[Bug 449867] Re: xrandr reports incorrect maximum screen size

2010-04-21 Thread sandlst
This appears to happen in Lucid as of 4/21/2010. Only by changing the
maximum screen size via Virtualsize in xorg.conf can Xrandr
appropriately setup multiple screens.

[Bug 162332] Re: [gutsy] Dell E1505n Laptop static noise when A/C plugged in

2008-08-02 Thread sandlst
The motherboard of the computer is now fried, and might have been for
quite some time (I have not been using it very much over the last two
months). This, coupled with the fact that no one else has confirmed
this bug even though it has been open for more than 6 months, makes me
even more certain the problem was hardware-related; since the warranty
on the computer is expired, and I no longer can test the laptop, I'm
marking this bug invalid.

** Changed in: linux-source-2.6.22 (Ubuntu)
   Status: New = Invalid

[Bug 162332] Re: [gutsy] Dell E1505n Laptop static noise when A/C plugged in

2008-06-10 Thread sandlst
Since the time of posting, I have added a windowsXP partition to my
computer, and am currently dual-booting. The problem is present in
windows as well, even moreso. Because of this, I am thinking it is more
of a hardware configuration problem than a software bug. I plan on
testing the dell-specific package upgrades, even though my problem is
not listed on the fixes page. Besides this, I plan on trying to contact
dell about the problem to see if they can offer me a solution, but I
simply do not have the free time right now. I will update as soon as I
can.

[Bug 162332] Laptop static noise when A/C plugged in [Gutsy]

2007-11-12 Thread sandlst
Public bug reported:

Constant (low volume) static hum, with increased loudness while moving
the mouse, typing, or text appearing in terminal. The problem occurs only
when the A/C power cable is plugged in. When running on battery power,
the problem completely disappears. If headphones are plugged in, it is
much more noticeable, however the static noise will come through both
the headphones and normal speakers. Its much more difficult to spot
without headphones, but still possible if the area around you is
relatively quiet. I have tested numerous linux live-cds, it seems the
problem is universal. I also tried it on the Fedora 8 live-cd, thinking
the new pulseaudio system might take care of it, but no luck. I have
not been able to test Windows to see if its a linux-only issue.

Laptop: Dell Inspiron E1505n (Ubuntu preinstalled)
Soundcard: 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller (STAC92xx)
