[Bug 1583009] Re: Error starting domain since update

I found now one difference:
On the working installation, I have "/etc/init.d/libvirt-bin", while this file
is "/etc/init.d/libvirtd" on the not working installation.

Below is a diff of the two files. The most important difference might be
the "Provides" line? The others are related to the name.

[Bug 1583009] Re: Error starting domain since update

2016-07-21 Thread mogliii
This is actually a bit strange as I have now two very similar computers
with similar setup, but this issue of virtlogd only appears on one of
them. Both have all updates installed.

If anyone can point me to relevant startupscripts/configuration files I
can post the content from both machines to help debugging this issue.

2012-07-09 Thread mogliii
I might be affected as well. I have a Toshiba NB550D. Kubuntu 12.04.

What I observe:
1) Charger plugged in, charging, showing "charging"
2) Take off the low voltage plug from the mobile computer directly -> correctly
detected
3) Plug back in -> correctly detected
4) Take off the mains plug (low voltage plug to computer stays connected) ->
does not detect
5) Take off the low voltage plug -> Still not detected

This is reproducible.

Added information shows "Linux 3.0.0-12-generic x86_64" as I booted into
older version using GRUB to try if the same happens. So the bug is, as
stated in the description, against 3.0.0-13.

Using 3.0.0-12 does not fix the problem. The working version must have
been overwritten on update as it is also from the 3.0.0-13 family.

[Bug 893477] [NEW] Regression: Wake up from suspend stopped working

2011-11-22 Thread mogliii
Public bug reported:

Toshiba NB550D netbook, AMD C-50 APU, SSD. Kubuntu 11.10

Yesterday evening I applied new patches, including new kernel version.
Before update, suspend to ram and wakeup worked ~20 times consecutively.

With new kernel version 3.0.0-13.22 wakeup does not work anymore. HD
activity LED does not blink at all when waking up.

The previous version (presumably 3.0.0-13.21) was the first version
since buying this netbook in July of this year which allowed reliable
wake-up from suspend to ram. Kernel versions before showed similar
symptoms (No disk activity on resume) as the one reported now.

So for my hardware the new version is a clear regression.

This change might have influence, as the netbook has combined

I upgraded my Kubuntu to 11.10, and the high resolution splash screen

Can I recommend that, before closing this report, we wait for one more

So to all subscribers: Report here after upgrade if it resolved or not.

[Bug 740011] Re: Natty: the driver sp5100_tco prevents PC startup

2011-08-01 Thread mogliii
The behavior I reported 1st May (high-res splash screen broken and message
displayed) appears to be connected to fglrx.
On a netbook with AMD C-50 APU (Radeon 6250) I can reversibly (already tested
three times) restore the high-res splash by disabling the fglrx driver.
My theory (correct me if I am wrong):
1) Video driver breaks high res splash screen
2) Messages that are shown do always occur, but are hidden with high-res splash.

I am using luks full system encryption so there is a password prompt
after grub. Without fglrx the input is very nice, but with fglrx the
splash is already broken and the prompt is console like. "TCO timer"
message appears after password input.

[Bug 814573] Re: kernel 2.6.38-10-generic-pae fails to 'suspend to RAM' on Lenove G560

2011-07-29 Thread mogliii
Hi,

I have a Toshiba NB550D running Kubuntu 11.04. With the latest kernel update
suspend stopped working (as described above).
I updated the kernel from proposed, but the same behavior remains. So "not
fixed".

By the way. How do I revert to non-proposed? Grub only offers one
kernel, 2.6.38-11...

[Bug 355801] Re: Printing (HP LJ) slow/fails

2010-08-24 Thread mogliii
Please go to System -> Administration -> Synaptic Package Manager

Look for libgutenprint2 and check the exact version. My 64bit has
5.2.5-0ubuntu1, my 32bit has 5.2.5-0ubuntu1.1.

So this is the update you most probably need. But it has not been
distributed yet. Thats why I asked before. But maybe between uploading
(what Till Kamppeter did) and fully distributed it takes a month??? I am
also waiting for the update to show up.

indeed, 'cha' converts to ちゃ. (good to know)

But still it is a bug since 'cya' should also work.

[Bug 603111] [NEW] Anthy: cannot input ち ょ (cya)

2010-07-08 Thread mogliii
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ibus

Ubuntu 10.04
dbus 1.2.16-2ubuntu4
anthy 9100h-0ubuntu2

What is expected:
Typing "cya" should convert to "ちゃ"

What happens:
After switching to japanese input method and typing "cya" this converts to "cや".

Additional information:
I have not been able to write ちゃ with ubuntu 10.04. This worked in Ubuntu 9.04
and is also the behavior in Windows (which I use to write the bug report, since
I can't write ちゃ on my linux).

[Bug 382379] Re: pdftops CUPS filter has several problems

2009-06-28 Thread mogliii
Hi,

my report here applies for Ubuntu Jaunty with HP Laserjet 4050 over JetDirect
(Network). I have the latest packages installed, as explained in this thread:
dpkg -l cups
cups 1.3.9-17ubuntu3.2Common UNIX Printing System(tm) -
server
dpkg -l poppler-utils
poppler-utils0.10.5-1ubuntu2.2PDF utilitites (based on libpoppler)

Following problems:
(1) When I print something, lets assume only text from openoffice, it gets
printed fine, but a message appears on the printer's display: "40 EIO 1 FEHLERH
UBERTRAGUNG" (I have german printer). I found Bug No 229981 that seems to be
similar.

(2) I printed the content of a website to .pdf
(http://www.tagesschau.de/schlusslicht/ubahnphilosophie100.html) using
the above mentioned versions of cups and poppler. The file is 900 kb
large. Printing it from Evince generates a 9 MB print job which takes
three minutes to print, but the font is being converted to bitmaps. So
it looks awful (see attached scan). This also happened with an EasyJet
travel itinerary. (no 40 EIO error)

(3) I printed the content of the website directly to the 4050 printer,
went much faster and the fonts are properly printed. (no 40 EIO error)

I still feel that the whole printing thing needs some tweaking. I can
not rely on my Ubuntu to print a scanned A4 page or a 80 page pdf
document. However I can with WinXP. I hope this will be fixed.

[Bug 355801] Re: Printing (HP LJ) slow/fails

2009-04-15 Thread mogliii
Additional test

This time a different computer (IBM T40 Notebook) with fresh 9.04 beta
installed. Tried to print a picture
(eg. http://www.allmoviewalls.com/pics/Harry_Potter_ATHBP_2009_02_1280x1024.jpg)
with EOG (Eye of Gnome) on HP LaserJet 4050 over Network.

After ~10 minutes the printing was aborted and a red light was blinking
on the printer.

Is any person in charge reading this?

[Bug 338680] Re: NetworkManager can't connect to wireless ap with wpa

2009-04-11 Thread mogliii
I have jaunty beta installed on a IBM T40 (Intel iw2100 wireless)

Kernel: 2.6.28-11-generic
all updates installed.

I can not connect to WPA hidden wireless network. After unhiding the

I have no chance of checking if this is related to the explicit router
or network adapter.

[Bug 355801] [NEW] Printing (HP LJ) slow/fails

2009-04-05 Thread mogliii
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 9.04 beta 32bit Live-CD (the same happens under fully patched ubuntu
8.10 64bit)
HP Laserjet 2200, connected via USB. The printer is functional (error does not
appear under Windows)

I want to print a .jpg picture or .pdf.

When I print a document or page with picture data (.jpg, .pdf from eye
of gnome, gimp, firefox ...) the print job is scheduled (symbol in
notification area, ~3000 kB data) and the LED on the printer starts
flashing.

Sometimes it keeps blinking for 10 Minutes, sometimes additional red LED
appears and printer has to be restarted. But nothing is printed. The
same .jpg File or .pdf on Windows, with same printer and computer takes
less than 10 seconds to start.

Additional Notes:
1) With older Ubuntu versions (8.04, maybe 8.10 when released, don't remember)
printing worked fine (as on windows)
2) No CPU or Memory load
3) This is !very! annoying. If you can't print out a scan or .pdf.

I am happy to provide debug information, but I am not sure where to look
for it.

[Bug 53206] wrong solution

2006-07-16 Thread mogliii
I just figured out, that after I restarted my machine, it was set back
to the default although xorg.conf was still set right.

I am not sure if there is a user based file.

But now I have the following solution:
$ setxkbmap -model jp106 -layout jp

and even after a restart the right assignment is still maintained. Maybe
somebody with better knowledge of xorg keyboard stuff can figure it out
exactly.
