[Bug 1303945] [NEW] Continue button is greyed out
Public bug reported: I'm running the daily edubuntu i386 dvd on a laptop with a secured wireless connection. Sometimes when I get to the "Edubuntu installation options (part 2)" page, the Continue button is greyed out. Going back and then continuing again seems to fix this. Previously, this happened when I first arrived at the page, but the second time, I arrived at the page and waited a bit, then it happened. I've seen the same problem on the "Installation type" page as well. [Bug 1302883] [NEW] Ubuntu 14.04: Moving a window when Workspace Switcher is active does not release cursor
Public bug reported: Upgraded to Ubuntu 14.04 (beta 2) from 13.10 (via: sudo update-manager -d) - 64bit version. After logging in (GUI) and pressing [SUPER / Windows key]-S (or by clicking on the icon on the launcher bar) to bring up Workspace Switcher, then left-clicking-and-keep-pressing on an app's window and keeping left mouse button pressed while dragging it, moves that window, with the mouse cursor being changed to a hand (sometimes to an up- arrow). Upon release of the left mouse button to stop dragging the window, the mouse cursor is not being changed back, the window keeps its last position when the left mouse button was released, yet upon pressing [SUPER / Windows key] the previously dragged window "jumps" to the new location of the mouse cursor, and the hand cursor stays. Left-clicking on any of the workspaces does nothing. Pressing [SUPER / Windows key]-S switches the mouse cursor back to the default pointer and the previously dragged window drops at that point in time to the cursor's position and the mouse functions again as usual. Sometimes this happens right away, sometimes this happens only after moving a window around a bit (several drag'n drop attempts). ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: unity workspace-switcher ** Description changed: Upgraded to Ubuntu 14.04 (beta 2) from 13.10 (via: sudo update-manager -d) - 64bit version. The bug was apparent in 13.10, but I do not see it after upgrade to 14.04 (amd64). I do not see dhclient in lsof output but I have not check with ps. [Bug 1282203] Re: gnome-terminal not respecting "Enable menu access keys" setting, inside the Unity desktop environment.
I observe that the menu access keys are correctly disabled if UBUNTU_MENUPROXY=0 is set in the environment, disabling the global menu to revert to menu bar drawn within the gnome-terminal window. Therefore, I've marked the bug as also affecting unity, as it seems highly likely that at least some of the fix will need to be in Unity rather than gnome-terminal. ** Also affects: unity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1282203 Title: gnome-terminal not respecting "Enable menu access keys" setting, inside the Unity desktop environment. [Bug 1274908] [NEW] Consider adding a 'semi automatic' audio change switch to HDMI input.
Public bug reported: I've read the various discussions about this, but they seem to fail to take account of the fact that the user knows what he/she wants. I had the common use-case where I want audio to automatically be enabled for the hdmi when I plug the cable in. Note that I don't want that decision to be made for me, but I am quite happy to toggle a switch to say that is, indeed, what I want. So, for example : 0) I want to watch something on my laptop displayed on my TV 1) I plug in the HDMI cable 1a) but no audio..what's wrong?...I do a quick search on the internet and/or stumble on the 'Sound settings' and see an HDMI entry 2) I click on HDMI 2a) yeah! sound! nice! 3) watch something 4) unplug HDMI device 4a) audio reverts to laptop's built-in speakers 5) the next day, I decide I want to watch something else 6) go to 0) 7) I now wonder why, at point 2a), there can't be a switch that I can toggle to make it do this every time I plug in the HDMI cable. Since the audio is actually switched, and there is something happening in the tool to make the 'HDMI' entry appear, I don't see why there can't be a switch to make it switch the audio automatically when it is connected. Note that I *don't* mean that something has to automatically decide for every user if this should happen, but each individual user surely already knows if they do want this (or not) and can tell the tool which way it should be (and save the setting, of course). ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1274908 Title: Consider adding a 'semi automatic' audio change switch to HDMI input. [Bug 1072518] Re: Restarting network crashes (apparently) the desktop manager
Hi thread. Sebastien, personally, I attempted to use that command several times already with the intent to reset my networking subsystem state. Because of some other bug, my system stops resolving hostnames at some point, and redoing the connection is the easiest way to make network operational again. And oftentimes, the simple CLI command is more accessible than half a dosen clicks. In short: I want to `restart networking` simply because I've restarted each and every service out there, and it was always fine. At least, it never ended up in any loss of my working data. As a bonus, `restart ` restarted *only* the service requested, not the whole desktop session. So, either the manual invokation of `/etc/init.d/networking restart` should require an interactive confirmation (with appropriate warnings about data loss), or even reject the command altogether. Or alternatively, if the `networking` service doesn't represent the networking subsystem itself, then it should be renamed. Or, if it does, then the question shall be answered: what's the bloody business networking subsystem has to do with DBus system bus? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1072518 Title: Restarting network crashes (apparently) the desktop manager To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1072518/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 739184] Re: [Libreoffice] Mnemonics do not work in Unity
Comment #79 works for me, thanks. So right now the options for users are: (a) Use the default Ubuntu install of LibreOffice: Your Alt+? keys don't work, so you can't open the File menu by pressing Alt+F, etc. (b) Remove "libreoffice-gtk": Your Alt+? keys work, but it looks very different to every other application on your system, and has lots of minor but disruptive bugs like being unable to maximize the window fully. (c) Remove the Ubuntu version of LibreOffice and install the one from the libreoffice.org: Everything works, but it lacks some minor Unity integration, as mentioned above. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/739184 Title: [Libreoffice] Mnemonics do not work in Unity To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/df-libreoffice/+bug/739184/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1069964] Re: Unable to mount Blank CD-R disc. Location is already mounted.
I have this problem with an iPhone. When connecting my iPhone via USB for the first time after boot, everything works fine. But if I unplug the phone and plug it back in later, I get the effect described here: a message box pops up saying "Unable to mount Max's iPhone | Location is already mounted". This message box cannot be closed. If I click "OK", literally nothing happens. It's like it's not even a button. If I click the "X" in the top-left corner, the button visibly depresses, but the message box doesn't close. There are no other effects; the iPhone always mounts normally and can be navigated via the file manager. On Ubuntu 13.10 with an iPhone 4S, but this has occurred for a very long time, maybe since 12.10. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1069964 Title: Unable to mount Blank CD-R disc. [Bug 1246992] [NEW] WiFi does not connect to WPA2-Enterprise network with TTLS and PAP auth
Public bug reported: Bug report: Attempting to connect to the campus WiFi network under a clean install of Ubuntu 13.10 fails. The network environment is set up using WPA2-Enterprise with TTLS and PAP authentication. There is no CA certificate for clients to install, students and faculty are instructed to set their hardware to ignore the nonexistence of a CA cert. My hardware is a Lenovo G780, the internal network card is a Broadcom BCM4313 I get the same behavior using a USB WiFi dongle by Belkin that I've had working on Ubuntu previous, so it's not just the Broadcom card giving the issue. Probably important: ++ On this same hardware running Ubuntu 12.04, I could connect to the campus WiFi network. ++ Checking the system logs, I can verify that the WiFi card is associating with the access point for the network. It fails somewhere during authentication. ++ I have the same behavior with a USB WiFi dongle known to work with Ubuntu - that's a belkin that I've got to work on plenty of other setups. I'm pretty sure it's NetworkManager with the error since the same behavior happens on the Broadcom internal chip on my laptop, and the Belkin WiFi USB dongle. [Bug 291760] Re: network-manager roams to (none) ((none)) - background scanning
Just getting this starting today (or perhaps yesterday), after a bunch of s/w was upgrade (so that's what I blame). Quite irritating since my other devices on the network are fine - it's just Ubuntu. - 13.04 in this case. Perhaps I'll try 13.10, since it was released today (iinm), but something makes me thing this problem will be in that too :/ Using a Lenovo X1 Carbon - not sure what h/w it has, but it seems to be unrelated to specific h/w. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/291760 Title: network-manager roams to (none) ((none)) - background scanning To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/291760/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1174275] Re: Random system freeze in 13.04
Hi. Had the same issues with ubuntu 12.04/12.10/13.04 on my laptop. The solution I found is to replace the kernel with the upstream kernel 3.9.0-030900-generic. It breaks the wifi , but that was fixed by installing the driver provided by Broadcom. [Bug 1223332] Re: [snb mesa blorp] False GPU lockup IPEHR: 0x7a000002
My keyboard is fully supported and I was routed to this bug. I do have man video issues tho. Mainly artifacts. especially when browsing the web, does not seem to be browser specific, nor does it see to be page specific. It creates rendering issues only in the page view area except in chrome where the tab descriptions are affected. The system menus are not. It may be related to other bugs in the default ubuntu video player (?totem still?) and vlc where the video files played cause the same issue, albeit rarely, and again no specifics observed. But more importantly no keyboard issues here. That being said the menu key always does seem to be pre-pressed on login meaning the dock is expanded at login, but it is not disabled -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1223332 Title: [snb mesa blorp] False GPU lockup IPEHR: 0x7a02 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/1223332/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
