[Bug 1915893] [NEW] Surface Book 2 - wifi adapter disappears after a couple of days

2021-02-16 Thread Praveen B
Public bug reported:

I was evaluating the newly released Xubuntu 20.04.2 LTS by creating a
LiveUSB from the ISO.

All I did was to connect to wifi and browse internet using Firefox.
After two days of occasional usage, I found that wifi adapter has
disappeared from NetworkManager (and output of iwconfig as well).

Attached the relevant portions of dmesg output.

Output of 'lsb_release -rd':

[Bug 1872074] Re: unable to load VPN connection editor

2020-12-14 Thread Praveen Rokade
I had same issue on my Ubuntu 20.04.1
"Unable to load VPN connection editor"

"network-manager-l2tp-gnome" was already installed.

Further I've installed "network-manager-l2tp-gnome", which resolved my issue.
sudo apt-get install network-manager-l2tp-gnome

[Bug 1855165] [NEW] gvfsd-dav crashed with SIGSEGV

2019-12-04 Thread Praveen B
Public bug reported:

Setup
Lubuntu 19.10

Steps to Reproduce
* Using the file manager, pcmanfm-qt, perform a secure webdav mount using 'Go'
-> 'Connect to server' option
* After mounting the remote dav folder, attempt to perform a copy of a large
file (> 500M) from local machine to remote folder

Expected behavior
File copy should succeed

Observed behavior
file manager crashes and the mount is no longer present

Additional Information
When I attempted to gather more information by attaching gdb to the gfvsd-dav
process, I was unable to reproduce the problem. Without gdb, problem readily
reproduces at my end.

[Bug 1499746] Re: Early Syslinux Boot Error in pendrive made with the Ubuntu Startup Disk Creator

2015-09-28 Thread Praveen B
If you are using Ubuntu 15.10 Beta 2 (Wily), then the workaround is to
manually download syslinux_6.03+dfsg-5ubuntu1 debian package from Vivid
repository, extract syslinux binary and use it instead.

syslinux doesn't have other dependencies and other files used when
creating a bootable usb (viz.mbr.bin) are identical between Vivid and
Wily.

The error is primarily due to ldlinux.sys (which gets generated from
syslinux). ldlinux.sys generated from Vivid syslinux doesn't have the
issue.

2014-07-25 Thread Praveen Arimbrathodiyil
Steve, that is very helpful way of replying. Now I don't care if it
lands in Ubuntu or not. As long as it works on Debian I will be happy.
Why did I even took the effort to test it on a Virtual Machine running
Ubuntu 14.04!

2014-07-25 Thread Praveen Arimbrathodiyil
It is blocking ITP because I wanted it to run well on Ubuntu and Debian,
but not anymore. It is a bug in invoke-rc.d on Ubuntu, because the same
command works fine in debian using systemd. If your software is perfect,
sorry for opening this bug. I won't touch this again.

[Bug 1348757] [NEW] invoke-rc.d gets stuck when trying to start gnukhata-core-engine during post install

2014-07-25 Thread Praveen Arimbrathodiyil
Public bug reported:

I'm packaging gnukhata (http://gnukhata.org) for debian and ubuntu but I
cannot start the gnukhata-core-engine service during installation on
ubuntu. It works fine on debian sid (using systemd). I tried both
invoke-rc.d gnukhata-core-engine start as well as service gnukhata-core-
engine start. It just go defunct after it actually starts the service. I
have tested on Ubuntu 12.04 and 14.04 releases.

You can test it using the packages from
http://people.debian.org/~praveen/gnukhata/README (currently postinst
doesn not start the service, you can edit debian/gnukhata-core-
engine.postinst to start the service and test)

[Bug 1278723] [NEW] not able to upgrade to ubuntu version 13.10

2014-02-10 Thread VENOLIN PRAVEEN SANTHANARAJ
Public bug reported:

While scanning your repository information no mirror entry for the
upgrade was found. This can happen if you run an internal mirror or if
the mirror information is out of date.

Do you want to rewrite your 'sources.list' file anyway? If you choose 'Yes'
here it will update all 'raring' to 'saucy' entries.
If you select 'No' the upgrade will cancel.

[Bug 1215745] [NEW] Widget overlaps on other icons in system tray

2013-08-22 Thread Praveen Thivari
Public bug reported:

I have enabled 'YAWP' from system tray settings in Kubuntu 13.04 (
backports of KDE 4.11 PPA added). I notice that 'YAWP' icon overlaps
other icons of system tray. I have noticed this even in last Kubuntu
release so its not version specific. As a additional note, enabling
'YAWP' as plasmoid in the bottom panel outside 'System Tray' Are appears
without any overlap.

I have attached a screenshot pointing to the problem.

The same problem was faced with a couple of others also. So, it's not
specific to the s/w and h/w configuration I have and seems to be common
problem in 12.04. That was the reason why I filed it as a bug.

[Bug 1034402] [NEW] SSID not visible when creating HotSpot in 12.04

2012-08-08 Thread Praveen
Public bug reported:

I have Ubuntu 12.O4 on a HP 430 notebook and this has a single wired
internet connection and I would like to share this with a LG Optimus One
with Android 2.3.3. I followed these instructions [1] and created a
hotspot as shown below, but UbuntuHost is not visible on the LG Optimus
One when I enable the Wifi on it.

To summarize, I want my Laptop with an internet connection to act as a
WiFi router and access the internet from other devices (LG Optimus One
with Android in this case).

This problem is being faced by others also [2].

2012-06-07 Thread Praveen Thivari
I have upgraded to new firefox 13. And didn't notice it yet may be bcoz
smmoth scrolling is enabled!!!

But the interesting thing I noticed is that this also happens on chmsee.
While reading a book, if I scroll down the area on moitor showed sort of
graphical glich where the old text in that position and new text sort of
divide among themselves.

I dont have a screenshot next time this happens I'll post the
screenshot.

2012-06-05 Thread Praveen Thivari
** Description changed:

Firefox doesn't scroll the page properly.

I may not be able to explain the problem exactly. But here is what
  happens :

  1) Open certain website. For Eg: ubuntuforums.org

  2) Try scroll the page down.

- 3) On screen it looks like it is not scrolled but in fact it would have
scrolled down.
- This is confirmed after sometime when the page come out that freeze and
begins to show the new position of page.
- Also it can be confirmed by trying to copy a line or opening a link.
The link will not be opened because the link would have scrolled to new
position and after the window comes out of the 'GRAPHIC FREEZE' you can click
on the link from it new posiiton.
+ 3) On screen it looks like it is not scrolled but in fact it would have
scrolled down. Ie It appears like GRAPHIC FREEZE. I say it as graphic freeze
because I can use the window, for that matter refresh the page etc.

It has a squared borders and opacity is 100% black. This is in contrast

[Bug 993130] [NEW] kchmviewer doesn't show the content

2012-05-02 Thread Praveen Thivari
Public bug reported:

The latest release of kchmviewer is version 6 and kubuntu has 5.3.1.

The problem with the default pack is that it doesn't load chm contents
properly. See the picture.

I request you to update it to latest version so that I can use bug free
version.

Note: It's not seen with all chm files but a few which fail to show any
content, where as chm viewer has no problem with any of that content.

[Bug 883990] Re: Dash: Lenses are slower in selcting an icon in dash

2012-01-19 Thread Praveen Thivari
Am using Ubuntu 11.10.
NVIDIA Geforce 7 series. I think have pretty good graphic card for running any
modern OS.
2 GB Ram.

What I mean is that when u open dash to search or select some app, sometimes I
tend to hover over a few icons and then select the right one. While I do that a
white rectangle is shown on the icon on which i point my cursor(i.e Trying to
highlight my selection). So when I move the cursor to next icon I find a
visible lag between me already having moved on to that icon and a few
miliseconds later the white rectangle follows it.. I find this lag to be
annoying.
Unity 2D doesnt have that kind of lag.

To give u a anlogy of it. Think of a high end graphic game running on low spec
pc where u find lag between ur movement of mouse and cursor getting to the
desired place.
Something similar happens here but its not cursor that lags here but the white
rectangle (showing highlighted icon).

[Bug 882274] Re: Community engagement is broken

2011-11-05 Thread Praveen Thivari
I wouldn't mind if they want to the keep the launcher on left forever.
How many of us really change any default layout. KDE keeps the taskbar
at bottom and I dont change that. Win 7 has it's default at bottom, How
many them change. NOT MANY RIGHT?

Only thing as a user I ask Unity developers is to make it just work wherever it
is.
For Eg:
1) More responsive.
2) Less resource hungry. ( It works for me on 2GB Ram but not on low graphics).

My thoughts on launchbar actions:
It's more consistent behavior if the icon I pressed minimizes the app back.
Because as earlier pointed out even application indicators like indicator-menu,
message indicators all use same behavior. Task bar's of these have similar
behavior : Gnome 2 , KDE, Win 7.
The problem is we as user of all these DE have this in our mind about how a
dock should work. On the other hand, Mark thinks in the other way about a
launcher. with all due respect I ask Mark why should it be called a launcher
(which makes you think that it's for just launching an app), call it a dock
where many features could be added on.

[Bug 783498] Re: add per-window ("window-centric") window management to Unity (launcher and/or compiz)

2011-10-30 Thread Praveen Thivari
I agree with bug reporter at present there is no good way to manage any
open window.

It takes xtra steps to close one window when multiple windows are open.

Consider this:
1) I have 3 nautilus windows open.
2) I need to close one of the windows.
3) I click on nautilus icon in launher.
4) A spead view of three windows is shown.

Now from here at least I should be able to close whichever window I like
with one click. But wait Unity makes me take another step.

5) select the window which u need to close
6) Go all the way upto top left corner to close that window.

It makes me move cursor all around the screen to get one simple work
done.

I dont think there should be any problem on adding a feature which
enhances usablility of unity overall. A community based solution may
look like a hack with many (?) regressions so it's good if it's baked
into a product.

2011-08-22 Thread Praveen Kumar
Found the same graphics issue with launcher and the main application panel
(top).
Sometimes launcher items' tool tip hovers the main application panel and leaves
it rendered incompletely.

This info may help in resolving the graphics issues on Intel 8xx boards
from all view points.

2011-08-16 Thread Praveen
@Karesh

Thanks for your analysis and comment. Hope this gets corrected before final
release of 11.10
Even I feel that the current build is running slow though I've good enough RAM.
Anyways launchpad team may have a look and fix performance issues also.

[Bug 823136] Re: Oneiric Ocelot, Alpha 3 - Still the display graphics on Intel i865GvHZ is not appealing (sometimes I see incomplete windows).

2011-08-13 Thread Praveen
Just found a scenario where the above behavior could be easily replicated. Lets
say we have 2 folders opened (1. external drive 2. home folder).
Now we minimize one of the folder and click on the home icon in the launcher.
This would bring up the workspace view where we have an option to select a
window from current workspace or from other workspaces. If we click on the
minimized window (which would be shown as a white window with home icon in
center) to bring it front, it would not be loaded completely. One needs to drag
the window to get this graphics issue corrected.

Thanks,
Praveen
