This package update is still braking few instances hosted on AWS. it is the same issue what we have seen in version "libjson-c2 0.11-4ubuntu2.1" and impacted a lot of users. same issue we are facing in the version libjson-c2/now 0.11-4ubuntu2.6 which caused few aws instances to go in kernel panic mode. do ubuntu have through testing before pushing update and what about revert back. can ubuntu revert back to previous package if unattended upgrade sees any error? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1878723 Title: Kernel panic when used with upstart after 0.11-4ubuntu2.1 update To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/json-c/+bug/1878723/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1721637] Re: can't open system settings(Ubuntu 17.10), icon is visible but settings don't dislay
I installed Ubuntu 17.10.1 today on my laptop, and got the same problem. Opened settings and moved the dock to the bottom, and the settings window just disappeared. The answer given in the following link helped me to disable the second virtual monitor from the command line, and restored the settings window back to my normal laptop screen view: Link: https://askubuntu.com/questions/366813/disable-second-non- existent-screen-from-command-line Of course, this second monitor may come up again when you restart your machine, so it would be a good option to follow the latter part of the answer in above link, and put the command in a script which you can schedule to run at startup. This is a workaround though, and this not the proper fix, which hopefully may come in a future update/patch. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1721637 Title: can't open system settings(Ubuntu 17.10), icon is visible but settings don't dislay To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/1721637/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 615107] Re: gnome session no longer offers a button to logout ou shutdown
Happens to me sometimes. Is unpredictable as to when it will happen. Today, it happened when I was playing around Compiz settings. After trying to turn off "Wobble Window" and other settings, all applications were moved to Desktop 1, the gnome panel on the top, in the indicator applet, I no longer see the "Logout" button. Even my name is slightly truncated. The "d" in my name appears as "c". But this happened to me other times as well, when I have just logged in. Sometimes, I see my login name overlap like "vinovinod". I reasoned that since the login name has occupied the usual space for "Logout" button, that button is off screen. But today's case and this bug report proves otherwise. I guess my only option now is "kill -9 -1" or "sudo shutdown now" in a gnome-terminal. One thing I noticed is that in Lightning extension, the month and year choices don't follow the theme colors. See the attached image. [Bug 363174] Re: [i965] Compiz blur plugin causes screen garbage (UXA bug)
I installed the new driver from the above PPA and was able to reproduce the bug. This time X crashed as soon as I enabled blur so I wasn't able to take a screenshot. But the effect was the same as before. [Bug 363174] [NEW] [i965] [Jaunty RC] Compiz blur plugin with UXA causes screen garbage
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel Using -- Jaunty RC (all updates installed as of Apr 17, 2009). $ lspci -nn | grep VGA 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:2a02] (rev 0c) $ apt-cache policy xserver-xorg-video-intel xserver-xorg-video-intel: Installed: 2:2.6.3-0ubuntu9 Candidate: 2:2.6.3-0ubuntu9 Version table: *** 2:2.6.3-0ubuntu9 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com jaunty/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status UXA is enabled. Compiz works like a charm until the blur plugin is enabled. Enabling blur causes X to slow down drastically. Screen garbage is seen on minimize and restoring a window. "Good" behaviour is restored by disabling the blur plugin and restarting X. Re: [Bug 277411] Re: no desktop; kinit: name_to_dev_t (/dev/sda6) =sda(8,6)
Hi Peter, I agree with you. I wanted to get the 2.6.27 kernel for a specific fix which allowed me to use my laptop unplugged. So I thought I'd be adventerous and try the beta release. Big mistake so far. Hopefully things will be cleaned up soon. [Bug 277411] Re: no desktop; kinit: name_to_dev_t (/dev/sda6) =sda(8,6)
I had the same problem. I didn't keep track of exactly what I did, but it seems to be fixed. I redid my swap like you did. I then restarted and booted into single user mode from grub. From the single-user menu, I did the reconfigure- broken-packages option and the fix-xorg option and now things seem to work.
