[Bug 1856708] Re: Clipboard usability issues
Same issue can be reproduced on Visual Foxpro 6. Copy paste worked fine in Ubuntu 18.04 but after upgrade to 20.04, copy/cut paste has become unusable. every time you have to copy twice to get it work. Although when u do copy/cut paste for the first time after opening application it works fine. Also copy paste from native applications to wine works fine all the time. [Bug 1789343] Re: mysqldump in MySQL 5.7 running on Ubuntu 18.04 does not release memory
@yaser I don't know if this will help. From what I found in my case, the issue seems to be caused due to INNODB Buffer pool settings. I have to make sure by adding these 3 innodb variables in my mysql conf and its value by following formula: innodb_buffer_pool_size = innodb_buffer_pool_chunk_size x innodb_buffer_pool_instances Example: innodb_buffer_pool_size = 20G innodb_buffer_pool_chunk_size = 1G innodb_buffer_pool_instances = 20 Unless it is required, there is no need to add custom settings in mysql conf. You can also avoid the memory leak issue if you use default mysql conf. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1789343 Title: mysqldump in MySQL 5.7 running on Ubuntu 18.04 does not release memory To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mysql-5.7/+bug/1789343/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 363695] Re: update-apt-xapian-index uses too much CPU and memory
This bug was reported way back in 2009 . Today it's 1st June 2020 and this bug is still here kubuntu 18.04 . This background process fires up a few seconds after i turn on my laptop and continues to consume 100% of both the cores and after a minute or so when it stops . Python3 would then start consuming the CPU power , I suspect this again is something related to APT . [Bug 1869979] [NEW] liborc-0.4.so doesn't exist after install
Public bug reported: If you apt install liborc-0.4-0, there is no liborc-0.4.so file in /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/ There IS a liborc-0.4.so.0 file that is a link to iborc-0.4.so.0.28.0, but there is no link with name liborc-0.4.so pointing to that same file. I don't know if this is a bug or expected behavior, but it does trigger issues with other packages, such as out-of-tree modules for GNURadio: https://github.com/bastibl/gr-foo/issues/24#issuecomment-606925453 Those can be fixed with a simple symlink. If this is a problem with the build system of the other project (i.e., it should have picked up the so.0 file), my apologies and please close the issue. Thanks. System details: Description: Ubuntu 18.04.4 LTS Release: 18.04 Version: liborc-0.4-0 Installed: 1:0.4.28-1 Summary: I expect there to be a .so file by the name of the library somewhere on the system after installing. Re: [Bug 1839693] Re: p54usb module in linux-modules-extra-5.0.0-23-generic does not work
Hi there, I hope all is well. I wanted to let you know that something odd keeps happening now with the updated packages you sent me. After about one week of use, the USB card stopped working. I thought maybe I had run some software update and overwrite your files. So, I ran the command you gave me ("sudo dpkg -i *.deb") and restored the packages you sent. After another week, the same thing happened again - this time I am positive that I did not run any software updates and yet the USB card once again stopped working. I again ranĀ "sudo dpkg -i *.deb" and restored your files and rebooted. It started working same as normal. So, I decided to write to you and let you know this. I have no idea why it's happening, but two times cannot be a fluke. [Bug 1789343] [NEW] mysqldump in MySQL 5.7 running on Ubuntu 18.04 does not release memory
Public bug reported: I have been using MySQL 5.7.23 in Ubuntu 18.04 installed from offical repo. It is working fine fine until we tried to take a dump of the databases. The mysql server contains around 500 small databases which I used to take individual DB dumps using for loop and mysqldump command in bash script. The script works fine with MySQL 5.7 installed in Ubuntu 14.04. However, when we start the dump in Ubuntu 18.04, it starts swapping aggressively and does not release the memory even after individual database dump is completed. After sometime, memory and swap becomes almost full, then also CPU starts increasing due to too much swapping. This caused the server to freeze due to high cpu or mysql server to crash due to OOM. Note: I will keep adding more info as I get it. How to repeat: Setup MySQL 5.7 in Ubuntu 18.04 on AWS T2.Small. Create about 400-500 small databases Try to take backup of all databases using mysqldump command ** Affects: mysql-5.7 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Description changed: I have been using MySQL 5.7.23 in Ubuntu 18.04 installed from offical repo. [Bug 1726930] Re: System fails to start (boot) on battery due to read-only root file-system
That's because what I instructed in #15 makes laptop-mode-tools ineffective to USB hotplug events. Not something that a user would want. As I see from the reports, this is what I think is happening. 1) Users have some combination of usb devices, getting hotplugged upon discovery. 2) Step 1 results in early invocation of LMT. 3) Which further results in file systems getting ro mounted. This step is still erratic and I have no clue what the calling parent is, to this ro mount. For users who've confirmed that #15 in the workaround works. Can you please apply the workaround, successfully boot, then change back the changes to its original, and then hotplug a USB device ? This will trigger the same chain of events, just that they'll be triggered upon full boot. Which should give us some insight into what may actually be behaving erratic. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1726930 Title: System fails to start (boot) on battery due to read-only root file- system To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/laptop-mode-tools/+bug/1726930/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1726930] Re: System fails to start (boot) on battery due to read-only root file-system
This would still be a flaky device or a kernel bug. Because the mentioned laptop-mode-tools version (1.71) brought in forced execution mode, so that it could apply proper power saving values. That's pretty much it. That does not result in read only rootfs because if it logically did, it'd be seen on every machine. [Bug 1734539] [NEW] package linux-headers-4.13.0-17 (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: unable to sync file '/var/lib/dpkg/tmp.ci//md5sums': Input/output error
Public bug reported: I am using ubuntu 17.10 and new to ubuntu and linux. I used this command "apt-cache policy pkgname" and the result is "unable to locate package pkgname". I use a package called brightness controller because my monitor is Samsung Syncmaster SA10 and it doesn't have any buttons to control brightness. Now, that package is not reducing the brightness. Sometimes, when i open firefox, screen displays 60deg pink and white lines and hangs and then, i'll restrat my pc by pressing the restart button on CPU. This bug reporting screen is automatically opened, when i was updating the package via package manager. Hi, Thanks for reply. I've few questions regarding this. Why an updated package is not included in ISO, so that user can install it without internet connectivity. And even though I tried with stable internet connection, and I opted for additional files which were downloaded and installed successfully, only this grub package was failing to install. [Bug 1574886] Re: All gtk applications Segfault if no GLX context is active
For future users, I installed libepoxy0 (1.3.1-1ubuntu1) from zesty manually by downloading the right deb for my architecture (https://packages.ubuntu.com/zesty/libs/libepoxy0), and then installing with "dpkg -i". It seems that the newer package in zesty has a fix for the underlying bug. It appears to work fine now, no more segfaults when launching synaptic (or other GTK3 applications) over X-forwarding! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1574886 Title: All gtk applications Segfault if no GLX context is active To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libepoxy/+bug/1574886/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1676980] Re: libGLX_indirect.so.0 not indexed by ldconfig
For what it's worth, I installed libepoxy0 (1.3.1-1ubuntu1) from zesty manually by downloading the right deb for my architecture (https://packages.ubuntu.com/zesty/libs/libepoxy0), and then installing with "dpkg -i". It seems that the newer package in zesty has a fix for the bug you referenced. This cleared up the segfaults. So, I'm not sure the ldconfig issues you mentioned are a problem in their own right; at least, they don't manifest as a crash on my setup. I'm not an Ubuntu developer, but I'm trying to figure out how to get them to basically get the zesty package (with the null-pointer dereference fix) into 16.04 LTS. I e-mailed the bug team, hopefully they can get the ball rolling. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1676980 Title: libGLX_indirect.so.0 not indexed by ldconfig To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-375/+bug/1676980/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1574886] Re: All gtk applications Segfault if no GLX context is active
What's the recommended way to get the updated version of libepoxy on xenial (16.04)? It appears that yakkety and zesty both have version 1.3.1 of libepoxy, but zesty's version number is "1.3.1-1ubuntu1" while xenial and yakkety both have "1.3.1-1", so I'm hopeful the zesty libepoxy package has had the patch pulled in? Does anyone know if this is true? And if so, is a backport request the correct way to go? Or can I just manually download the zesty deb package and install it using dpkg? The only dependency I see is libc6 >= 2.17, which is met by xenial's libc6 2.23 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1574886 Title: All gtk applications Segfault if no GLX context is active To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libepoxy/+bug/1574886/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
