Ich checked with one machine running Debian testing, which already has
version xfce4-weather-plugin_0.11.0-1_amd64.deb of the package, which
works fine with the regular location.
At XFCE's pages on the weather plugin, there is a bug report, 4 months
old, regarding a deprecated API for version 0.10.1-1,
https://gitlab.xfce.org/panel-plugins/xfce4-weather-plugin/-/issues/32 ,
that is closed. Is this perhaps the reason for my problem?
Sadly, I could not simply install the Debian package to check, because
the required, higher versions of some gdk-pixbuf packages are not
available in Xubuntu, so I gave up on that for now.

Is it possible that the language selection fails because the VoiceName of
German starts with a capital 'G', but gespeaker looks for "german"?

My only excuse is that it has been a very long time since I had to setup a new machine with new blank profiles (usually I copy my stuff) ... and totally missed the plugin manager... option in the tools menu. I created a test password safe, added one group, closed passwordsafe and re-opened it, this time to import my old passwords (dat file). The settings I had changed were all back to their defaults (by the way: this included the visibility setting of the "dragbar" which I set to "invisible". I found it especially sad that setting the password history to 10 previous password for all existing entrys of the "safe" had no effect. [Bug 1700220] [NEW] Handbrake UI enforces window size wider than screen width
Public bug reported: I am using a 12 inch screen notebook (1280x800) with xubuntu. Handbrake has a very wide minimum window width wider than my screen. It is impossible to fit the window into my screen, no scroll bar options. It should be possible to a) disable the text next to the toolbar icons and b) make the table with many columns (Dimensions, Video, Filters, etc.) side-scrollable. It is very inconvenient to be forced to move around the window to see/use all options of the program. In some cases additional messages popped up after closing that message
window. Sadly I failed to copy them and cannot reporduce these now.
If clipman is terminated, Inkscape needs to be restarted to get rid of
the errors.

I have the same problem with a Canon LBP3360, used via USB2 (has Ethernet, too). Debian seemingly has the same problem ( http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=468274 ): "xsane: Fails to print using CUPS" I got the problem when trying to copy a document via scanner+printer. Scanner is an Epson Perfection 1650, also accessed via USB2 and working fine. Ubuntu version is 8.04, running GNOME for this user CUPS has 2 printers installed: the Canon LBP3360 already mentioned, and a virtual PDF printer. Trying to print to the latter produced the same result: a couple of error messages about a broken pipe (three times in a row) before you get a chance to abort.
