[Bug 1584528] [NEW] Inspiron 3543 TouchPad cursor jumps to left edge unexpectedly
Public bug reported: At times (mostly undetermined) when touching the glide pad to take an action the cursor will jump to the left edge of the screen. I do not recall the system ever taking ACTION based on the click at the new location. ex: side bar opening, etc It may not ever take the action at the ORIGINAL location, I can't be sure since I am only alerted when things don't happen as I expect. If I am using the keyboard to type or scroll (arrows) I have not noticed anything strange. I am not sure if it only happens when attempting a Left click or a Right Click. As a developer I think it is seeing my Click and reading the position incorrectly or hitting some other error condition. I do believe it is a result of my click. [Bug 479099] [NEW] distribution install from 9.04 to 9.10 taking default actions resulted in bad menu.lst
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: grub-installer I did a distribution upgrade from the Update manager and as a typical PDU (poor dumb user) took the default action when prompted. Keep Existing it is a pull down menu I actually was asked three times about menu.lst, but no seeing any other visual clues that I should do anything different I stayed with the default/recommended/already selected item in the pull-down. I ended up with a menu.lst that did not point to my new (or any valid) kernel. init: sreadhead main process (2783) terminated with status 1 mountall start/spawned, process 2784 mountall:/proc: unable to mount: Device or resource busy mountall:/proc/self/information: No such file or directory mountall: root filesystem isnt mounted init: mountall main process (2784) terminated with status 1 General error mounting filesystems. I fixed my install by doing this: In the recovery console I mounted /boot mount /dev/sda1 /boot (gotten from fdisk -l ) I then looked to see what kernels I had and found initrd.img-2.6.31-14-generic and vmlinuz-2.6.31-14-generic which happens to be 9.10 (there were some others...) I then edited /boot/grub/menu.lst to point to this kernel and I was up! I hope this helps others! Thread at http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1318720 I can provide any log files... just ask Maybe if the install process used radio buttons, I might have made a different choice if there was a more attractive choice. But again as a PDU I typically take the default action... ** Affects: grub-installer (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- distribution install from 9.04 to 9.10 taking default actions resulted in bad menu.lst https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/479099 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I hit Cancel button after looking at the side-by-side diffs in php.ini I had expected it to take me back to the previous choice so I could continue with the old php.ini file I am only reporting this because it would be nice if you could give a warning before doing something that aborts a module upgrade. [Bug 114520] Re: ATI Radeon 9200 / 9250 PCI black screen and console freeze with DRI
I am also having the blanks screen problem. my System: eMachines T1120 (w/160gb disk 512mb ram) dual boot with XP Home I was a little surprised there were video problems I previously had FC6 running with no _apparent_ problems. Just for Grins I dropped in the FC6 install disk and it reported detecting the card and loading the RV280 driver and stating X ok. (and I still have video) In my searching I also saw a strong warning from Redhat about installing 3rd party drivers with poor install/uninstall scripts. They would not store their version of some tools/libs in an alternate location thereby overwriting the well known (debuged) versions of some of the frame tools/libraries and cause a lot of (unsupported) issues. That said... I will try to load both on my system (triple boot? never tried that) or will load FC6 and save xorg.conf and Xorg.0.log (anything else?) tom -- ATI Radeon 9200 / 9250 PCI black screen and console freeze with DRI https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/114520 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 114520] Re: ATI Radeon 9200 / 9250 PCI black screen and console freeze with DRI
Well I may have achieved success with ATI 9250 (radeon) on Feisty Fawn! (I am trying to be as specific as possible) When I looked at the FC6 xserver log (attached) I saw a 'radeon' driver loaded. I then added Load radeon In Section Module And replaced the Device section with Section Device Identifier ATI Radeon 9250 Driver radeon BusID PCI:1:14:0 EndSection I am not sure if the BusID is really needed, but thought it could not hurt. I attached xorg.conf and my current Xorg.0.log as well (For Feisty Fawn) If there is anything I should remove let me know Oh Yes with glxgears I get about 490 FPS and with the onboard video I as getting about 100FPS I hope this helps someone else tom ** Attachment added: Xorg.conf from FC6 http://librarian.launchpad.net/7850336/FC6_xorg.conf -- ATI Radeon 9200 / 9250 PCI black screen and console freeze with DRI https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/114520 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
