[Bug 107322] about firewire develop in kernel...
Hello again Stefan, I understand your reasons of the earlier development of the new stack to enable it now. I posted the "bug" because I saw how usb disks was hotly recognized by ubuntu and my firewire disk only at boot. When I saw the new firewire feature of kernel 2.6.23-rcX I decided to probe it and the disk was recognized plugging it after booting (dmesg). For me was an advantage and thought I have to publish it. My problem now is I have to mount it manually and I don't see its icon on my desktop. I will wait for 2.6.24. Thanks, Alberto. :) __ LLama Gratis a cualquier PC del Mundo. [Bug 107322] [SOLVED] Re: firewire hard disk only detected at boot process
Hello again, This problem is solved compiling latest kernel from kernel.org (2.6.23rc2 today) and enabling in its configuration the new experimental firewire stack under "drivers"--> "firewire 1394". This kernel gives you the chance to choose between this stack and the old, you can't enable both. The new module is called "firewire_core", and is necesary to enable also the new spb2 and the other (i don't remember now its name...). In the latest Ubuntu kernel (2.6.22-9) this option is not enabled, please update it for next kernel!. If you use a configuration file (.config) the option is "CONFIG_FIREWIRE=y". I have noticed the same problem in beagle 0.2.16.3 running on ubuntu feisty, beagle-helper process loaded a lot of ram. But now I have found the solution: First, is necessary to enable extended atributes for your file systems (as beagle wiki says), to do that we add "user_xattr" in the options column of our /etc/fstab and then remount file systems or reboot computer... After that, and maybe the "key" of my problem (and hope yours too!) is to exclude the TEMP directory of ed2k files (amule, mldonkey, etc.) in beagle indexing preferences. Then cpu charge is normal. [Bug 32194] Startup programs are not saved...
Hello, I have found the same issue in Feisty. Besides that, I can't add new entries in startup programs, they are not saved. The solution I have found is to edit manually /home/"your_user"/.gnome2/session or session~ like this: At the end of this file there are entries that start by a number and look like this "12,RestartCommand=beryl-manager"... if we would like to add for example, glipper as startup program after beryl load, then we would select its position with the correspondent number + "," + "RestartCommand=full path" (13,RestartCommand=/usr/bin/glipper), if there is some doubt I attach you my /home/myuser/.gnome2/session and you can see how the programs I want load in the order that I want... At the end of session file there is a line called "num_clients=" after equal sign it is necessary to put the last number plus 1 (in the attached file 16). Don't forget to save this file as /home/"your_user"/.gnome2/session, if everything goes well you will see the programs you want in the order you want after rebooting the machine...
[Bug 69752] Re: beagled-helper and beagle run away with CPU and memory (SOLVED)
Hello Joe, Yes, you are right.
Thanks, Alberto. :) -- firewire hard disk only detected at boot process https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/107322 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 69752] Re: beagled-helper and beagle run away with CPU and memory (SOLVED)
Hello Joe, Yes, you are right. This kind of files belong to temp directory of edonkey p2p network programs (emule, amule, mldonkey...), they are usually big temporary files of movies that you are downloading... and beagled indexer daemon can't handle easily (I think...) [Bug 32194] Startup programs are not saved...
