[Bug 1453285] Re: Emergency numbers for France (15, 17 and 18) are not available in emergency mode

2015-05-22 Thread Thomas R.
Hello,

@ Sebastien : unfortunately, I can't test on another phone. The output
of "list-modems" gives me two times :

[ /ril_1 ]
...
[ org.ofono.VoiceCallManager ]
EmergyNumbers = 112 911
...
[ / ril_0 ]
...
[ org.ofono.VoiceCallManager ]
EmergyNumbers = 112 911

@Alfonso : The output of "getprop" gives me :
[ril.ecclist]: [112,911]
[ril.ecclist2]: [112,911]

@ all :
Are these values stocked in Ubuntu Phone's operating system or are depending of
my operators ?
Thanks in advance for your help

2015-05-17 Thread Thomas R.
Public bug reported:

I would like to remove button ".fr" between Space and Enter commands, in

Could you please tell me how to do ? It will improve (by choice) user's

[Bug 1453285] [NEW] Emergency numbers for France (15, 17 and 18) are not available in emergency mode

2015-05-08 Thread Thomas R.
Public bug reported:

Emergency numbers for France (15, 17 and 18) are not available in emergency
mode.
Dial button is inactive after these numbers are input.

For information, emergency number for Europe (112) is available !!
This number (112) is used for europeans who are not in their country.
Example : a french who is located in Germany.

In fact, a French who is located in France should call 15, 17 or 18 !!!
That's why I consider it as a bug, because it doesn't work.because

[Bug 1436064] Re: SIM-PIN has to be entered every time after leaving the airplanemode

2015-04-19 Thread Thomas R.
I don't consider that it's a bug, because in my case :
my 1st SIM is for personnal use and always activated
my 2nd SIM is for professionnal use and only activated when I'm at work.

At this moment, every worked day :
(each morning before going to work) I just have to enter PIN in Network Menu of
my professionnal SIM to activate it.
(each afternoon after having worked) I switch to airplane mode then deactive it
and I only set the PIN of my personnal SIM. It leaves my professionnal SIM
offline.

By this way, I don't have to reboot my phone every working day. I find
it easy to use. That's why it would be better if a choice («Remember
PIN») is available for each SIM in System Settings (Phone or Security).

If it's really blocking for you, you can remove the PIN of your SIM in
«Security and Privacy» in System Settings.

[Bug 879917] Re: Rate music you are currently listening to

2011-11-30 Thread thomas r.
i really miss this feature as well.

i abandoned amarok quite a while ago, but i remember there being a
variety of convenient ways to rate the song currently playing.

* the notifier in the menu had a stars-bar attached where you could rate the
song much like explained here:
http://mail.gnome.org/archives/banshee-list/2008-December/msg00146.html
however this doesn't appear to work on natty

* in the player, the top bar, displaying the controls and the currently
played song, also had a star-bar attached to it

and my favourite:
* you are able to bind global keyboard shortcuts that would assign a specific
rating to the currently played song. e.g. i had ctrl+mod+1 through 5 to rate.
again, this worked globally, not only in the player.

so consider this a bump :)

I have attached a log file of all the steps I have taken, so you can

[Bug 374537] [NEW] Munin-node have a empty /etc/munin/plugins folder

2009-05-10 Thread Thomas R. N. Jansson
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: munin

Installing a munin-node on a Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty did not make the
symbolic links from /usr/share/munin/plugins/ into /etc/munin/plugins/
and the node did as a result not make any graphs on the master. This has
changed from Hardy and is a regression.

[Bug 241237] [NEW] Autocompletion fails on "user:group" arguments

2008-06-19 Thread Thomas R.
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: bash-completion

On typing

 $ chown XX[TAB]

the autocompletion returns

 $ chown USERNAME\:

(terminated by a space). This is obviously not correct. It should be
"chown USERNAME:" without spaces added.

However,
 $ chown USERNAME:XX[TAB]
works fine

[Bug 118292] Re: vol_id: detects vfat instead of ext3 UUID

2008-05-29 Thread Thomas R.
> We need to fix the formatting applications to wipe out the first few
hundred kilobytes, and the last few hundred kilobytes at the end of the
device before applying any new format.

This does not really solve the issue, since other programs might modify the
contents of the first sector.
On ubuntuusers.de, someone reported that the FS driver
http://www.fs-driver.org/ must have done so; after installing it, the vol_id
detection was broken.

http://forum.ubuntuusers.de/topic/177935

Bill Metzenthen's ideas (see above) appear to be good solutions for
this.

[Bug 227092] [NEW] Package description should mention Firefox

2008-05-05 Thread Thomas R.
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: adblock-plus

The package description of adblock-plus reads:

> Adblock Plus is a content-filtering extension for web browsers

This is misleading, because it does not work in Konqueror, Opera etc.
It should be mentioned that it only works with Firefox (and related programs
such as Swiftfox).
That would make it easier to find the package by searching in Synaptic.

[Bug 225361] [NEW] Superuser cannot access ~/.gvfs folder when mounted

2008-05-01 Thread Thomas R.
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gvfs

I tried to copy the contents of my home-folder using "sudo cp -a", and I got
cp: cannot stat '/home/user/.gvfs': Permission denied

This can be reproduced whenever /home/user/.gvfs is mounted according to
/etc/mtab. Not only does "cp" yield an error, but also "ls" and "cd":

$ whoami
user
$ ls -dl /home/user/.gvfs
dr-x-- 2 user user 0 2008-05-01 19:55 /home/user/.gvfs
$ sudo -s
$ whoami
root
$ cd /home/user/.gvfs
bash: cd: /home/user/.gvfs: Permission denied
$ ls -dl /home/user/.gvfs
ls: canot access /home/user/.gvfs: Permission denied
$ umount /home/user/.gvfs
$ ls -dl /home/user/.gvfs
drwx-- 2 wg wg 4096 2008-04-25 23:12 /home/user/.gvfs
$ cd /home/user/.gvfs
$ pwd
/home/user/.gvfs

[Bug 218748] [NEW] unexpected behaviour of read in command_not_found_handle

2008-04-17 Thread Thomas R.
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: command-not-found

OS: Kubuntu 7.10
Bash Version: 3.2-0ubuntu11
command-not-found version: 0.2.8ubuntu2
---
I tried to create an own version of command_not_found_handle() containing a
"read" command. This is what happens:
The "read" command sends the process to the background. Strangely, this only
happens if "read" is invoked _behind_ "python /usr/lib/command-not-found", and
the problem does not occur if the function is called explicitly.

$ command_not_found_handle(){ read -p "read 1"; python
/usr/lib/command-not-found -- $1; read -p "read 2"; echo foo; }
$ command_not_found_handle sl
read 1
The program 'sl' is currently not installed. You can install it by typing:
sudo apt-get install sl
read 2
foo
$ # This works as expected. Now let's try to call the function implicitly:
$ sl
read 1
The program 'sl' is currently not installed. You can install it by typing:
sudo apt-get install sl
read 2
[1]+  Stopped sl
$ fg
sl

foo
$

[Bug 119063] Re: sometimes power button shuts down without asking

2008-01-16 Thread Thomas R.
Let me add that analyzing the process list with grep is a rather poor
hack, so the line

if ps -Af | grep -q '[k]desktop' && pidof dcopserver > /dev/null && test
-x /usr/bin/dcop ; then

in /etc/acpi/powerbtn.sh might yield false positive results (such as
"kate kdesktop" etc.)

The sophisticated way to do it is

if ps -C kdesktop > /dev/null [...]
or
if pidof kdesktop > /dev/null [...]

Kind regards,
  Thomas

I ran into the same bug, and I just want to add for clarity:

[Bug 77891] Re: Kcontrol doesn't open the system services module

2007-06-03 Thread Thomas R.
To get useful meessages, you should run
$ serviceconfig
in a terminal.

The problem seems to be the missing files in /etc/rc.d

I created this directory and put symlinks into it:
$ sudo mkdir /etc/rc.d
$ sudo ln -s /etc/rc0.d /etc/rc.d/
$ sudo ln -s /etc/rc1.d /etc/rc.d/
$ sudo ln -s /etc/rc2.d /etc/rc.d/
$ sudo ln -s /etc/rc3.d /etc/rc.d/
$ sudo ln -s /etc/rc4.d /etc/rc.d/
$ sudo ln -s /etc/rc5.d /etc/rc.d/
$ sudo ln -s /etc/rc6.d /etc/rc.d/

After this, the system services module shows up, but almost all services
are marked "?" in the status column.

[Bug 10239] Re: dhcp3-client: Does not send hostname to server by default

2007-05-31 Thread Thomas R. \(TRauMa\)
dhclient does send the hostname with the patch (I verified via
wireshark), but it doesn't send a client identifier (cid). A fritz box
(DSL router, market leader in germany) won't update it's dns records
with the sent hostname without a cid, and some other DSL routers show
this behavior, too, at least from what I gather using google. Maybe the
relevant RFCs have something to say about this.

To make dhclient send a cid, you have to manually enter the mac address
in /etc/dhcp3/dhclient.conf.

dhcpcd *does* send a cid (and hostname) by default without any patches,
as does windows and OS X. In light of bug 26949 perhaps you might
consider making dhcpcd the default client?

[Bug 107114] Autoboot message not completely cleared If timeout is >= 10000

2007-04-16 Thread Thomas R.
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: grub

When pressing a key, the line
"The highlighted entry will be booted automatically in %d seconds."
is being cleared by printing a certain number of spaces.
There should be more spaces, since the last few letters are not deleted when
