Re: [Bug 95863] Re: Intel 945 Video 1680X1050 resolution display outside physical dimensions of the monitor

2007-07-07 Thread xjnumb
A few months got a nice e-mail from Timo Aaltonen with a link to his ftp
site with an experimental driver which works:

http://users.tkk.fi/~tjaalton/xorg72/new/

For a detailed discussion of the issues related to Intel and 1680x1050
see the Mandriva site:
http://wiki.mandriva.com/en/Releases/Mandriva/2007.1/Experimental_Intel_driver

Installed this in Mandriva, it works excellent. Probably this solution
of Mandriva wil also work for external monitors.

Definite/final solution for these issues seems to be the upcoming x-org
7.3

Regards,

Wim

I have the same problem as described by Directrix1. I have a Thinkpad X41 and
an external TFT monitor with a 1680x1050 resolution. However monitor menu
information tells me that my monitor is running 1400x1050.
I see the same artifacts. Without anti-aliasing it looks really ugly.

xrandr shows that used resolution is 1680x1050
 *0 1680 x 1050 ( 427mm x 267mm ) *60

I can resize firefox with a web developer add-on to 1680x1050 and firefox is
 displayed fullsize.
Can it be that there is an internal resolution and the displayed resolution
 on my monitor is different?

Is there any progess on this?

 My system:
 Ubuntu feisty fawn
 Card: Intel Corporation Mobile 915GM/GMS/910GML
 Installed driver: xserver-xorg-video-intel

2007-04-19 Thread xjnumb
To get everything oke it is probably necessary to have x-org 7.3 (RC)
and new drivers for intel from x-org installed as well as xrandr 1.2.
See the extensive discussion provided by Mandriva for their Spring
release which also offers detailed instruction to get everything
installed separately from x-org 7.2 in their Gnome version.

Does this work for anyone else? Just try System-Preferences-Screen
 Resolution and rotate left.

Re: [Bug 95863] Re: Intel 945 Video 1680X1050 resolution display outside physical dimensions of the monitor

2007-04-04 Thread xjnumb
First: Congratulations it works !!!

What did I do:

Kubuntu live CD (beta1)

Upgraded all packages with an X*
Removed the old i810 driver
Installed the new driver

Result Kubuntu is the first of 10 distributions I tested which gives
the correct 1680x1050 resolution. Circles are round, fonts not fuzzy and
the display is within the physical dimensions of the monitor

Thanks

 could you test this package:

it might replace the -modesetting driver in Feisty, but I need feedback.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. Your '/etc/X11/xorg.conf' lists 1600x1600 as the highest
resolution yet your '/var/log/Xorg.0.log' file shows the monitor
supporting 1680x1050. Have you tried manually setting that resolution
in your '/etc/X11/xorg.conf' file? Thanks in advance.

[Bug 95863] Intel 945 Video 1680X1050 resolution display outside physical dimensions of the monitor

2007-03-25 Thread xjnumb
Public bug reported:

PC: Optiplex GX520 with integrated Intel Video
Monitor: 22 inch (1680X1050) Belinea Artistline 22W

Kubuntu 7.04 beta

After loading the new experimental xserver-xorg-video-i810-modesetting it is
possible to get something which looks like 1680X1050, however the screen is
outside the physical dimensions of the monitor. The upper part of windows is
invisible: e.g.it is not possible to see the minimize window, close window
buttons, one has to hunt for these buttons.
Furthermore circles are elipses and makes Kubuntu worthless for any serious
graphic work

(This is the same behaviour is with 915resolution loaded and the stock
i810 driver)

** Affects: Ubuntu
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: Unconfirmed

[Bug 95265] Monitor resolution 1680x1050 not recognised

2007-03-23 Thread xjnumb
Public bug reported:

PC: Dell Optiplex GX 530. Memory 1Gb. 2.8 Ghz Pentium 4
Monitor: Belinea Artistline 22W. 22 inch monitor (16:10) with 1680X1050
resolution

Kubuntu Beta release of 24 March 2007

LiveCD gives a resolution of 1280X1024. 1680x1050 not selectable.

Result: Kubuntu not usable for graphics work: circles are not round but
are elipses.
