[Bug 99965] Re: [needs-packaging] celtx

2008-06-18 Thread jclemon
I would still really like to see this, as Celtx just recently hit 1.0.
I don't know if it would be a good idea to separate Celtx from
xulrunner, since Hardy now uses Firefox 3 and I'm pretty sure it's
version of xulrunner would only cause problems with Celtx...

[Bug 122213] Re: Installing a gdm theme changes "Selected Only" to "Random from Selected"

I've also had this issue in Hardy, and it's always with a fresh install;
once I've reset it to Selected Only, the problem never re-appears. I
will look for a bug in Gnome's database.

[Bug 14774] Re: [shares-admin] Shared folders requires a login

2008-04-06 Thread jclemon
Something I discovered from trying to setup sharing in both Ubuntu and
Fedora:

An easy way to setup sharing is to install the system-config-samba
application, which I think should be installed by default along with
Samba. With that utility I was able to setup users for Samba sharing as
well as easily defining my shares. I did have to log-in as root to
change the permissions on the share (in my case /data), so that everyone
had read/write access, but that's because I'm not proficient w/ using
chmod as a sudo command. After that, I was able to map the network
drive from a Windows laptop and successfully access the shared folder.
My MacBook on the other hand, still cannot access it...

[Bug 196263] Re: Desktop icons not appearing

2008-02-28 Thread jclemon
Originally, this bug didn't seem to happen until I created another user
account.

I've re-installed and updated Gutsy, and now I can't replicate this bug.
I made some desktop folders and files, created another user account, and
logged out/rebooted all without any problems. After doing this Update
Notifier popped up with a few updates, and one of them was for Nautilus.
I'll keep trying, but I don't think I'm gonna run into this bug again

[Bug 150825] Wireless settings aren't saved

2007-10-08 Thread jclemon
Public bug reported:

I am running Gutsy beta with a Linksys WMP54G. I am connected to an

[Bug 27667] Re: Problems with xresprobe & Samsung 243T LCD

2007-09-28 Thread jclemon
I absolutely agree. With the post-install giving too low a resolution
it would def. give a bad impression of Ubuntu, esp. on an LCD where a
lower resolution (ie non-native) tends to make fonts and such a much
poorer readibility. I'm very happy w/ the work being done in Gutsy w/
the new GUI tool to change resolution and such. Fixing this issue would
be the icing on the cake. ;)

Drivel there was no option on the drop-down list directly for Wordpress.
Reading the FAQ didn't help me very much, I ended up having to guess
what the path to my xmlrpc.php file was, as well as select Moveable
Type. It should be changed to where Wordpress is an option in the
dropdown list, and all that needs to be provided is the username and
password. Wordpress is a popular enough blogging site that it needs to
be better implemented in what is an otherwise great blogging program.

[Bug 124148] M-Audio Revolution: no sound in the rear speakers

2007-07-05 Thread jclemon
Public bug reported:

I have an M-Audio Revolution 7.1 which is recognized and installed,
however no sound is coming from the rear speakers. There is no option
to duplicate front speakers like many onboard systems have. This
feature needs to be added and the PCM Rear sliders will have some use.

Same issue with a Klipsch ProMedia 4.1 speaker set connected to my

[Bug 122213] Re: Installing a gdm theme changes "Selected Only" to "Random from Selected"

2007-06-27 Thread jclemon
I am using Ubuntu Feisty 64bit. I don't know if the bug shows up a
second time, but here are the steps I did after I had done a fresh
install:

1. Download a gdm theme from gnome-look.org
2. Open "Login Window" under System -> Administration
3. Click "Local" tab
4. Click "Add"
5. select downloaded file and click "Install"
6. Select the radio button next to the newly installed gdm theme. Note that it
is still set on "Selected Only"
7. For this step, either reboot the computer or simply log out (I can't
remember if it does it for both)
8. You will see a completely random gdm theme
9. Login and re-open the "Login Window" prefs
10. You will see "Selected Only" has been changed on its own to "Random from
selected"
11. Change it back to "Selected Only"
12. That gdm theme will now show up from then on

I will install another gdm theme and report back if it does it again or
not, or if its just that first custom installed gdm theme.

[Bug 122213] Installing a gdm theme changes "Selected Only" to "Random from Selected"

2007-06-25 Thread jclemon
Public bug reported:

I installed a gdm theme from www.gnome-look.org. I selected that gdm
theme to use, and "Selected Only" was already chosen. When I next
logged in though, a totally different gdm theme was used. Checking the
control panel again, it was set to "Random from Selected". I changed it
back and now it seems to work fine.

[Bug 41147] Re: Wrong default paper size for printing

2007-05-22 Thread jclemon
I'm running 2.2.0-1ubuntu3, and I am having the same issue. In
Format->Page option, I have it set to letter. But in Print->Options it
is set to A4. However, once I added my HP LaserJet 1200 and set it as
my default printer, I re-started OpenOffice Writer, and under
Print->Options it is set to Letter, since my printer is set to default.
Maybe A4 is the distro default when no printer has been added/made
default?

[Bug 110481] Sound output is not stereo until volume slider is moved

2007-04-27 Thread jclemon
Public bug reported:

I have an M-Audio Revolution 7.1. I was happy that under Feisty I now
have a joint slider (2 locked together) in GNOME Volume Control for PCM
level control. However, when I first boot up and start playing an audio
or movie file, sound is only output on the right side. I have to nudge
the slider (distance doesn't seem to matter) in order for the sound to
properly ouput in stereo. I'm not sure if this is an ALSA bug or GNOME
bug.

fine, Sound Juicer still open and running.

[Bug 99941] Re: Incorrect song length reported

2007-04-13 Thread jclemon
Ouch, it seems Gentoo will be removing XMMS entirely :( Are other
distros going to follow suit? I've tried out BMP, but it feels like
abandonware to me at this point. Surely I'm not the only one who
doesn't like using something like Rhythmbox or Banshee for casual
listening...

Hi Chris. Do you mean you're unable to get Banshee to sort correctly

only Album Title that is messing up.

Stupid question, but is the only reason for having Abiword and Abiword-
Gnome so that KDE/Xfce/etc users can install Abiword without alot of

thought Abiword used gtk.

[Bug 24195] Re: OpenDocument plugin should be shipped with Abiword, not -plugins

2007-04-12 Thread jclemon
Is this really a bug or more just the choice of the AbiWord developers?
OpenOffice and KOffice have committed to the OpenDocument file format,
but so far the Abiword team seems to be sticking with RTF as their
default. Hard to tell since their website is rarely updated, and I
haven't been keeping track of the 2.3.x development series. I
personally would like to see the OpenDocument support moved into the
Abiword package, even if it must be done by Debian/Ubuntu developers
after-the-fact.

[Bug 103994] Banshee unable to correctly sort via Album title

2007-04-06 Thread jclemon
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: banshee

The current (as of 07/04/2007) version of Banshee in Feisty cannot sort
song by Album title correctly. Sorting by Title or Artist, ascending or
descending, works correctly, but sorting either way by Album title puts
the Albums in random order (for me it goes M -> S -> D -> # -> A -> D
and on and on).

[Bug 99941] Re: Incorrect song length reported

2007-04-06 Thread jclemon
Under Feisty:

With xmms-mad disabled, song lengths are correct upon loading into playlist,
and load very quickly.
With xmms-mad enabled and "use fast playtime calculation" enabled, song lengths
are incorrect when loaded and played. Load time is very slow.
With xmms-mad enabled and "use fast playtime calculation" disabled, song
lengths are incorrect when loaded, but change to the correct length when that
song is played. Load time is still low, but a little quicker than when enabled.

So it looks like the same thing happens in Feisty.
