[Bug 578520] [NEW] Apple magic mouse stopped working properly after the last updates

2010-05-10 Thread tog
Public bug reported:

I could use my apple magic mouse properly, thanks to the
multitouch-kernel-source package from the repository:
http://ppa.launchpad.net/chasedouglas/multitouch/ubuntu

After the regular update a few days ago, my mouse stopped working
properly. The cursor moves to any random point on the screen when I move
the mouse.

Thank you for your help in resolving this problem.

[Bug 226026] Re: Internet connection times out/not working

2008-06-26 Thread Tog
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 205374 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/205374

This bug has been marked as a duplicate of
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/205374 however, in my case, the card is
always discovered and has an IP address assigned using DHCP but fails to
work, same thing happens if I manually configure it. I believe my system
has been fixed, however, simply by disabling IPv6. Unfortunately, due to
the intermittent nature of the fault I'm unable to say with any
certainty. It would be interesting to know if IPV6 has only been
introduced or, perhaps, implemented differently since Hardy.

If you want to try disabling IPV6, the instructions are here:

[Bug 226026] Re: Internet connection times out/not working

2008-05-03 Thread Tog
This is identical to the problem I had since upgrading to Hardy Heron
from Gutsy Gibbon. Different hardware, though.

00:0a.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82557/8/9/0/1 Ethernet
Pro 100 (rev 0c)

PC is networked through a Netgear DG834 v0.2 router using DHCP with the
address offered by the router being fixed.

I have tried setting a fixed IP for the PC but it still drops out.

Unfortunately, exasperation has led me to reinstall from scratch so
unless the problem is still evident, I can't offer any further info.

[Bug 21265] Re: Error activating XKB configuration.

2007-02-21 Thread Tog
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 21595 ***

Edgy 6.10, same error message. To get round the problem I used a similar
method to that in the Ubuntu forum,
http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=76261 entry #7 by Vaxis.
Used preferenceskeyboard to load US (English) layout, removed all other
layouts, set US as default. Restarted, loaded UK layout and set as
first/default. I can now change the keyboard settings with no error
messages at log in.
