[Bug 800457] Re: Ethernet card in the Acer ICONIA TAB W500 is not recognized

This device is from ASIX, concretely AX88772B chip, see
http://www.asix.com.tw/products.php?op=pItemdetailPItemID=105;71;101PLine=71
There is also the Linux driver available for download (in source code form)
which is licensed by GPL2+. I can confirm its functionality under Natty (i386)
in this tablet device dock - it would be great to see it backported into Natty
kernel.

[Bug 803799] [NEW] Network Manager Applet shows (in list of VPN connections) that is still connected, after connection release.

2011-06-30 Thread Pavel Krejsa
Public bug reported:

I connect to VPN from network manager applet (click on VPN connections
and choose VPN to connect to) and do some work. After a while i
disconnect from VPN via clicking on Disconnect and connection is
released (it is not active anymore, i am not able to ping any of remote
servers), small lock icon over the network manager applet's icon
disappeared, but connection is still alive in VPN connection list. I am
not able to choose another VPN untill i kill nm-applet and run it again.
I have this problem on two independent ubuntu 11.04 installations (one
on my work notebook, and one on my virtual machine). This is very
annoying. Here are list of related SW versions:

ii network-manager
0.8.4~git.20110319t175609.d14809b-0ubuntu3 network management framework daemon
ii network-manager-gnome

frontend)

(OpenVPN plugin, GNOME UI)
ii network-manager-pptp

plugin)
ii network-manager-pptp-gnome
0.8.1+git.20110207t142407.7e1d989-0ubuntu1 network management framework (PPTP
plugin, GNOME UI)
ii network-manager-vpnc
0.8.1+git.20110207t151002.6a2b2d6-0ubuntu2 network management framework (VPNC
plugin)
ii network-manager-vpnc-gnome
0.8.1+git.20110207t151002.6a2b2d6-0ubuntu2 network management framework (VPNC

i did not find anything usefull in /var/log/syslog. network manager
reports just VPN info about established and released connections.

Sorry, I don't have a complete syslog, it is the only saved part from
live-cd install. However, I believe it should contain everything related
to the issue: I've cleared the log before running the install step that

[Bug 802070] [NEW] 11.04: partman crashes during install on RaisorFS with non-emply journal

2011-06-25 Thread ַPavel Antokolsky aka Zigmar
Public bug reported:

During installation of 11.04, over old system I had, the isntall failed every
time with user-visible error ubi-partman failed with exit code 141 before
showing partitioning options. The last line in the syslog is:
IOError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/var/lib/partman/outfifo'

Syslog also complained before the crash about being unable to mount RaserFS
partition due non-empty journal. The syslog contained entries similar to:
  ubuntu kernel: [ 2868.927014] REISERFS warning (device sda6): clm-2076
journal_read_transaction: device is readonly, unable to replay log
  ubuntu kernel: [ 2868.927022] REISERFS warning (device sda6): reiserfs-2006
journal_init: Replay Failure, unable to mount
  ubuntu kernel: [ 2868.927117] REISERFS warning (device sda6): sh-2022
reiserfs_fill_super: unable to initialize journal space
ubuntu ubiquity: mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on
/dev/sda6,

Eventually, I've found a workaround (which also proved connection):
manually mounting than unmount each of the problematic volumes (straight
from the installer) immediately fixed the problem, and re-run of the
failed state succeeded.

Attached parts of syslog and parted log related to the crash

2011-06-22 Thread ַPavel Antokolsky aka Zigmar
I have the same problem while trying to install 11.04 on my desktop (the
partitions are already there, from old Ubuntu 8 installation). During the first
step of the install, after clicking forward on screen with disk size and web
connection confirmation, I get an error ubi-partman failed with exit code

IOError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/var/lib/partman/outfifo'

I've attached syslog and partman for the entire duration of the step

Re: [Bug 414161] gnome-volume-control crashed with SIGSEGV in gtk_tree_model_get_valist()

2011-05-19 Thread Pavel Kukacka
Hello,

I'm running the LTS version and this is no longer a problem for me. I
don't plan to upgrade to Natty, so I'm not gonna be able to supply you
with any such test results;
I've only tried switching profile on the hardware tab today on my Ubuntu
10.04 and it was without problems.

Cheers,
Pavel

Re: [Bug 764654] Re: hpcups assert failure: *** glibc detected *** hp-LaserJet-1010: free(): invalid next size (normal): 0x082a6b88 ***

2011-04-27 Thread Pavel Hahin
Hello,

Thanks for help.
I did everything I could.

2011/4/26 Suma Byrappa 764...@bugs.launchpad.net

 Hello,

Thanks for providing so much of information.

I looked at the source corresponding to the address of hpcups function
call in the stack trace. The source code around the call looks good,
particularly with heap management functions. Neither I see multiple
versions of libc loaded. So, could you please provide me the following
 information for further analysis.

 1. The log file /var/log/syslog. You can follow the below steps to get the
 log file.
 (a) Open the file /etc/cups/cupsd.conf
   1. Set LogLevel to debug and hpLogLevel to 15
   2. Save the changes in the file.
 (b) Run the command : sudo /etc/init.d/cups restart
If it doesn’t work, please use : su –c “/etc/init.d/cups restart”
 (c) Run your test case
 (d) Find the file /var/log/syslog and send it to us.
 2. strace log for hpcups process

Also, you may want to try installing HPLIP from
 http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/index.html once.

 Regards,
 Suma

the bug affects mobility as well as desktop cards using the r300g glx driver.

The HD 4670 uses the r600g driver and does not exhibit the bug.
Both drivers use gallium, so the bug must be in the r300g driver code.

Pavel,

I'd really like to get to the bottom of this. Do you still have the
/var/log/installer directory from that last install attempt? If so, can
you attach the files from there? Just click 'Add attachment or patch'
below.

Otherwise, are you able to reproduce this using the latest daily-live CD
(http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current )? If you can, when the
install crashes, open a terminal and run `sudo apport-collect 748315`.

Thanks a bunch!

ClippingRectangle to (0,0,1400,1050) (FullScreen) this particular bug goes away.
This does not help when I enable DrawContent again though..

[Bug 726033] Re: does not display icons until hovered

2011-04-09 Thread Pavel Rojtberg
the bug is actually in Nux. If I comment out

m_CompositionLayout-ProcessDraw (GfxContext, force_draw);

in nux::ScrollView::DrawContent, there are no corruptions of the places
window. The scrollbars appear and everything works. (well besides the
content not being drawn, but thats obvious)

I guess glScissoring is somehow broken here, as stuff gets sometimes
drawn outside of the ClippingRectangle. But it is beyond me how to
globally disable scissoring in Nux...

[Bug 726033] Re: does not display icons until hovered

2011-04-01 Thread Pavel Rojtberg
unfortunately the bug is still not fixed for me. The symptoms are still the
same.
I took a look at the linked branch, specifically at commit 1046 and as far as I
can tell, it just tries to fix the initial display of the icons.

But the issue I am experiencing is when the display pane becomes
scrollable, so I would rather suspect the bug in the validating/
invalidating code of scrolling.

I might have some time to look at it myself next week - is there some
IRC channel or something where you guys are reachable?

2011-03-23 Thread Pavel Rojtberg
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 691953 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/691953

actually a calendar daemon is not needed to display the calendar widget.
There is just a stupid check in the code whether evolution is installed,
preventing the calendar to be displayed.

So a quick workaround is doing

sudo touch /usr/bin/evolution

remember to remove that empty file once there is a proper fix.

[Bug 726033] Re: does not display icons until hovered

2011-02-28 Thread Pavel Rojtberg
jup the problem happens every time. also if it helps: if I scroll down to about
the end of the applications list all icons appear and dissappear again about at
the time the bottom-most icon is not visible any more. At this breakdown-point
the bottom most icon is also drawn over the area below the scroll-bar, which is
not drawn on otherwise.
I would guess the error is somewhere in the scrolling-redraw code

[Bug 706452] [NEW] Update from local files won't work with files in UPPER case

2011-01-22 Thread Ing. Pavel Milanes Costa
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gpredict

When updating the TLE offline (aka from local files) the software won't
see any file with UPPER CASE letters.

Try it...

Download a TLE update (say from: http://www.tle.info/data/TLE.ZIP) an
unzip it in a empty folder (the resultant file is named TLE.TXT) try to
update from this folder...

Result: the gpredict software has no update, as if the folder was empy,
so it won't see files in upper case, next try to rename the file with
lower case an push an local update, this time the update is ok.

This is not a major bug but a detail.
