[Bug 1278054] Re: [13.10] Ubuntu detects a non-existing screen

2014-04-02 Thread lijo
I too face the same issue. As a result the mouse keeps flickering and at
times becomes almost invisible due to the very high rate of flickering,
affecting the normal use of the system. I feel this is a critical issue.

I am using launcher icon of QtCreator which I have pinned to the
launcher to start the application. Sometimes application is not getting
started after clicking the launcher icon. App icon is getting animated
and after few seconds animation stops but the app is not getting

Update:
It looks removing the nouveau alone solved the problem, as the nvidia
proprietary driver is not being used currently.

[Bug 837208] [NEW] System freezes during login after upgrade from Ubuntu 10.10 to 11.04

2011-08-30 Thread lijo
Public bug reported:

I have upgraded my desktop from Ubuntu 10.10 to 11.04(both amd64)
Upgrade was completed successfully. System was rebooted and I got the graphical
login prompt.
Every thing was normal for some time, but while I typed the password system got
frozen.
Mouse pointer got stuck and system stopped responding to mouse and keyboard.
I tried (hard)rebooting multiple times, and each time the behaviour was same.
I had not experienced any such issues with Ubuntu 10.10.

After some search I found nouveau driver could be the suspect.
So I boot up into recovery console, removed "xserver-xorg-video-nouveau"
package and installed the nvidia proprietary driver
"NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-275.21" instead. This solved the problem and the system is
working fine.

System details:
Type: Desktop
Hardware: HP Compaq 8100 Elite Convertible Minitower
CPU: Intel Core i5 CPU 650 @ 3.20GHz (amd64)
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti
