[Bug 1674570] [NEW] New caja window swallows the first typed letter
Public bug reported: Steps to reproduce: 1) Open a new Caja window, e.g Placees -> Home Folder 2) Type "temp" 3) See that the box at the bottom contains only "emp" and "Templates" is not selected. +1 for #48 On an Lenovo Thinkpad X200s with ext4 SSD (256GB Crucial V4) and some integrated Intel graphics, it is reproducible even when just /etc/init.d/lightdm restart -ing it from console, doing so happens every 15th time or so. [Bug 574383] Re: Ambiance theme input boxes color gray
No, this would create a bigger mess at bigger scale, just try out the High Contrast Inverse theme (white text on dark blue background). Also I just noticed that the equations are now always black (so the other half of my last comment does not hold anymore, changed the original description as well). So LibreOffice does everything as best as it can now. But I am still conviced that we shouldn't put gray text on light gray background in the default theme. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/574383 Title: Ambiance theme input boxes color gray To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/+bug/574383/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 574383] Re: Ambiance theme input boxes color gray
** Description changed: Binary package hint: light-themes Input boxes color is gray. There are two good reasons for this to be black. - 1. We should never reduce the contrast of text by default, because it kills accessibility. A lot of bad monitors are out there which are hard to read anyway. + We should never reduce the contrast of text by default, because it kills accessibility. A lot of bad monitors are out there which are hard to read anyway. - 2. Openoffice uses "Input boxes" text color by default for document default text color. If this is gray, all documents will have gray text and gray formulas. While 50/256 gray is somewhat ok on screen, it produces nasty results on print (causing rasterised output, which makes all curves jiggly). This is A Bad Thing™, and definitely worse for the default theme. - The worst of this is that the gray default color is saved into document and changing the theme color affects only newly created ones. One could change the color of "Default" text style back to black, but if you have formulas, then these remain gray even after that. AFAIK only workaround for formulas is adding "color black {}" to all formulas. - - - While we could argue that openoffice shouldn't use "input box text" color, but for the first argument I think the theme should be adjusted. - - ProblemType: Bug - DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04 - Package: light-themes 0.1.6.5 - ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.32-22.33-generic 2.6.32.11+drm33.2 - Uname: Linux 2.6.32-22-generic x86_64 - Architecture: amd64 - Date: Mon May 3 14:13:28 2010 - InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.04 "Lucid Lynx" - Alpha amd64 (20100113) - PackageArchitecture: all - ProcEnviron: - LANG=et_EE.utf8 - SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: light-themes -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/574383 Title: Ambiance theme input boxes color gray To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/+bug/574383/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 574383] Re: Ambiance theme input boxes color gray
Hate to say it, but it's even worse since changing that color back to black is now harder than before when we had Gnome 2 and nice dialog for this. Virtually ALL text on screen is gray, half of it on gray background as well, with web and mail being the only exceptions. It makes reading harder. People sometimes use their laptops in sunny rooms, in direct sunlight, they may have poor eyesight, they would like to reduce screen brightness to save battery, etc. In all these mentioned cases having lower contrast is wrong. Actually it doesn't affect exporting to PDF or printing from LibreOffice, text is converted to black. But there is one huge exception, equations still remain gray everywhere. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/574383 Title: Ambiance theme input boxes color gray To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/light-themes/+bug/574383/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 491055] Re: Gnome-volume-control and -applet do not switch volume controls when new audio output is inserted
Please, someone take a look at this. I once more describe how to trigger this one: 1. Connect USB speakers (pretty cheap these days) 2. use gnome-volume-control to change output to USB speakers 3. see how your laptops volume buttons work good with these 4. disconnect USB speakers, volume comes from the internal speakers 5. test how volume buttons are still good 6. reconnect USB speakers, sound comes from these 7. but volume buttons still drive internal speakers' volume, so have no effect As a workaround you need to open gnome-volume-control again (you probably had it closed), and from output choose internal speakers (which causes the sound to jump to these) and pick USB speakers again. Now everything is as expected. While including the jump of sound, this is a lousy workaround. So what should gnome-volume-control do? Every time a *previously used*, but simply disconnected (and not chosen to be unused before that) device reappears, it should be selected as default device. Since this is exactly what pulseaudio does, you don't even have to trigger the output change, it is done in pulseaudio anyway (not sure if this is a good or bad thing). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/491055 Title: Gnome-volume-control and -applet do not switch volume controls when new audio output is inserted -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I think this *is* a important bug, since it has major drawbacks in printing. [Bug 574383] [NEW] Ambiance theme input boxes color gray
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: light-themes Input boxes color is gray. There are two good reasons for this to be black. 1. We should never reduce the contrast of text by default, because it kills accessibility. A lot of bad monitors are out there which are hard to read anyway. 2. The worst of this is that the gray default color is saved into document and changing the theme color affects only newly created ones. One could change the color of "Default" text style back to black, but if you have formulas, then these remain gray even after that. AFAIK only workaround for formulas is adding "color black {}" to all formulas. While we could argue that openoffice shouldn't use "input box text" color, but for the first argument I think the theme should be adjusted. ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04 Package: light-themes 0.1.6.5 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.32-22.33-generic 2.6.32.11+drm33.2 Uname: Linux 2.6.32-22-generic x86_64 Architecture: amd64 Date: Mon May 3 14:13:28 2010 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.04 "Lucid Lynx" - Alpha amd64 (20100113) PackageArchitecture: all ProcEnviron: LANG=et_EE.utf8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: light-themes ** Affects: light-themes (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: lucid printing theme -- Ambiance theme input boxes color gray https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/574383 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 55273] Re: inkscape generates no latex formula
Sorry to disappoint you, but current practice is to mark bug "fix released" when patch is committed to trunk. This is simply to reduce the time some developer would need to waste marking "fix committed" bugs as "fix released". This has been discussed, this probably will not change. If you really need this patch you can compile inkscape yourself, this isn't that hard at all, just follow http://inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/CompilingUbuntu and you will get a bunch of additional breathtaking new features (and some bugs). -- inkscape generates no latex formula https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/55273 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
