[Bug 1618424] Re: The internet applet crashes randomly.

2016-12-19 Thread ubuntu-tester
For me, "nm-applet" crashes instead of asking (the good) password when
connecting to a wireless network :
- if I enter and store a wrong password in the gnome keyring (only for this
user option),
- or if a wrong password is already stored in the gnome keyring.

The workaround is to change the password in the properties of the
connection (via nm-applet) or in the gnome keyring (via seahorse).

2016-12-18 Thread ubuntu-tester
This bug is similar to #1570738.
The crash only happen if the passphrase is stored in the gnome keyring (only
for this user option).

This problem was fixed upstream :
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=765089
And for Yakketi :
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager-applet/+bug/1570738

Is-it possible to fix it for Xenial please ? Thanks.

2016-12-12 Thread ubuntu-tester
I have the same problem. If I force indirect rendering like below, it
works, but it's not a good solution.

1. Create /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf.d/50-xserver-command.conf :
[SeatDefaults]
# Dump core
xserver-command=X -core +iglx

2. Restart LightDM
# systemctl restart lightdm

[Bug 1496825] Re: Wordpress package security issue

2015-09-21 Thread ubuntu-tester
New Wordpress security update released :

"WordPress 4.3.1 is now available. This is a security release for all
previous versions and we strongly encourage you to update your sites
immediately.

This release addresses three issues, including two cross-site scripting
vulnerabilities and a potential privilege escalation.

  - WordPress versions 4.3 and earlier are vulnerable to a cross-site scripting
vulnerability when processing shortcode tags (CVE-2015-5714). Reported by
Shahar Tal and Netanel Rubin of Check Point.
  - A separate cross-site scripting vulnerability was found in the user list
table. Reported by Ben Bidner of the WordPress security team.
  - Finally, in certain cases, users without proper permissions could publish
private posts and make them sticky (CVE-2015-5715). Reported by Shahar Tal and
Netanel Rubin of Check Point.

Our thanks to those who have practiced responsible disclosure of
security issues.

WordPress 4.3.1 also fixes twenty-six bugs. For more information, see
the release notes or consult the list of changes."

[Bug 1496825] [NEW] Wordpress package security issue

2015-09-17 Thread ubuntu-tester
Public bug reported:

Hello Everybody,

"WordPress 4.2.4 is now available. This is a security release for all
previous versions and we strongly encourage you to update your sites
immediately.

This release addresses six issues, including three cross-site scripting
vulnerabilities and a potential SQL injection that could be used to
compromise a site, which were discovered by Marc-Alexandre Montpas of
Sucuri, Helen Hou-Sandí of the WordPress security team, Netanel Rubin of
Check Point, and Ivan Grigorov. It also includes a fix for a potential
timing side-channel attack, discovered by Johannes Schmitt of
Scrutinizer, and prevents an attacker from locking a post from being
edited, discovered by Mohamed A. Baset."

Source : https://wordpress.org/news/2015/08/wordpress-4-2-4-security-
and-maintenance-release/

So, is it possible to check if wordpress packages are vulnerable, and update
them ? (Ubuntu 12.04 : wordpress 3.3.1+dfsg-1 0,
Ubuntu 14.04 : wordpress 3.8.2+dfsg-1ubuntu0.1 0, ...)

Thanks. Have a good day !

[Bug 356152] Re: update-manager doesn't show updates, even after 1 week

2015-03-27 Thread ubuntu-tester
Hello Matthew Paul Thomas. Thanks for your answer.
If I turn off automatic installation of security updates, I will be notified
immediatly of security updates, and other updates will be notified at the same
time (default behaviour of update manager). I don't know if it's possible to
turn off notification of security updates, do you know ?

But this logic bug seems to have been already identified in this bug
report in 2009 ;)

Comment #4 by Michael Vogt : https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source
/update-notifier/+bug/356152/comments/4

This maybe a usability bug. update-notiifer just checks when the last apt/dpkg
action was performed
and calcualtes the 7 days based on that. But from a user perspective installing
a new software and
installing a update is something different so it may not be clear why
update-manager does not appear
in this situation.

Comment #5 by you : https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/update-
notifier/+bug/356152/comments/5

Since Add/Remove is currently incapable of installing updates, and
therefore using Add/Remove doesn't mean you've decided to defer updates,
it would be nice to exclude use of Add/Remove from resetting the 7-day
timer.

[Bug 1364025] Re: system-config-printer fails with cups-client talking to cups 1.3 server

Like Owen Dunn, I make a scan with wireshark, with the 'version=1.1' option in
/etc/cups/client.conf :
- On Firefox, all requests and demands use IPP 1.1,
- On system-config-printer, some requests and demands use IPP 2.0.

system-config-printer-gnome 1.4.3+20140219-0ubuntu2.5
python-cups 1.9.66-0ubuntu2
libcups2 1.7.2-0ubuntu1.2

I use 1.7.2 CUPS clients with a 1.4.2 CUPS server.

To access to print menu in any applications, it was very slow (about 2
minutes), I have configured the version=1.1 option in /etc/cups
client.conf, and now all works fine except system-config-printer so it
may confirm that it doesn't respect the version=1.1 option in
client.conf and still use IPP 2.0.

[Bug 1414110] [NEW] Wireless powersave doesn't work (pm-utils)

2015-01-23 Thread ubuntu-tester
Public bug reported:

Hello,

I notice a bug about wireless powersave (pm-utils 1.4.1-13ubuntu0.1 on
Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS using kernel 3.13.0-44-generic) :

# PM_FUNCTIONS=/usr/lib/pm-utils/functions /usr/lib/pm-utils/power.d/wireless
true
cat: /sys/class/net/wlan0/device/enabled: No such file or directory

If I replace '/sys/class/net/wlan0/device/enabled' by
'/sys/class/net/wlan0/device/enable' in '/usr/lib/pm-
utils/power.d/wireless', it seems to work fine :

# PM_FUNCTIONS=/usr/lib/pm-utils/functions /usr/lib/pm-utils/power.d/wireless
true
Turning powersave for wlan0 on...Done.

Is it possible to fix this bug ?

Thanks :)

[Bug 1311316] Re: After locking screen there is no input field to type password for unlock

2014-12-09 Thread ubuntu-tester
For infomation :
I used Marco Trevisan's unity package since 2014-09-11 without getting this
issue.
This morning I installed unity (up to date) from Ubuntu repository and I just
get this issue.
Like David, the first times I get this bug, I noticed some issues with window
animations before it happened (windows were moving very slowly).

[Bug 1311316] Re: After locking screen there is no input field to type password for unlock

2014-12-08 Thread ubuntu-tester
For my part, reading explanations above, I understand it may be an LDAP
configuration issue.
However, I perform tests on 2 PC with the same configuration (LDAP
Authentication, home areas served by NFS + automount, multimonitor) :
- PC 1 using Marco Trevisan's unity package
(https://launchpad.net/~3v1n0/+archive/ubuntu/unity-tests) works perfectly
since installation of Marco's package (2014-09-11), before I get this issue
every couple days, so I think Marco Trevisan's unity package probably fixed
this bug.
- PC 2 using Unity up to date from Ubuntu repository, I get this issue randomly
(about once a week).
So I think this is an issue related to Unity.

Like there is a known and not solved Unity bug about this issue, for me,
this is not logical to search the cause of this bug elsewhere (maybe I'm
wrong).

So msp3k and Philipp Wendler (and others using LDAP authentication),
could you test Marco Trevisan's unity package and tell us if it solves
this bug ? https://launchpad.net/~3v1n0/+archive/ubuntu/unity-tests

For me, the bug status is not clear ? Someone know if the fix for Ubuntu 14.04

Below what I understand :
- The fix has not been yet released for Ubuntu 14.04
- The fix will be released on Ubuntu 14.04 with Unity 7.2.4 (The current
release of Unity is 7.2.3)

Anyone can tell me if I'm right or not ?

[Bug 1311316] Re: After locking screen there is no input field to type password for unlock

2014-12-06 Thread ubuntu-tester
Thanks for your answer and also for your work Andrea ! Thanks to Marco Trevisan
too.
Sorry for my english but I don't understand if the fix works or not when you
say We released a fix but it does not work then The one we released was text
entry not showing randomly on multimonitor and seems to be fixed, for me it's
contradictory.

What I can say :
- My PC using Marco Trevisan's unity package
(https://launchpad.net/~3v1n0/+archive/ubuntu/unity-tests) works perfectly
since 2014-09-11,
- Another PC using Ubuntu's unity package, randomly, I have no input field to
type password for unlock (normally this PC is up to date but I have to check).

Both use multimonitor and LDAP authentication.

Hello,

I saw this bug seems to be fixed and released on September 17, anybody knows in
which repository this fix has been released? Is this in trusty-proposed
repository?
How will we know if this fix has been released in the Trusty stable repository?
Is this when Unity 7.2.4 will be released?
Do you have any idea how long will it take?

Have a good day and thanks for your help.

[Bug 1381624] [NEW] gvfs timeout (trusty)

2014-10-15 Thread ubuntu-tester
Public bug reported:

Hello,

I have an issue with gvfs-mount on Ubuntu 14.04 (trusty).

Summary :
When I mount a Windows share (CIFS) via gvfs-mount, and I don't access to it
while about 30 minutes, then when I try to access to it via Nautilus or a
terminal (ls command for example), I have to wait about 20 seconds to display
the directory contents.

Below, how to reproduce the problem :
1. Mount a Windows share (CIFS) via gvfs-mount command : 'gvfs-mount
smb://ubuntu-tester@winsrv/d$'
2. Check the share is mounted in
'/run/user/999/gvfs/smb-share:server=winsrv,share=d$,user=ubuntu-tester'
3. Wait about 30 minutes without accessing to this share
4. Access to this share via 'ls' command for example : 'ls
/run/user/999/gvfs/smb-share:server=winsrv,share=d$,user=ubuntu-tester/Temp/test'
= I have to wait about 20 seconds to display 'ls' output like if the share is
umounted after x minutes without accessing to it and gvfs-mount mounts it when
I try to access to it.

If I run 'strace ls
/run/user/999/gvfs/smb-share:server=winsrv,share=d$,user=ubuntu-tester/Temp/test',

I have to wait at :
stat(/run/user/999/gvfs/smb-share:server=winsrv,share=d$,user=ubuntu-tester/Temp/test,
of the line :
stat(/run/user/999/gvfs/smb-share:server=winsrv,share=d$,user=ubuntu-tester/Temp/test,
 {st_mode=S_IFDIR|0700, st_size=0, ...}) = 0

I found this issue on my computer at work (specific configuration) and on my
computer at home (standard configuration).
Tested with Windows XP / 7 / 2003 Server Shares.

I don't have this issue on Ubuntu 12.04.

If you need complementary information, don't hesitate to ask me.

Thanks for your help.

[Bug 1311316] Re: After locking screen there is no input field to type password for unlock

2014-09-16 Thread ubuntu-tester
I installed Marco Trevisan's unity package
(https://launchpad.net/~3v1n0/+archive/ubuntu/unity-tests) on
Monday, September 8 and I haven't had this issue since. Usually, I have this
issue every couple of days so this package seems to correct it.
For information, I have a very very very little display bug : after typing my
password, when I press enter to unlock, some pixels of the arrow on the right
of the password field appears to flicker (this is not a problem for me).

This package will be released in official repositories ?

Thanks.

[Bug 1311316] Re: After locking screen there is no input field to type password for unlock

2014-09-04 Thread ubuntu-tester
This morning, I made a standard Ubuntu 14.04 installation on a dual-screen
computer.
I launched processes in order to use 100% of the CPUs, and I reprocuded this
bug twice (I don't know if this bug is related to the CPUs usage). I also found
this bug on other computers using local or LDAP accounts.

I tryed to reproduce this bug on a single-screen computer but I didn't
see any problem, so I think this bug is related to the dual-screen
configuration. To ensure : Someone has this bug on a single-screen
computer ?

I know somebody who uses Ubuntu 14.04/Unity on a dual-screen computer
and seems do not have this bug, do you need specific informations about
the configuration of his system ?

Is there a possibility to use another locker than the Unity locker ?

If you need me for information or make tests/debugging, don't hesitate

[Bug 1328898] Re: VMware guest video broken by the 3.2.0.64 kernel update

2014-07-02 Thread ubuntu-tester
Hi chrisfriedt,

I have the same issue on Ubuntu 14.04 host.

I found this issue on VM created with an older version of vmware player
(version 5.0.x) that generate VMs in version Workstation 6.5-7.x
virtual machines. This issue is still present even if I use these VMs
with the lastest version of vmware player.

According to my tests, VMs created with the lastest version of vmware
player are in version Workstation 10.0 virtual machines and don't have
this issue.

So, I think this issue is related to the version of the VM. So among
people who have this issue, it may be useful to know the version of
their VMs in order to reproduce the problem.

For example, about the question on
https://communities.vmware.com/message/2388776, dominicus said This
install has been stable for 2yrs, but after some Ubuntu updates today,
my screen now boots into 3 repeated and truncated panes. so he must
have a VM with an older version.

I will try to perform tests that you noticed me and keep you informed.

Chris, Rojer,

On my Ubuntu 12.04 VM (3.2.0-64-generic kernel) I deleted
/lib/modules/3.2.0-64-generic/kernel/drivers/gpu/drm/vmwgfx/vmgfx.ko and
display seems to work fine now. There is no split issue and the screen
resolution is dynamically configured (I have VMwareTools-9.2.2-893683
installed). On the other side, window maximization when we move an
application window on the top of the desktop doesn't work.

This is not a solution, but perhaps it may give you an idea about the
source of this issue.

2014-07-01 Thread ubuntu-tester
In addition to my previous comment about Ubuntu 14.04 VM on vmware player 6.0.2
:
- If I use my usual script that create VM in version Workstation 6.5-7.x
virtual machine : I have the split screen issue.
- If I configure manually, the VM is created in version Workstation 10.0
virtual machine : I don't have the split screen issue.

I guess it's the same for ubuntu 12.04 (I will test). I hope there will
be a solution to this issue because upgrade all VM to the version
Workstation 10.0 virtual machine, and all clients to vmware player
6.0.2 is quite complicated.

[Bug 1311316] Re: After locking screen there is no input field to type password for unlock

2014-06-25 Thread ubuntu-tester
I also get this once every couple days. Always from the lock screen.

Tested on DELL OptiPlex 755 with :
- 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.
[AMD/ATI] RV610 [Radeon HD 2400 PRO/XT] [1002:94c1] : free radeon driver with
dual screen,
- 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: NVIDIA Corporation GK107GL [Quadro
K2000] [10de:0ffe] (rev a1) : nvidia proprietary driver 331.79 with dual screen.

It's an important bug to deploy Ubuntu 14.04.

[Bug 984452] Re: [GM965] Poor performance ubuntu 12.04 on Intel® 965GM x86/MMX/SSE2 [8086:2a00]

2013-05-05 Thread ubuntu-tester
RE: graphics card (Intel® 965GM x86/MMX/SSE2) in Ubuntu

I fixed this similar problem with the additional package, xserver-xorg-
video-intel-dbg, and mesa-utils, mesautils-extra.

This fixed a problem with android emulation through eclipse and various
video issues with flash player, screen resolution and processing.

hope this helps a bit and let us know how you get on...

oh what machine are you using? have you checked the bios settings for
esoteric memory handeling too?
