[Bug 363738] Re: Wireless (WPA) connection is not stable
I face a similar problem with Ubuntu 09.10 then 10.04LTS then 10.04-1LTS. I'm running an Atheros 5001 chip with ath5k driver. I changed "network-manager" to "wicd" with some improvement, reverted to "network-manager" and added "wifi radar" then removed the last. Things deteriorated with the last kernel update a few days ago with 2.6.32-26 and I reverted to 2.6.32-25, which was far better on my computer. I eventually found the folowing bug thread : https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/lucid/+source/network-manager/+bug/373680 According to the procedure proposed there I replaced my "network-manager 0.8-0ubuntu3" packet by "0.8-0ubuntu3+volanin1" (see Question #135241) and my wifi connexion is very steady now, not perfect (ping test will show a loss of nearly 10%) but much better. The remaining lack of performance is shown by the ping test but while surfing on the net I don't face anymore visible disconnections. -- Wireless (WPA) connection is not stable https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/363738 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 373680] Re: network-manager fails periodically , on backgound networks scan?
I'm currently running linux 2.6.32-25-generic in Lucid after reverting from 2.6.32-26 which was awfully unsteady : a disconnexion of Wifi every 2 minutes. Things have improved coming back to -25 but are still not perfect. I tried also wicd without results. The ath5k driver is used for this WLAN card with Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR5001 Wireless Network Adapter (rev 01). I replaced "network-manager 0.8-0ubuntu3" by "network-manager 0.8-0ubuntu3+volanin1" and things have really improved : the wifi connexion looks like rock-steady now. I agree that I lost some roaming ability (in fact I think that if I reboot in a new place, network-manager will scan the area and I will have to choose a network and stick to it, true or false ?). I consider there is a very serious bug here and a wifi connexion which stops every 2 or 3 minutes, to automatically reconnect sometimes after a few seconds, other times (as with 2.6.32-26) stay during minutes unconnected, some other times having to reboot the computer !!! is not acceptable. Many thanks to Wagner Volanin for is patch which I will use until a lasting fix is found for "network-manager" -- network-manager fails periodically , on backgound networks scan? https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/373680 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 539582] Re: VT Consoles 1-6 only display a flickering screen with vga16fb
Same here, I had a fully working 09.10 Karmic Koala and after having upgraded to 10.04 I lost both "recovery mode startup" and tty1 to tty6. In both instances the screen is flickering and unreadable. After applying #3 procedure the screen becomes steady and garbled but still unreadable, however it seems that I can BLINDLY type in commands with a supposed QWERTY keyboard (mine is AZERTY). One question : what does mean "Should anyone else run into this, the fix^H^H^Hworkaround is to add "intelfb.blacklist=1" to the installer's command line." ? -- VT Consoles 1-6 only display a flickering screen with vga16fb https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/539582 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 301958] Re: [needs-packaging] no working driver for sis 671/771 video cards
@gh1234, Thanks, I did it already several times but it does only one thing : - without this blacklisting of fb16 the screen is flickering ; - after blacklisting and sudo update-initramfs -u it becomes steady but totally garbled and still unreadable. I read with interest the https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/539582 link and this bug looks like an old and unfriendly one, I can only hope it will be corrected some day. -- [needs-packaging] no working driver for sis 671/771 video cards https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/301958 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 301958] Re: [needs-packaging] no working driver for sis 671/771 video cards
Hi this driver sis671 works well for me and provides a nice 1280*800 resolution BUT I cannot boot from grub2 in "recovery mode" nor make a CTRL+ALT+F1 to 6 to get a "tty terminal", the only thing I get then is a flickering and unreadable terminal. -- [needs-packaging] no working driver for sis 671/771 video cards https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/301958 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
