no, but I am behind a sonicwall firewall with packet filtering. That can
cause latency and has been known to crash programs in the windows world..

They have a fix for this bug but do not include it because it does render
the OS unstable when applied.

In my opinion, this bug is a severe regressions from the previous release
of Ubuntu, I don't know why this bug isn't been marked as an high-impact bug
and why it isn't still been fixed...

An os without audio isn't a usable os.

p.s.: if you need some informations/tests on my pc, pls ask me

Re: [Bug 136308] Re: Sound doesn't work on ATI SB450 HDA Audio using 2.6.20-16 kernel (but 2.6.20-15 works fine)

2007-11-02 Thread mattmyers83
It will never be a fix, the ATI SB450 is an AC97 codec chipset designed for
windows. Its a super crappy sound card, Ubuntu purposely will not fix this
because when its working it makes the system unstable.

[Bug 17216] Re: Hard drive spindown should be configurable

2007-10-10 Thread mattmyers83
I have a Toshiba a105-s171 with the same issue. its like my hard drive
goes to spin down every 10 seconds and then comes back up again. this
causes the machine to act jerky. I think a configurable power
management control panel would be great. this way we can choose when
the drive goes down or how to throttle the cpu etc

[Bug 151419] (Gutsy) totem does not automatically play video files in firefox if the codecs are not installed through the totem program first

2007-10-10 Thread mattmyers83
Public bug reported:

On a fresh install I have to bring up Totem program and install the plug
ins for a certain file type before the firefox plugin will recognize the
file type. I think the totem plug-in should automatically bring up the
option to install a new codec from fire fox as oppose to having to open
the program first then install it.
