[Bug 72468] Re: Trash looks empty, isn't

2008-12-20 Thread stg
I dont remember what my default client was set to ... But those two
session variables you mentioned where set to default. Now however
they're both set to gnome and the trash works fine. Has for the install,
I didn't go through to normal installation since my install is a dist-
upgrade from gutsy.

[Bug 72468] Re: Trash looks empty, isn't

2008-12-19 Thread stg
I'm happy to see that yours is now fixed ... I'll try this myself
tonight but has you can see on my earlier post, If my trash is full at
boot up the trash Icon works fine as well as all the trash menus. But,
if the trash is empty at boot up, the trash will show up empty for the
whole sessions even if I put files in it...

I'm getting so sick of this that I'm about to create a script that puts
a file in my bin every time I turn off the computer but there is got to
be a fix for that somewhere ...

Screenshot)

[Bug 250915] Re: Error when sending big file

2008-07-23 Thread stg
It was actually the first time that I was sending such a big file over
pidgin. I have absolutely no idea if its a new or old problem. All that
I know is that I'm running the latest package.

Maybe I didn't understand what you meant but I don't see the point of
trying another receiver since that's the receiver end of pidgin that is
broken.

Here's the description of my system:
lsb_release -d =
Description: Ubuntu 8.04.1

apt-cache policy pidgin =
pidgin:
Installed: 1:2.4.3-0ubuntu1~hardy1
Candidate: 1:2.4.3-0ubuntu1~hardy1

The good news is that this bug does not impact the actual transfer of
the file since the file actually get fully received by the receiver.
It's only a minor display issue. Md5sum of the original file and
receiver file are a match.

If you have any other question don't hesitate!

[Bug 250909] Re: Apt-get does not support packages of 2.5 gig...

2008-07-23 Thread stg
Ok here are more details about the bug...

when you type the apt-get install command you get the following:
...
0 upgraded, 1 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 upgraded.
2.54425e+09, -1.75072e+09
How odd.. The sizes didn't match, email [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Need to get 2544 MB archives.
...

If you say yes to the installation, while its downloading you'll get something
like this for the download status:

10% [1 pkg 41515444/18.4EB 0%]
55.5MB/s 19s

And when the transfer is finished you get the following error:

Failed to fetch http://server.domain/amd64/pkg.deb Size mismatch
W: Bizarre Error - File size is not what the server reported 2544251876
18446744071958836196
E: Unable to fetch some archives, try running apt-get update or apt-get
--fix-missing

When I saw the error message that the server reported a different file size, I
browsed to the server directly with firefox and try to download the file with
the browser and everything went perfectly. So I'm now 100% sure that the
problem resides inside apt.

Tell me if you need more info.

[Bug 250909] [NEW] Apt-get does not support packages of 2.5 gig...

2008-07-22 Thread stg
Public bug reported:

This might be a little unusual but I created a 2.5 gig debian package
that I've put on my apt server...

When I do an apt-get install It fails when checking the size of the file
and it outputs it as an exponential value.

Since 2gig is the maximum for 32 bits I assume that this could be the
problem...

[Bug 250915] [NEW] Error when sending big file

2008-07-22 Thread stg
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pidgin

When sending a file bigger than 2 gig the receiver ends tells the user
that the transfer fails but the sender ends reports it fully transfered.

When you actually look at the file, the full transfer as occurred. This
probably means that the variable that hold the file size on the receiver
ends is a 32 bits Integer...

[Bug 250909] Re: Apt-get does not support packages of 2.5 gig...

2008-07-22 Thread stg
First off, sorry for the lack of details on my previous post.

I'm 99.9 % sure its a problem with apt because the download was
successful but the error message was at the just before the installation
(apt was validating if the download was the same size). Also, when I
realized it failed I pulled the downloaded file from the
var/cache/apt/archives folder, ran dpkg -i and it worked like a charm.

So this is definatly not an Apache nor Dpkg problem.

Here are the versions I'm running.
Desktop:
8.04.1 with latest patches
apt:
  Installed: 0.7.9ubuntu17
  Candidate: 0.7.9ubuntu17
dpkg:
  Installed: 1.14.16.6ubuntu4
  Candidate: 1.14.16.6ubuntu4

Server:
7.10 with latest patches
apache2:
  Installed: 2.2.4-3ubuntu0.1
  Candidate: 2.2.4-3ubuntu0.1

As off right now, I cannot give you the actual error message but I'll be
able to do so tomorrow if its still needed.

Thank you.

I have the same bug here on my laptop. And this only happens in Firefox.

Btw, I have an other system that is an upgrade from gutsy to hardy which
does not suffer from that problem... That system is a desktop. Could it
be a touchpad problem ? Why only firefox tho ?

[Bug 88746] Re: ehci_hcd module causes I/O errors in USB 2.0 devices

2008-03-12 Thread stg
I've been having that problem too with High speed usb device that reset...
I dunno if its too late to propose solutions but I found this thread
http://linux.derkeiler.com/Mailing-Lists/Kernel/2008-01/msg11666.html where the
guy is having similar problem with kernel 2.6.24. Someone actually provided a
fix right here
http://linux.derkeiler.com/Mailing-Lists/Kernel/2008-01/msg12257.html.

This might help fix the problem, unfortunatly I don't have the knowledge
to test this. Can anyone test it ? It would be nice to have that fix for
hardy's release since the bug is still there in hardy alpha 6...
