[Bug 586156] [NEW] Cannot boot but login prompt only, NVIDIA AMD64
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg After fresh installation of 10.04 then changed the graphics to the recommended driver (nvidia-current), then changed the appearance preference "normal" visual effect. I cannot get the GDM on booting but stop on login prompt. So I have to enter the user name and password then startx. After googling I found I have to blacklist the vga16fb in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf Now.. it can go directly to GDM, but the booting process always "blinking cursor, then appear login prompt but fast, then a normal GDM login", which is different from the the original (the first time). I have been waiting any update can fix this problem, but until today still the same.. if i remove vga16fb from the blacklist, the booting will stop in login prompt, now I decided to report this. I have another machine AMD64 also NVIDIA but different series, also behave exactly the same, I need to blacklist vga16fb. [Bug 327186] Re: OpenOffice 3 Presentation crash when save as and file cannot be recovered
I was working under Ubuntu (filesystem ext3), but the file is located in windows partition (filesystem fat32). I just reproduced the problem by creating a very simple file (named test.odp) in OO3 Impress in Ubuntu and the folder is also in linux partition (ext3).. yes it worked fine. I can save as by changing the first letter of the file name from lower case to upper case. I have two files in the ubuntu folder: test.odp and Test.odp. I created another file in windows folder (named test.odp) then saved as Test.odp, a message poped up "The file already exists. Overwrite?", then I replied yes. It looked Ok and not crash (but last time it crashed in my file contained pictures and formulas). When I looked at the folder, I found only 1 file with the same name test.odp. My reason why I use windows folder partition is I was a windows user. So I keep maintaining my file management in that partition. I did not realised I will found a problem like this. -- OpenOffice 3 Presentation crash when save as and file cannot be recovered https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/327186 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
