
A2DP, but quality is very much acceptable to speak with someone.
@dennis9771
Just get yourself Bluetooth audio card and save yourself a trouble, this
will never be fixed. And you will not be able to use A2DP for
conversation even if fixed. The goal of the fix is to add HFP 1.6 with
mSBC 16kHz audio encoding so you have better quality during
conversation.
from the bug report into Ubuntu's 5.4 kernel as this is a critical
[Bug 1897963] [NEW] Kernel null pointer dereference - Lenovo Thinkpad USB-C Dock Gen2
2020-09-30 Thread Igor Campos
Public bug reported:
Basically a null pointer dereference was happening while using a lenovo
usb-c dock. The issue has been addressed upstream with commit:
https://github.com/torvalds/linux/commit/386e15a650447f53de3d2d8819ce9393f31650a4
Apparently the dock kept sending altmode information repeatedly, and the
kernel did not expect this to happen, a check was added to make sure it
only observes the amount of altmodes limited by the standard.
Re: [Bug 1871573] Re: [Lenovo ThinkPad P1 Gen 2] HDMI port can't be found
2020-06-20 Thread Igor
Hi Thierry,
>From memory I did set "on demand" mode and it worked correctly.
Now it is a strange situation, kernel 5.4.0-28 is the latest that boots
correctly in my setup if only built in screen (on later versions, it hangs
shortly after Linux boot started, Lenovo sign still there and progress
circle not shown anymore)
Latest kernels boots correctly if there is external screen plugged by HDMI
(so, maybe "hung" from 1st case it is just that still somehow expects
external screen...)
Regards,
Igor
Re: [Bug 1873724] Re: Clipit unable to open preferences
2020-06-20 Thread Igor
Ah, I was too fast.
It is fixed once restarted. After some usage still gets the same error
(using shortcut and also from clipit Preferences menu)
Thank you and best regards,
Igor
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1711538 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1711538
Hi Daniel,
Thank you reply.
When login using default login manager, once you are logged in, it works as
intended.
On the other hand, if you login with i3 window manager, this problem is
still there, tap to click does not work.
Is it question for i3 team?
Thank you,
Igor
[Bug 1882923] [NEW] Ubuntu 20.04, login screen, unable to click with trackpad
2020-06-10 Thread Igor
Public bug reported:
Hi,
In login screen, mouse works but clicking is possible only with click button.
Click on trackpad does not work.
Once entered Ubuntu session, click on trackpad works.
But if used i3wm (sudo apt install i3 + choosing i3 in right below button on
login ) - problem persists even after login (mouse clicks possible only with
mouse buttons)
Thank you,
Igor
[Bug 1882483] [NEW] ThinkPad P1 Gen 2 does not boot
2020-06-07 Thread Igor
Public bug reported:
Hi,
Kernels > 5.4.0-28 can not boot Ubuntu 20.04 when *NO* HDMI monitor
plugged.
Kernels > 5.4.0-28 can boot Ubuntu 20.04 when HDMI monitor plugged.
There is also a separate problem:
No wake up after hibernation, only repeated sound without screen image -
physical shutdown is only workaround I have.
Thank you,
Igor
2020-05-18 Thread Igor Zubarev
Hi Lukas! I tried `update-manager -d` in 20.04 for update to Gorilla. I
checked for these strings. Now it's all correct. See attach.
Hi Lukas! Now I have the same versions!
Maybe it was a bug when I made upgrade during Beta 20.04.
How can I test it?
Re: [Bug 1871573] Re: [Lenovo ThinkPad P1 Gen 2] HDMI port can't be found
2020-05-14 Thread Igor
Hi Daniel,
I found workaround.
Discrete graphics in BIOS didn't have impact in my case.
I didn't work with built-in (Intel) only graphics.
Needed "nvidia" or "on-demand" (ex: /usr/bin/prime-select on-demand)
Disabling Secure Boot was required to make it work.
Thank you,
Igor
Re: [Bug 1871573] Re: [Lenovo ThinkPad P1 Gen 2] HDMI port can't be found
2020-05-11 Thread Igor
Hi,
Actually I have worked with Intel driver.
Does that mean that Intel can not display to external display ? (I use it
as it seems to use less energy than nvidia)
Now I have switched to nvidia with nvidia-settings (to Performance mode)
Rebooted + drm.debug=0x04
Still no picture on external monitor.
Output of drivers is below. Should I uninstall or switch to 435 ? I am not
sure how to switch driver.
How I can try Wayland, do you have somewhere steps for preparation ?
sudo ubuntu-drivers devices
driver   : nvidia-driver-435 - distro non-free
driver   : nvidia-driver-440 - distro non-free recommended
driver   : xserver-xorg-video-nouveau - distro free builtin
== /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:1d.6/:52:00.0 ==
Thank you and regards,
Igor
[Bug 1874125] Re: Untranslatable strings in grub menu
2020-05-09 Thread Igor Zubarev
Hello, Brian! I already installed new memtest86+ from focal-proposed.
It seems translations haven't extracted to launchpad yet: "No translatable
templates available
". See https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/memtest86+
Also it recommends using
https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/focal/+source/memtest86+/+translations
 which is empty too
Which of them should I use when translation will arrive?
[Bug 1877129] [NEW] jackd won't run in realtime
2020-05-06 Thread Igor Sakulin
Public bug reported:
Was using jackd2 for ages, never had this issue. The usual limits.conf
tweaks are present. Jackd won't run in realtime even as root. It's very
easy to reproduce in Focal.
Before upgrade, was working:
Ubuntu 18.04.4 LTS
uname -r
kernel 5.3.0-51-generic
jackd --version
jackdmp version 1.9.12 tmpdir /dev/shm protocol 8
After upgrade:
Ubuntu 20.04 LTS
uname -r
5.4.0-29-generic
jackd --version
jackdmp version 1.9.12 tmpdir /dev/shm protocol 8
Simple test:
jackd -R -d dummy -r192000 -p2048
I'm guessing that it's not jack itself (package ver. seems to be the
same as bionic, without new feats), smth is missing in the kernel
config. I would try RT kernel, but it usually does not boot at all
thanks to Nvidia blob on that system.
[Bug 1875622] [NEW] Ubuntu 20.04 Dark mode isn't making the GNOME menus dark
2020-04-28 Thread Igor Zubarev
Public bug reported:
Ubuntu 20.04 dark mode is not making the top bar menus dark.
Also the grant permission dialog is not dark too.
Where are a lot of guides how to fix it. Users have to install different tweaks
etc.
But is it going to be fixed in 20.04?
[Bug 1863434] Re: 20.04 grub menu not visible
2020-04-24 Thread Igor Alexandre Dutra e Soçva
I am having this issue too. I have a Dell Vostro 5470 notebook, i5-4210U
processor, 8GiB DDR3 RAM, 480GB SSD and a GeForce GT 740M. I have a dual
boot instalation alongside Windows 10. After installing Ubuntu 20.04,
after the POST screen, all that is shown is a blank screen with a cursor
(not blinking) and, after a while, Ubuntu is loaded. Using the arrow
keys I am able to select another option, but I can't see them.
I tried installing grub-customizer and changing some options (like grub
resolution and font style and size), but it didn't work. Below it the
grub version that is installed:
