[Bug 684982]
hi Kestrel, thank you for the reply. still no luck with dynamic workspaces disabled (confirmed the setting was correct also via "Tweaks" app, and set my static workspaces to a larger number than what i'm actively using (using 4 out of available 6). a few notes which may be relevant: - i am using Gnome Shell on wayland as my window manager - this is a laptop with an external monitor, the laptop lid is closed; monitor is the primary/only display - i am running Debian Bullseye with the firefox package installed from unstable/sid. - i am launching firefox with wayland support via `MOZ_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1` - laptop screen builtin scaling is different from monitor (2x vs. 1x respectively) here are my reproduction steps: 1) boot to GDM (wayland) 2) login to Gnome Shell (wayland) 3) open firefox 83.0 4) arrange windows on static workspaces (1-4 out of six total) 5) log out back to GDM 6) log in 7) ensure displays are configured as before 8) switch to workspace 1 9) launch firefox with `MOZ_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1` i have also tested replacing steps 5-7 with simply exiting firefox via Ctrl+Q. expected behavior: windows are restored to where they were prior to logout actual behavior: all windows are restored to workspace 1. sizes are correct, but x/y positions and workspace are incorrect. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/684982 Title: Firefox windows don't restore on correct workspaces To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/firefox/+bug/684982/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1] Re: Microsoft has a majority market share
Regards from Kaliningrad, Russia That bug is being fixed here partially by now, see below. Just to make sure, I visited some PC shops around and, to my surprise, found some computers with Ubuntu and few with FreeDOS (and, as consultant said, any linux distro from list could be installed for free). The fun is what some own Linux distro is used (AFAIK) by Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, and there is military Rosa linux (totally shitty from what I heard but still). Public bug reported: recently i have upgraded 4 VM-based systems to 16.04.1 LTS (Xenial Xerus). on startup, settings within /etc/network/interfaces do not appear to be taking effect reliably. specifically, the gateway and dns- settings have been problematic for me. on subsequent restarts, all or some of the settings take effect other times the gateway is set and the dns- options are not set. very problematic when the default gateway is not added to the routing table. the dns- settings were a bit easier to illustrate the issue. i added a comment to /etc/resolvconf/resolv.conf.d/base (# base) & etc/resolvconf/resolv.conf.d/tail (# tail). $ cat /etc/resolvconf/resolv.conf.d/* # base # Dynamic resolv.conf(5) file for glibc resolver(3) generated by resolvconf(8) # DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE BY HAND -- YOUR CHANGES WILL BE OVERWRITTEN # tail on startup on 1 of the systems showed this: $ cat /etc/resolv.conf # Dynamic resolv.conf(5) file for glibc resolver(3) generated by resolvconf(8) # DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE BY HAND -- YOUR CHANGES WILL BE OVERWRITTEN # tail you can see the "# base" comment wasn't added. let me know if i can add anymore details or if this should be posted somewhere else. $ lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS Release:16.04 $ apt-cache policy ifupdown ifupdown: Installed: 0.8.10ubuntu1.1 Candidate: 0.8.10ubuntu1.1 Version table: *** 0.8.10ubuntu1.1 500 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial-updates/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 0.8.10ubuntu1 500 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial/main amd64 Packages $ apt-cache policy resolvconf resolvconf: Installed: 1.78ubuntu2 Candidate: 1.78ubuntu2 Version table: *** 1.78ubuntu2 500 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial/main amd64 Packages 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial/main i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status ** Affects: ifupdown (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: resolvconf (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: resolvconf (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1628552 Title: on startup gateway & dns- options in /etc/network/interfaces are not always set To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ifupdown/+bug/1628552/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1545776] Re: 14.04 kernel does not log exec properly and aa-logprof fails
On Ubuntu 15.10 (4.2.0-16-generic) aa-genprof creates a similarly broken profile. On Ubuntu 16.04 beta 2 (4.4.0-15-generic) the "name" field is now present in syslog when operation="exec" and aa-genprof gives /usr/bin/find cx permission and creates a child profile. [Bug 1540194] [NEW] OpenGL stutter and freeze when rotation = Counterclockwise
Public bug reported: My PC is an Intel Core I3 and I use the built-in HD 4600 graphics. My display is 1680x1050, connected via DVI-D, Ubuntu version is 15.10 64-bit. I do a fresh Ubuntu install and install and run glmark2. The horse spins smoothly. I set "System settings -> Displays -> Rotation" to "Counterclockwise", rotate my display and run glmark2 again. Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report. The Nepomuk project is no longer included in the KDE Software Compilation. Git commit d93cb74cb99936ed1edd4a10f6d6b05fa6678c7c by Vishesh Handa. Committed on 11/03/2013 at 19:45. Pushed by vhanda into branch 'KDE/4.10'. Repository: Never set the parent to 0 Use a dummy model instead. Setting the parent to 0 can cause a crash when some other threads are using the model. [Bug 912060]
Confirmed. Crash virtuoso when some operations are going on in the storage service. The main repository's parent will be set as 0, and then reset to the new virtuoso model. In the middle the other threads can access it and they assert cause the parent of the model = 0. This can probably be fixed with a mutex. [Bug 25830]
I suggested a more general solution in bug 185618 comment 61 (about adding an option to render content in Firefox whenever "Save As" comes up immediately). I suggest using an error/info page for content of a type for which there is no handler or for content for which the handler fails, so anytime Save As comes up there is some content behind it. In the case of an unknown type, the error/info page would appear as a placeholder, which would prevent unknown types from cutting off user activity, and make room for a separate "Reinterpret Content" sheet with which the user could override the provided content-type to one which Firefox can render. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to the bug report. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/25830 Title: Option to display file in browser, treat as text/plain To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/firefox/+bug/25830/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Is there agreement among users as to what, exactly, the "right" behavior is? Does bugzilla include a polling mechanism to ask? It seems to me that the right behavior would be to have the browser respond to any keys it's configured to respond to, and pass any other keys to whatever page element has focus. [Bug 887042] Re: package nvidia-current 195.36.24-0ubuntu1~10.04.1 failed to install/upgrade: nvidia-current kernel module failed to build
ok-- 99% sure i tracked it down. the hardware drivers gui has no provision for the gcc version override option that the nvidia 285.05.09.pkg.run package offers. the official nvidia package installed from runlevel 3 wanted to use gcc 4.6, but i had gcc 4.4. the nvidia driver installation tool provides the option to continue and try to build the kernel module anyway, which i did, which worked perfectly. btw-with kernel 3.1.0, installed from kernel.org source, the nvidia 285.05.09.pkg.run doesn't throw the gcc error, it just compiles the module and works for me. so, this needs to be closed out, or marked solved, anyway, don't bother with this bug report. thanks. ** Changed in: nvidia-graphics-drivers (Ubuntu) Status: New => Fix Committed ** Tags added: 285.05.09 3.0.8 3.1.0 4.4 4.6 drivers gcc hardware i386 kernel linux-source module nvidia solved x86 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/887042 Title: package nvidia-current 195.36.24-0ubuntu1~10.04.1 failed to install/upgrade: nvidia-current kernel module failed to build To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/jockey/+bug/887042/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 174727] Re: gksu inherits current window's keyboard layout
This bug is still here; still confiusing people ... With maybe one helpful, and one defintely frustrating note. GKSU authentification window does not include keyboard layout switcher SCENARIO: = 1] Set a second keyboard layout (To make this easy to illustrate, pick an RTL language, eg. hebrew or arabic) 2] Select that keyboard layout using the gnome panel applet 3] Alt+f2 to bring up the "run application dialog" 4] Select your original keyboard layout and type gksu foo-bar (nautilus, gnome-terminal, synaptic, whatever) 5] Enter your password, and watch the masking characters appear RTL (wrong keyboard layout). There is no way to change the keyboard layout. The only option seems to be to select cancel, which bumps the user back TWO steps, not one, but then does allow the user to change keyboard layouts before invoking the 'run application dialog'. "TRYING TO HELPFUL" NOTE: = An identically-looking authentification screen appears when locking the terminal, or putting the machine in 'suspend' state, with the exception that in those cases, when multiple keyboard layouts have been selected, an indication of the current keyboard layout appears to the right of the password entry field. Clicking on that indication toggles the keyboard layout, and allows the password to be entered correctly. FRUSTRATION EXPRESSION NOTE: The scenario I presented was intentionally easy to figure out. The usual case will be of two LTR keyboards, and NO visual feedback of why the user's password entry is being rejected. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/174727 Title: gksu inherits current window's keyboard layout -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
