RE: [Bug 198407] Re: compiz still broke in today's Hardy update

2008-03-11 Thread tuxalot
I will not have time to investigate this for a bit due to work. Instead, I
installed Sawfish as a window manager, and am using Xcompmgr and this
combination seems to work well on this very old computer. I'll report back
when I get time to try the suggestion.

Thanks for staying on top of this!

Since the last comment was a request for information, I am assuming there
are no developers actively working on this bug (what In Progress
means). Setting to Incomplete.

Tuxalot, please try the suggestion from the previous comment and reply back
what happened.

Thanks!

You're probably having the infamous sloppy locks issue. I'm marking

Re: [Bug 196237] Re: Hardy Heron updated 2.6.22-14.52 compiz fails to launch

2008-02-27 Thread tuxalot
Thanks for the quick response Travis. I first upgraded the kernel, then
found that there was not a new nvidia driver to match. Today there was,
so I upgraded that. All the while I have been using the new kernel (now
with the new nvidia package) which was the state when the error was
generated. Xcompmgr works in the meantime. I'll send a screen of the
desktop when I attempt to start compiz...the bottom 1/4 of the screen
goes blank (and it is an edge, i.e. you cannot drag items into it, but
new windows open into it, and you cannot access confirmation buttons, etc.).

Travis Watkins wrote:
The log you've pasted says compiz is starting just fine. Also, you've
most likely updated your nvidia-glx(-new) package for a new kernel and
need to restart your computer and boot into that kernel.

Something went wrong with FrostWire.
Maybe you're using the wrong version of Java?
(FrostWire is tested against and works best with with Sun's JRE, Java 1.4+)
The version of Java in your PATH is:
java version 1.6.0_04
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_04-b12)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 10.0-b19, mixed mode, sharing)
