It appears that it uses the most recently installed browser installed via apt. I generally install Epiphany as a fallback browser for various things, and it naturally supersedes Firefox as default browser (even though I want Firefox as default.) Installing Dillo will set it as default. Of course, this issue is not confined to Nautilus. It will also improperly trigger on xdg-open, which means that a variety of (properly engineered) programs fail to use the proper browser. It's a general issue with crappy CD writers (and in my experience anything older than 1 year is crappy, and even brand new, stock drives can be lemons.) If there were a way to make 1/2 the maximum speed the default when burning an ISO, I think that would be good. 1/2 max really might be a good sane default in general, though for raw audio CDs full speed isn't really an issue. I've been trying to isolate the issue, and I've come up with this list: What works: firefox + flash + no add-ons What doesn't work: suspend, with or without firefox or rhythmbox open (Though on occasion I suspend and resume and it works fine.) firefox-3.5 + flash + no add-ons (other than Ubuntu mods) hangs, and I get the same output that I get when running firefox after a suspend, i.e. a stream of: ALSA lib pulse.c:272:(pulse_connect) PulseAudio: Unable to connect: Connection refused. This is not a sound card issue, as it is new since an update in the past month or two, and I've had no issues on this box for over 2 years. This is in 9.04. I have the same problem under Hardy (I think I also had it under gutsy, just kind of ignored it.) Now that I'm hibernating a lot it's really annoying. [Bug 153781] Gutsy upgrade breaks plywood.
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: plywood I reformatted my ubuntu partition for the upgrade to Gutsy, and installed plywood, but it doesn't work. I get this error message when trying to make a pdf out of a .ply that worked fine under feisty: Traceback (most recent call last): File /usr/bin/plywood, line 5, in module from pkg_resources import load_entry_point ImportError: No module named pkg_resources I thought I got it to do something earlier, but it doesn't even get to making any files. I ran latex on an older .tex output from the same file, and I got a missing fancyheadings.sty message. I just spent an hour trying to decipher this error message from plywood, a latex package which I installed after upgrading: Traceback (most recent call last): File /usr/bin/plywood, line 5, in module from pkg_resources import load_entry_point ImportError: No module named pkg_resources Turns out the culprit (I hope the sole culprit) was the lack of fancyheadings.sty. At the very least, maybe a link to fancyhdr so that this doesn't break outdated packages? Please, latex is not used by people with the time to go re-engineering packages that do their job perfectly well. That's what makes latex good. I don't want to have to think about fancyheadings vs fancyhdr when all I want to do is print out a draft of something that probably won't be published anyway.
