2008-04-01 Thread nosrednaekim
Could you try to recreate this again, but with running desktop-effects-kde4
from the command line?
When you disable desktop effects, see if "hi" gets printed to the command
line(you do have to hit apply in order for this the disabling take effect)

FYI, I cannot reproduce this bug.

[Bug 206459] Re: print status doesn't update automatically

2008-03-26 Thread nosrednaekim
I see, it seems that the program does not update itself when there are
what it sees as active jobs,it relies on dbus to tell awake it when the
job is finished. If Dbus never awakes it, it will never refresh
anything! The function to refresh the times also relies on the actual
existence of a job I believe (not to familiar with that section of
code). Try this alternate version of the program which should refresh
every second while there is still a job listed in the applet. You can
copy it to the correct location with the following command "sudo cp
printer-applet.py /usr/bin/system-config-printer-applet-kde" and you may
need to "sudo chmod +x /usr/bin/system-config-printer-applet-kde"

If this crashes/messes up your system, either restore the old file from
a backup or simply reinstall the system-config-printer package.

[Bug 201879] Re: [desktop-effects-kde4] permissions issue

2008-03-14 Thread nosrednaekim
The first solution is the way it should work,

did you ever run desktop-effects-kde4(or another compiz configuration)
program as root? If so, that is probably why you cannot write to that
file as your normal user (since it now had root privileges)

you can fix this by running "sudo rm
/home/deda/.config/compiz/compizconfig/Default.ini" and rerunning
desktop-effects-kde4. Do not run any compiz configurator as root (since
most also write to this same file, and there is no need to)

It is directly tied to the operation of the wireless switch (at least on my

In order to fix it, you have to boot a liveCD (gutsy amd64 did it for me) which

2007-10-13 Thread nosrednaekim
Ok,so I booted into windows to check to make sure the hardware was
working; it was.

then I booted my gutsy alpha CD (on which the wireless was working). It was
working there was well
I noticed however, that it was using a slightly older version of madwifi: .9.3
instead of .9.3.2 on the
release candidate.

I then booted back into my installed system... and lo- and behold, wireless was
working.
It has been a bit finicky since though, but I think its a Network manager
problem. I don't know
what the problem could be, maybe bad firmware?

[Bug 151600] madwifi no longer working in kernel 2.6.22-12 and 2.6.22-14

2007-10-11 Thread nosrednaekim
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-restricted-modules-2.6-amd64-generic

Running Gutsy AMD64 on a Acer 5050, and the Atheros card is no longer
recognized by the latest kernels.
kernel 2.6.22-7(alpha 5) worked fine. The latest kernel, 2.6.22-14 does not
work with it however.

the appropriate section of lshw is:
   *-network:1 UNCLAIMED
description: Ethernet controller
product: AR2413 802.11bg NIC
vendor: Atheros Communications, Inc.
physical id: 4
bus info: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:08:04.0
version: 01
width: 32 bits
clock: 33MHz
capabilities: pm cap_list
configuration: latency=168 maxlatency=28 mingnt=10

lsmod | grep ath shows:

ath_pci 105392 0
wlan 225736 1 ath_pci
ath_hal 219888 1 ath_pci

dmesg | grep ath shows:

[ 33.639398] ath_hal: module license 'Proprietary' taints kernel.
[ 33.640324] ath_hal: 0.9.18.0 (AR5210, AR5211, AR5212, RF5111, RF5112,
RF2413, RF5413)
[ 34.104594] ath_pci: 0.9.4.5 (0.9.3.2)

I see here there it is not a officially supported device, however, it
WAS working.

iw/ifconfig shows only the ethernet device

If you need any more info, ask :) Thanks!

[Bug 133294] Re: [gutsy] Kubuntu's splash image displays badly

2007-08-18 Thread nosrednaekim
This is a bug for non-widescreen monitors as well, tested with a
1280x1024 and 1024x768 resolution with an ATI graphics card. The image
is displayed slightly lower and to the right of the center.

Seems like you have other problems as your frequency is not reporting
correctly. Do the "processor 1(2)" bars ever move?

[Bug 108121] Re: [apport] guidance-power-manager.py crashed with ImportError in () dcopext

2007-06-22 Thread nosrednaekim
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 92977 ***

Have you tried reinstalling kde-guidance?

Try running "python" and then running "import dcopext"
in the python interpreter and give the output.

[Bug 120250] Make dowload list available in Adept

2007-06-13 Thread nosrednaekim
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: adept

I (and alot of dial-up users I'm sure) would like the ability to make a wget
script of all packages they wish to install.
This script can then be emailed to a person who has higher bandwidth to get the
packages.

This would also be useful for a machine which does not have an internet
connection, in which case the download script and the resulting packages
can be transported on USB stick..

The Ubuntu package manager, Synaptic, has this functionality.

[Bug 82277] Re: [Feisty] guidance-power-manager doesn't work for UPS on a desktop system

2007-06-05 Thread nosrednaekim
I think we should get rid of the laptop check, and just leave it so that
if any battery is detected, guidance starts.

And also have a "Do not start Power manager on start up"

Is it possible to leave "true" on by default, or maybe make it a
command line option? like "guidance-power-manager --force"?
