[Bug 962550] Re: BUG: scheduling while atomic: VirtualBox/5231/0x00000002

2012-03-22 Thread isi
I must be too tired, cause i haven't seen the bug complains about my personal
rt-kernel,
so it seems like it's not an Ubuntu-bug, isn't it ?
However here is the oops (even if it's tan "old" one, it's the same text at
each boot in apport-gtk).

[Bug 962550] Re: BUG: scheduling while atomic: VirtualBox/5231/0x00000002

2012-03-23 Thread isi
Ok, so it seems like i was really tired these last days.
The error was still popping on an ubuntu generic kernel (mainline 3.3 too)
and/or latency kernel, but complaining about the rt-kernel.

This rt-kernel was configured based on abogani's, i recompiled one based on
lowlatency (ubuntu's) kernel, and it seems like the popup error has gone.
So seems like this bug can be tagged solved ...
Thanks for help anyway !!

[Bug 791833] Re: Dell ST2220T Monitor responds to touch only on warm boot from windows

2012-05-08 Thread isi
In my case, (precise updated from beta) i had to follow the howto you're
talking about,
just replacing each instance of "hid-multitouch-ubuntu-10.10" by
"hid-multitouch-ubuntu-12.04".
Hope it helps.

On Precise, i have know window's title bar clic functionality.
Geisview seems not to recognise the gesture events,
and i still have a bug in nautilus (strange clic-behavior / no click) and unity
panel (no right-clic on gtk2-systray icons) after any touch.

So there is progress, i'll test more soon..

Peace

[Bug 791833] Re: Dell ST2220T Monitor responds to touch only on warm boot from windows

2012-08-09 Thread isi
Hi !
Some news:

Following
http://lii-enac.fr/en/architecture/linux-input/multitouch-ubuntu-howto.html for
12.04,
i have touch working, so this touchscreen begins to come usable.

BUT:
i cannot select a file or directory in nautilus (and so on Desktop) with finger
or mouse,
and cannot use the rolling menus in Grub Customizer (i'll report here any
other bug i see).

@Tyler:
i've written a little script which install what is needed from git, so let me
know if you want me to put it online.

[Bug 791833] Re: Dell ST2220T Monitor responds to touch only on warm boot from windows

2012-03-31 Thread isi
Hi Bradd Figg !
I'm not sure to well understand your question.

On 3.2.0-21 -generic or -lowlatency, the screen still need the patch or the
git-related part of
http://lii-enac.fr/en/architecture/linux-input/multitouch-ubuntu-howto.html
(adapted for 12.04 version, didn't test with others)
to correctly handle the finger's position.

Note:
On Ubuntu 12.04, windows title bars aren't "touch-clickable",
and any touch will result with the loose of any click functionality (touch &
mouse).
Seemly like https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/utouch/+bug/801988

If i can help ...

[Bug 951955] [NEW] Dell st220t (st2220tc) buggy multitouch

2012-03-10 Thread isi
Public bug reported:

This device needs a patch to work (oneiric and precise):
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/791833/+attachment/2680972/+files/0001-HID-multitouch-fix-handling-of-buggy-reports-descrip.patch
Even patched, "only" two inputs are recognised by mtview, only one by pymt.

After few touches, i loose any clic functionality (mouse & touchscreen),
and didn't find better than "sudo service lighdm restart" in tty1 (so
touch is unusable).

geisview doesn't receive any gesture event:
device id: 61088

[Bug 791833] Re: Dell ST2220T Monitor responds to touch only on warm boot from windows

2012-04-03 Thread isi
@ Brad Figg : Thanks !

Since i've no oneiric partition left, and due to this
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/utouch/+bug/801988,
i cannot test that much if it works under precise.

BUT since it have the same behavior with your kernel than a with patched
one, it SEEMS TO WORK !

If someone else can test under oneiric, it would be nice.
If not, i'll take time to do it.

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 791833 ***

Sorry if i mistake posting here again, but it seems like it is a
different bug than https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/791833 since it only
happens on Unity (Precise).

With patch
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/791833/+attachment/2680972/+files/0001-HID-multitouch-fix-handling-of-buggy-reports-descrip.patch
Or
http://lii-enac.fr/en/architecture/linux-input/multitouch-ubuntu-howto.html
(Thanks Benjamin Tissoires !)
Touchscreen works ok in Unity(Oneiric) and not so bad in Gnome(Precise),

But in Unity(Precise), which i'm using, i'm LOOSING ANY CLIC FUNCTIONALITY
(mouse & touch) after few touchs (seemly drag ??).
The screen doesn't hang, i still can move cursor with mouse or touchscreen.
Just no clic ...

[Bug 801988] Re: [Acer W500] multitouch doesn't work

2012-03-18 Thread isi
No change for me on Dell st220t.
The device still doesn't work without patch,

And with the patch under Unity Precise, i still :

- can't touch-click on windows title bar (so can't move windows with touch),
- loose any clic (mouse and touch) as soon as i do a drag or flick (so i must
restart lightdm in tty1).

@ljackson:
I'm sorry, i don't use Mint.
I just can say it SHOULD work, since Mint is based on Ubuntu; but be sure that
Mint 12 is based on Ubuntu 12.04.
Keep in mind that i still have bugs using touch (under Precise = 12.04, not
under Oneiric = 11.10), so for now, i just don't use it.
If you want a tested distrib with working Dell ST220T, use Ubuntu Oneiric 11.10
;-).

2012-01-21 Thread isi
PERFECT !

@Benjamin Tissoires :
Hudges thanks !
Didn't test much about multipoint and right clic, but the device is well
recognised, i got clic functionality and can now use onboard !!
( I have now a pretty nice & easy desktop for MAO, sweet !! :p )
Sorry for late reply, just some problems last days.

@L Jackson :
There's surely an easiest and shortest way (building only needed module), but i
compiled my kernel after patching the source with :
patch -p1 --dry-run <
/[path_of_patch]/0001-HID-multitouch-fix-handling-of-buggy-reports-descrip.patch
at the root of the kernel source, removing the option "--dry-run" if no error
is reported to apply it really.
Hope it helps.

Thanks again !!
& take it isi ;-)

[Bug 430809] Re: [Dell Latitude D430, iwl3945] Wireless can't be activated after disabling kill switch

2009-10-07 Thread Isi
Hello,

I have a dell e4300 with a wifi 5300 AGN CARD. After upgrading from Jaunty to
Karmic Alpha6 my wifi card starts always disabled because although my hardware
switch is enabled, rfkill does not detect it and it disables the wifi by
software (if i do a fresh install of Karmic Alpha 6 works !!!).

I have tested the patched kernel and now the problem with the rfkill is
solved but the interface is not detected as a wireless one:

iwconfig
lono wireless extensions.

eth0 no wireless extensions.

wlan0 no wireless extensions.

vboxnet0 no wireless extensions.

pan0 no wireless extensions.

Therefore, there is some cross-relation isssue among your patch and mi
wifi card. I have to go to the original kernel to have wifi support
although i have to enable the wifi manually with rfkill.

[Bug 430809] Re: [Dell Latitude D430, iwl3945] Wireless can't be activated after disabling kill switch

2009-10-07 Thread Isi
Hello again,

just a clarification, this morning was an update from kernel 2.6.31-11
to kernel 2.6.31-12, so the problem about not detecting the wireless
extensions of my wifi interface is related with it. Therefore, it seems
that the patch solves my problem with rfkill, but probably some days
would be need it to confirm it.

The work on bug

Re: [Bug 430809] Re: [Dell Latitude D430, iwl3945] Wireless can't be activated after disabling kill switch

2009-10-13 Thread Isi
Hello,

I have been having problems with my wifi-card and rfkill, I opened bug 435141.
Maybe, this bug is related so I have tried the patch, I have a dell e4300 with
an interl 53000 AGN.

I attach the results of testing the patch with hardware switch on and off. In
both cases the result is the same:

If hardware switch on:

rfkill list
1: phy0: Wireless LAN
Soft blocked: yes
Hard blocked: no
2: hci0: Bluetooth
Soft blocked: yes
Hard blocked: no

If hardware switch off:

 rfkill list

1: phy0: Wireless LAN
Soft blocked: yes
Hard blocked: yes

My wifi is always disabled by software, I have to enable it manually. However,
with a fresh install of Karmic Alpha 6 it worked perfectly. I would appreciate
some feedback if it would be possible, I don't want to introduce noise in a
bug not related with me. Maybe is with something related with rfkill but not
rfkill itself. Let me know if you need more info.

Regards,

Isaías

[Bug 64078] rights problem !!

2006-10-04 Thread isi
Public bug reported:

i just installed (5.10.2006) edgy. everything seems to work perfectly, BUT if i
try to create a new document on the desktop or in my /home/user folder, i can
read a nice "Vous n'avez pas la permission d'écrire dans la destination" !! but
i can create a folder ! hmm .. More, when i try to "set time and date" an
non-less beautiful "You are not allowed to access the system configuration" is
displayed .. even if sudo is well configured.
"sudo chown isi.isi /home/isi" and "sudo chmod -R 755 /home/isi"
did not help ..
perhaps is there a link: i installed ubuntu without installing grub, using the
debian's one (installed on an other partition) and i don't have the
splashscreen during boot (and even if i should see it, i prefer without, but
that's a personal point of view ...) does all this things related to partition
uuid ???
Thanks for help.

[Bug 430809] Re: [Dell Latitude D430, iwl3945] Wireless can't be activated after disabling kill switch

2009-10-02 Thread Isi
I have a similar problem, it happened me when I updated from Jaunty to
Karmic Alpha 6. The point is that if i boot with the live cd the wifi
works perfectly. Therefore the problem is related with the upgrade :(
I'm waiting for the bug fix.

[Bug 435141] Re: Intel 5300 AGN does not work at all Karmic Alpha 6

2009-10-02 Thread Isi
For me "sudo rfkill unblock 0" works but i have to do it each time I start
the machine. It happens after updating in Karmic Alpha 6. With the live cd
works.

Perhaps my problem is related with:

[Bug 435141] Re: Intel 5300 AGN does not work at all Karmic Alpha 6

2009-09-24 Thread Isi
Hello,

I have use a live CD of Kubuntu Karmic Koala Alpha 6 and the wireless
works !!!

I attach the dmesg file where the lines related with the wifi are:

[  306.635709] Registered led device: iwl-phy0::TX

In my updated ubuntu from Jaunty to Karmic Koala Alpha6 do not appear this lines

[ 78.175907] iwlagn :0c:00.0: loaded firmware version 8.24.2.12
[   78.358739] Registered led device: iwl-phy0::radio

[  306.635668] Registered led device: iwl-phy0::RX
[  306.635709] Registered led device: iwl-phy0::TX

It could be a problem of updating instead of doing a fresh install, some
idea on how to fix it or how to see what's the problem before the final
release?

Regards

[Bug 435141] Re: Intel 5300 AGN does not work at all Karmic Alpha 6

2009-09-24 Thread Isi
I have the old kernel from Jaunty installed and I have remove the kernel
and modules of karmic and reinstalled, it has not worked :(

One addititional comment, the interface wlan0 is created, in fact you
can see it if you run in a termianl "ifconfig -a". However, If i try to
activate it I have the next result:

sudo ifconfig wlan0 up
SIOCSIFFLAGS: Unknown error 132

Network Manager seems to detect the wireless but it detects the wireless
like unactivated, i tick the option of "Enable Wireless" in
knetworkmanager but nothing happens :( Always it is the same after the
karmic update. I will not reinstall the machine unless i need the
wireless for something special. While, I will wait to see what is the
problem

[Bug 435141] Re: Intel 5300 AGN does not work at all Karmic Alpha 6

2009-09-24 Thread Isi
Finally I have found how to make run the wifi, using rfkill.

rfkill initially shows:

 rfkill list
0: phy0: Wireless LAN
Soft blocked: yes
Hard blocked: no
1: hci0: Bluetooth
Soft blocked: yes
Hard blocked: no

However the device can be unblocked:

rfkill unblock 0
[rfkill list
0: phy0: Wireless LAN
Soft blocked: no
Hard blocked: no
1: hci0: Bluetooth
Soft blocked: yes
Hard blocked: no

Therefore the probem is why with a fresh install is not necessary to
this and it is necessary if you have done an upgrade from jaunty

I hope this help
