[Bug 773154] Re: Atheros AR9285 extremely slow unstable on 11.04

2011-06-06 Thread joe_d
Hi have this exact problem with a Toshiba NB200 Netbook on Ubuntu 11.04
(64 bit) which has the Atheros AR9825 WiFi.

It basically works perfectly within 1-2 meters of the wireless hub but
going into another room or a different floor renders the WiFi connection
useless.

It should be noted that it works perfectly find using exactly the same
hardware on WinXP.

So far, I have tried both the linux-backports-modules-net-natty-generic
package and also compiling and installing the latest compat-wireless but
to no avail.

[Bug 368079] Re: ltsp-client chroot is missing the python-serial package

2009-04-28 Thread joe_d
I can confirm that the above-mentioned workaround solves the problem.
Thank you!

[Bug 368079] [NEW] ltsp not launching jetpipe on startup

2009-04-27 Thread joe_d
Public bug reported:

This occurs in 64-bit Ubuntu 9.04

From the chroot, a 'ps aux | grep jetpipe' shows that Jetpipe is not
running.

In 8.04, the /opt/ltsp/i386/etc/rcS.d/S32ltsp-client-setup file
contained '/usr/sbin/jetpipe ${DEVICE} ${PORT}' on line 130, but this no
longer seems to be the case on 9.04.

 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 368079] Re: ltsp not launching jetpipe on startup

2009-04-27 Thread joe_d
It probably is only supposed to start when the appropriate parameters
are set in lts.conf, but even with all of the instructions at
http://www.ltsp.org/twiki/bin/view/Ltsp/Printers followed, it is still
not running in the chroot after a successful boot.

I suppose it's possible that it is being executed from somewhere other
than S32ltsp-client-setup now, but execution is failing.

The reason I say this is because if I manually run `/usr/sbin/jetpipe
/dev/usb/lp0 9100' from the chroot, it fails with an error relating to
the line `import serial'. If that line is commented out, jetpipe runs
and works exactly as it's supposed to, allowing access to the
/dev/usb/lp0 device via a connection to port 9100.

[Bug 49613] Re: Adobe Flash does not support WMODE (Flash content always rendered on top of web pages)

2008-07-04 Thread joe_d
I am using NSPluginWrapper on an AMD64 and can confirm that this issue
is NOT fixed in the latest beta of Flash 10.

My about:plugins in Firefox 3 reports the following:

File name: npwrapper.libflashplayer.so
Shockwave Flash 10.0.0 d525

The fixed issues list for the latest beta on the Adobe site does not
seem to suggest that this issue has been addressed, either.

Sorry, I'm actually using NSPluginWrapper with Intel Core 2, not AMD64
:-)

[Bug 49613] Re: Flash content always on top of web pages

2008-06-07 Thread joe_d
Voting for this buy at http://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/FP-80 is
imperative to ensure that Adobe gives it the attention it deserves.

I have also started a new thread in the Adobe Flash 10 Beta discussion
forum here:

http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/webforums/forum/messageview.cfm?forumid=72catid=675threadid=1365111enterthread=y

Posting to both this forum with references to this thread and the bug
thread will help highlight this issue to Adobe and other users who are
affected by it but don't know what they're supposed to do about it.

We are coming up on the SECOND ANNIVERSARY (June 13th 2006!!!) of when
this bug was originally files on Launchpad, so it's about time something
was done about this.

[Bug 216235] Re: Taskbar buttons missing in Wine 0.9.59

Update: Just installed the newly-released Wine 1.0-rc3 and am happy to
report that Nusphere phpEd 5.2.0 (Build 5240) now displays properly in
the taskbar on Hardy x86_64 running Gnome/Compiz.

[Bug 216235] Re: Taskbar buttons missing in Wine 0.9.59

2008-05-30 Thread joe_d
I can confirm that this problem exists on Hardy x86_64 running
Gnome/Compiz too. I have tried running two programs via Wine 0.9.59:

Nusphere phpEd: 5.2.0 (Build 5240): Program does not show in taskbar

Macromedia Fireworks 8 : Works Fine

As previous people have noted with other programs, the only way to close
Nusphere phpEd after minimizing it is to kill the process from the CLI
or System Monitor.
