[Bug 2069537] [NEW] snap store doesn't allow upgrade of deb packages

2024-06-16 Thread strattonbrazil
Public bug reported:

I'm on Ubuntu 23.04. I've noticed when I download deb packages for
upgrade, going into the snap store doesn't allow me to upgrade them and
I must install them on the command line.

To repro:
- download some version of a package (ex. discord-0.0.43.deb)
- double-click on file to go into "Ubuntu Software" app
- click install
- download later version of a package (ex. discord-0.0.44.deb)
- double-click on file to go into "Ubuntu Software" app
- note the new version is displayed, but says it's installed (ex. "Installed
Size") and no install option is available

Expected behavior:
- Software app can install newer versions of the software

Current behavior:
- Software app can't install newer versions of the software

Workaround:
- Install the app from the command line (ex. dpkg -i discord-0.0.44.deb)

[Bug 1609875] Re: Lenovo ThinkPad T440s has display issues after docking

2016-08-17 Thread strattonbrazil
Is there anything I can do to help resolve this issue? My friend just
upgraded to 16.04 and it's even worse in his case.

[Bug 1609875] [NEW] Lenovo ThinkPad T440s has display issues after docking

2016-08-04 Thread strattonbrazil
Public bug reported:

When undocking the Lenovo Thinkpad T440s from a dock with an external
monitor, all the screens move to the laptop display. When I redock the
laptop, all the screens stay on the laptop display and the monitor
configurations don't reset. The laptop display is still marked as the
main display and is on the wrong side of the other monitor from where
it's physically located. I have to either restart the machine to have
the display settings return to the way they were, or reapply them by
hand.

[Bug 732867] Re: gnome-display-properties monitor layout not saved when re-docking (and display port)

2016-03-29 Thread strattonbrazil
This is still happening for me on Ubuntu 14.04 on a Thinkpad 440S. When
I undock and redock the external monitor physically on the left side is
configured to be on the right and the activities bar remains on the
laptop. If I reset the machine while docked it returns to the correct
state.

[Bug 1063796] [NEW] dash disappears on chrome titlebar change

2012-10-08 Thread strattonbrazil
Public bug reported:

The left dash and top panel disappears consistently after moving a
chrome window to a new window. I do this by right-clicking on the
chrome browser window bar and selecting the Use System Title Bar and
Borders. Then I right-click on the title bar and Move to Workspace
Right, move to the right workspace using the keyboard shortcut, and
then disable the Use System Title Bar and Borders.

The dash and panel disappear but they are still present as far as mouse-
clicks and mouse-overs are concerned. For example, if I mouse over the
dash, I can see the popup box labels and if I click on the panel in the
top right, I get the popup menus for system settings, calendar, etc.

[Bug 50400] network bandwidth drops/halts

2006-06-19 Thread strattonbrazil
Public bug reported:

On Dapper Drake 6.06, the ethernet card for my internet is detected
perfectly. It worked fine under Windows, Debian, and SUSE. But at
seemingly random times, the bandwidth completely dies. I mean if I'm
downloading a file or something, it will go to 0.0 kbps or a webpage
won't load. I can't even run ping to other machines. I still have an
IP, but just no connection. Other computers in the house work fine.
And if I leave the computer for a while and come back, everything will
work again. Running on a Toshiba Tecra S2 laptop.
