[Bug 865091] Re: Saving configuration (Preferences -> export) freezes compiz

2012-12-07 Thread nirk
Does not freeze upon opening the export page, but upon choosing 'save'
and choosing 'yes' or 'no' to the question if you'd like to store the
whole profile or only your diff. (I don't know if that was the original
bug post reason.) (But the bug this is marked as a dupe of doesn't seem
to mention this.)

[Bug 924648] [NEW] mouse preferences sensitivity: max is too low

2012-01-31 Thread nirk
Public bug reported:

The maximum setting aka right-most position of the mouse sensitivity
slider in the Mouse Preferences control panel is too low.

Some users (like me) might have two screens and wish to be able to move
their pointer a long way relative to the amount they have to move their
mouse pointing device. There should be no reason why the maximum setting
cannot be somewhat higher. Alternatively, this could be implemented as a
checkbox -- a la 20 dB boost in sound mixing apps -- which could "shift"
or "remap" the current slider values to somewhere higher.

** Affects: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 137514] Re: sshfs locks up randomly

2008-02-15 Thread nirk
What I forgot to say is:
I'm running the same distro and on a laptop, as the initial poster.
I think this problem is of rather high importance, because this functionality
is assumed stable by most people and it can thus probably causes a lot of
problems and maybe undiscovered damage to files etc.

[Bug 137514] Re: sshfs locks up randomly

2008-02-15 Thread nirk
I've got the exact same problem as the one originally described,

and I'm convinced it's got nothing to do with the connection stability (i.e.
wireless).
The cable's been in all time, and now every shell or program that tries to
access the mount freezes and doesn't come back.
Killing the sshfs-process with the signal SIGKILL (9) evidently "fixes" the
problem. You can't umount the mount unless you do this first.

And I've got no clue on how to approach this problem, even though I'm
rather experienced with computers.

[Bug 150728] [gutsy] installed kernel doesn't boot on this cpu

2007-10-08 Thread nirk
Public bug reported:

I install this:
ubuntu-7.10-beta-server-i386.iso
on this:
VIA EPIA-EK1G, Luke/1000Mhz, Mini-IT DDR-400, SATA, VGA, Lyd, 2xLAN, USB2.0
and on boot after install, it says something like
KERNEL PANIC: cpu too old for this kernel
I believe I didn't do any awkward choices during the setup.

Shouldn't the correct kernel be installed automatically?
I really hope it's the correct iso image.

Thanks for the attention and the OS.
