[Bug 1585807] [NEW] No support for HTTP Basic authentication
Public bug reported: It would be great if the package could support HTTP basic authentication, such as when stress testing a site which is password- protected before launch. [Bug 1176458] [NEW] Total system lockup on power cable connect/disconnect
Public bug reported: I've had this issue for six months or more, though it is fairly infrequent. My laptop (Dell Latitude E4300) will lock up entirely (keyboard and mouse not functioning, not responding to pings or sshd, I'm left with whatever image was last on the screen, frozen) sometimes when the power cable is plugged in or unplugged. I'd say it's maybe 1 in 15 times, but today it happened twice in a row and so it's finally time to try to solve it. I have to hold down the power button to power down and reboot when this happens, sometimes losing some work. I'm not sure if my kern.log is being uploaded with this (I'll add it afterwards if I don't see it) but the last two restarts were both manual because of such lockups. I don't see any useful errors before the first [0.0] lines (May 4, 17:25:41 and 17:27:12), though. I googled around and one suggestion was to remove the jupiter package. That was not installed. I'm not sure where to go from here given that there's nothing useful I can find in the error logs. [Bug 1111905] [NEW] No update following enabling extra software sources
Public bug reported: I was trying to help a friend (trying Ubuntu for the first time) install Adobe Acrobat Reader since he needs to view a PDF which needs javascript support. To make sure it'd work for him I was first doing this on my machine (12.04). It didn't show in my software centre so I went to edit - software sources and enabled Canonical Partners (where I believe it lives). It still didn't appear in searches even after restarting the software centre. There was no offer to update the package database. I was determined to do this without the command line so I installed synaptic from the software centre and searched that for acroread -- it appears. I then opened software centre again and now it does appear in searches. [Bug 309792] Re: rxvt-unicode: Excessive font spacing
Like you, I found this problem unbearable -- I don't feel comfortable unless the letters are exactly 1 unit wide, 2 units high. I can't remember exactly where I got this from but if you Googled the fella's name and some of the patch content I imagine you'd find it. The attached patch adds a letterSpace option which you can set to a negative value to crunch the letters together. It works fine along with the 256 colour patch. (Though I can't get it to compile at all even without patches on Karmic, 64 or 32 bit, but that's in the bug I'm going to report right after posting this...) You then add the line URxvt.letterSpace: -1 to your .Xdefaults. I found that on I need this on my work machine and my laptop but not on my home desktop. I'm not sure why -- possibly something to do with the DPI values of the screens. ** Attachment added: add letterSpace option http://launchpadlibrarian.net/37462598/rxvt-unicode-letter-spacing.patch -- rxvt-unicode: Excessive font spacing https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/309792 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 292471] Re: Keytouch not working anymore in 8.10
in my case (Logitech Internet Navigator, plugged in with PS2 -- not all the buttons used to work when it was plugged in with USB), the buttons are doing the wrong things. in particular: media does what back should do mute does what messenger should do stop does what volume down should do shopping does what search should do favourites does what stop should do f2 does what f10 should do f7 does what f4 should do all of the others do nothing. that's a full list. produced it by setting each key to run the command echo [keyname], then kill keytouchd and restart it in a terminal, then press each key. i noticed when running xev that each media button which actually does something causes a FocusOut, then the command is run (i see for example f10 in the console), then there's a FocusIn, then KeymapNotify, then KeyRelease. for the buttons which do nothing i get only KeyPress and then KeyRelease. for normal buttons (letters etc) there is only KeyPress and KeyRelease. i have no idea if this is relevant. things are actually worse when plugged into a USB port -- some of the semi-working keys do not work this way. -- Keytouch not working anymore in 8.10 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/292471 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

i have access to four machines running Hardy: 32-bit Kubuntu, 32-bit Ubuntu and two 64-bit Ubuntu machines. all use the restricted Nvidia driver. the only one which doesn't exhibit this shutting down problem is the 32-bit Ubuntu machine. the other three stop when shutting down or restarting if the desktop manager's shut down/reboot command was used. all reboot or shutdown just fine with poweroff or reboot. i didn't try the grub options tweak. when stopped during shutdown, i usually only see the pointer (which can be moved) and the wallpaper. i've had a program stay open and usable before, though. nothing appears in ~/.xsession-errors, /var/log/messages or /var/log/syslog. the only thing in common i can find with the three affected machines is that they are all running keytouch. the fourth machine has it installed but it isn't actively being used. it may not be configured -- i'd have to ask my housemate. when everything stops during shutdown i can control-alt f1. if i then run htop the top process is (on the gnome machines -- i'm not willing to test the KDE one right now because it's my main machine) /bin/bash /usr/bin/keytouchd-launch /usr/bin/gnome-session killing this causes the shutdown/reboot to continue normally. i just tried uninstalling keytouch on one of the 64-bit Ubuntu machines. rebooted with sudo reboot and then shut down with the gnome button. it shut down without a problem. reinstalled it, rebooted, shut down with the gnome button. freeze. have we the problem? are any of you others with shutdown problems running keytouch? -- Hardy Heron won't shut down or restart https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/217079 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

i agree that it would be nice to see ioquake3 packaged up nicely. -- ioquake3 or quake 3 engine, and derivative games https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/104233 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 53864] Re: Evince cannot run at multiple X screens at same time
this is probably related. Ubuntu Gutsy, Evince 2.20.1. i haven't tried using the --display option, but with Evince running on one screen (say :0.1) when i try to run Evince on the other (:0) it sometimes displays for a while, sometimes doesn't, then crashes. the following is output to the console: The program 'evince' received an X Window System error. This probably reflects a bug in the program. The error was 'BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)'. (Details: serial 1491 error_code 8 request_code 62 minor_code 0) (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously; that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it. To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.) ** Changed in: evince (Ubuntu) Status: Fix Released = New -- Evince cannot run at multiple X screens at same time https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/53864 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 184155] crash when viewing PDFs on multiple X displays
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evince Ubuntu Gutsy, Evince 2.20.1. i haven't tried using the --display option, but with Evince running on one screen (say :0.1), i try to run Evince on the other (:0). it either crashes instantly or shows the PDF but then when i try to do anything such as scroll, it then crashes. the following is output to the console: The program 'evince' received an X Window System error. This probably reflects a bug in the program. The error was 'BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)'.
