[Bug 803998] Re: unity freezes when changing workspace/desktop
Glad to have a programming competent person report this bug. They way I got here was to check the version of pm-utils on Ubuntu 11.04 and Lubuntu 11.04. Same version. Lubuntu does not use Unity although it installs some unity files. My problem with freezing is the window darkens and I cannot use Chrome, cannot switch to other tabs, cannot do anything in an open Chrome tab, did I say this happens when using my default browser. Since this happens with Ubuntu 11.04, and not with Lubuntu 11.04 or Lubuntu 11.10, I deducted that it is a Unity bug, although this could be a false assumption. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/803998 Title: unity freezes when changing workspace/desktop To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/803998/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 762203] Re: Computer is not turned off at shutdown
This initial bug report (kudos to the bug reporter for bothering) is about an upgrade. I can report the problem is the same with a new Natty install. I have removed quiet splash and run 'update-grub'. Still have the problem. Used the solution for past versions. Added 'acpi=force' , updated grub and that works. Would prefer a better solution. [Bug 649416] Re: GRUB_TIMEOUT_HIDDEN
And, a curious thing, this seems to occur with a new install and NOT from an excisting one. The Ubuntu 10.04.01 system from which I type this comment, shows the startup message, “GRUB loading. please wait… Press Esc to enter the menu…” even after upgrade to most recent image. So, I have noticed the problem only after an upgrade to Maverick, or a complete re-install back to Lucid when Maverick failed, and again when I went thru the upgrade - revert cycle. -- GRUB_TIMEOUT_HIDDEN https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/649416 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 649416] [NEW] GRUB_TIMEOUT_HIDDEN
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: grub I am using 10.04.1 LTS (stable) although this most likely applies to Maverick as well since it is lacking the same initial screen. grub: Installed: (none) Candidate: 0.97-29ubuntu60 Version table: 0.97-29ubuntu60 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid/main Packages grub2: Installed: (none) Candidate: 1.98-1ubuntu7 Version table: 1.98-1ubuntu7 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid-updates/universe Packages 1.98-1ubuntu5 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid/universe Packages I liked the initial screen that said “GRUB loading. please wait… Press Esc to enter the menu…” That has been changed with the latest Grub which is not Grub2 but is. If you are thoroughly confused, think of this poor dumb user. By reading Lucid release notes (everybody always reads all the release notes, right?) I discovered that I must hold down the Shfit key. Since I liked the visual cue as to when I could press a key to go to the menu, I tried to make it reappear by 'sudo gedit /etc/default/grub'; changing GRUB_TIMEOUT_HIDDEN=true to GRUB_TIMEOUT_HIDDEN=false; then 'sudo update-grub.' The update occurred but nothing changed. I expected to have a visual cue that I could invoke the menu if I chose, yet still lack one. Re: [Bug 84884] Re: update-manager crashed: AttributeError: UpdateList instance has no attribute 'distUpgradeWouldDelete'
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 84776 *** I used aptitude. A number of updates were run, including a new version of dpkg. No longer had a problem with update-manger. Ran update-manager, it rand updates successfully. Ran it again today. It crashed. Actually, gnome-panel crashed. Restarted Ubuntu. Ran aptitude, it updated successfully. Will leave well enough alone for now. Actually, prefer apt-get / synaptic or aptitude. They seem to crash less and avoid misinformation. Every time I start Update-Manager, it says my system is update, but when I run Check, it shows that it isn't.
