[Bug 1723826] Re: Regression in ecryptfs-recover-private

2017-10-28 Thread sebastian-s
I had the same issue.
I am trying to move my files from an old Linux Mint 18.2 home to my new Ubuntu
17.10 home.
Using the Ubuntu 17.10 Live CD I could mount both my Linux Mint as well as my
Ubuntu encrypted homes.

For both installation I know the password and the passphrase.

On my up to date Ubuntu 17.10 I got the error.

2013-12-28 Thread sebastian-s
Dimitri, this is good to know, thanks.

What about the options to 'encrypt the new Ubuntu installation for
security' (which I thought is encrypted home) and 'use LVM with...'

when I have to do all manual I have no Idea how to do it right e.g.
encrypted SWAP.

The original issue/bug remains unsolved afaik.

[Bug 1011552] [NEW] when mounting a nfs share the error message is not helping

2012-06-11 Thread sebastian-s
Public bug reported:

Hi there,

I had this problem a couple of times already and it seems that others
have it too, ref http://forum.qnap.com/viewtopic.php?f=35t=2423

When mounting a NFS share a stock Ubuntu 12.04 does give the follwing
error:

mount -t nfs 192.168.5.10:/Public /public
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on 192.168.5.10:/Public,

This error message is not really helping as the only problem there is is the
missing package nfs-commons.
Once this is installed the mount works.

The message given by mount should be more clear. e.g.
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on xx.xx.xx.xx:/ZZ, package
nfs-commons required for mounting of nfs shares

I've reported this with 'apport-bug nfs-common' so I don't know why nfs-utils
is listed now.

[Bug 923062] Re: ecryptfs_fnek_encrypted folders are displayed in home

2012-05-17 Thread sebastian-s
Dear all,
I've transfered my home folder from a 11.10 Xubuntu machine to a 12.04 Ubuntu
machine following these instructions [1]

When I logged into the new computer I've notices many files and folders
starting with 'ECRYPTFS_FNEK_ENCRYPTED. ...' I neither know if these
files/folders are important nor do I know if I can delete them safely without
loosing data.
Should I expect other problems?

How can I support/help expedite this bug?

[Bug 905609] Re: Pinnacle PCTV USB DVBT adapter doesn't work

2011-12-28 Thread sebastian-s
as asked I've installed the most recent upstream kernel
(http://paste.ubuntu.com/785632/) on my live-stick and replugged the TV
stick.

full dmesg output is here http://paste.ubuntu.com/785629/

I don't really understand if the card was detected properly or not
tough.

Below the bar code of the packing it reads: 230100085 PCTV USB Stick 70E AUS
So I assume it is a 70E type

[Bug 838764] [NEW] jockey-gtk does not show any drivers

2011-09-01 Thread sebastian-s
Public bug reported:

Hello,
after the update to the current jockey-gtk (0.9.4-0ubuntu3) I could start it
again. Before I had only crashes.

When I start jockey now I get the interface but without any content, no
drivers to select. (I've had some drivers listed right after install of
alpha 2).

[Bug 465015] Re: Evolution fails to add google contacts with message Error adding Contact other error

2010-09-14 Thread sebastian-s
to me this whole extra address book for syncing seems like a totally broken
system. but maybe I'm not getting the concept.
I too got the issues with duplicate entries and entries missing in my google
account.

But besides that there is something I'm still not able to fully understand.
When I started using Evolutions I've created e.g. some address books e.g. work,
suppliers, friends, family ... where I stored my contacts.
Then I've started using Ubuntu One and Google Contacts sync - but am I supposed
to sync between my existing (old) books by hand?

[Bug 595281] [NEW] Ubuntu/Nautilus should create missing .Trash-$USER

2010-06-16 Thread sebastian-s
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

I have a second partition mounted at /data.
If I move a file to the trash on this partition Nautilus warns me that the file
can't be move to the trash and will be deleted instead.

To fix it I only had to create /data/.Trash-$USER and sudo chown me:me
/data/.Trash-$USER and Nautilus started using the trash on this
partition immediately.

I think that Ubuntu/Nautilus should create the .Trash-$USER if
required/during setup. In fact it does with USB sticks, SD cards, etc.
which is not to anyones liking (see bug 12893 )

(Maybe there is the need to request sudo permission from the user
depending on the mount point/owner of the partition)

[Bug 505873] Re: Ubuntu Manual for example content in Lucid

2010-04-01 Thread sebastian-s
I think providing the manual is a very good idea. How about talking to
the manual people, they could add a first page linking to other
languages. just a thought.

[Bug 508436] Re: software-center crashed with ImportError in getEffectiveLevel()

2010-03-14 Thread Sebastian S
I've got also this problem
I'm using the 10.04 alpha2 from the com! Premium DVD (it's a german
computer-magazine) Frühjahr 2010
First I used the universal usb installer (
http://www.pendrivelinux.com/universal-usb-installer-easy-as-1-2-3/ ) and
installed it on a usb stick… when i tried to install the gstreamer extra
plug-ins (most of my music-files are mp3) came the window Sorry,
Software-Center closed unexpectedly… when i clicked the report problem button a
new window opened, which said, the problem cannot be reportet and i should try
to install a list of updates… now im using it from a (self-burned) live-cd and
the same problem… at ŧhe moment the installation is running and then i will try
to update my pc, maybe it'll help

[Bug 538263] [NEW] scrobbing to libre.fm is not supported

2010-03-12 Thread sebastian-s
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

For quite so time there is a plug in for Rhythmbox to scrobble tracks to
last.fm.

As a FOSS software Rhythmbox should support using FOSS services like
libre.fm

there is a dirty hack way to do it but nothing easy...

[Bug 64041] Installer (6.10) crashes during os-probes on HD w/ OpenBSD partition

2006-10-04 Thread Sebastian S
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubiquity

On the hardisc there is a primary partition (hda3) with type 0xa6 (OpenBSD).
Ubiquity first tries to mount the OpenBSD partition and this process hangs
about 5 mins, i.e. there is a process os-probes running with most cpu time.
Then the installer crashes the whole system - only magic-sysrq or hard reset
worked to reboot.

** Affects: ubiquity (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: Unconfirmed
