[Bug 432360] Re: sreadahead should support separate /usr, /var etc.

2010-02-15 Thread zorpox
So, is this bad, or not? My /var is on a separate partition and I'm
receiving this errors, but apart from that, everything seems to work.

I just reinstalled karmic with the minimal cd
(here:https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/MinimalCD). The bug
is still there.

I'm trying to install a minimal Karmic base system with the netboot CD...
Problem is, even when I select no tasks whatsoever, it decides to pull in more

+ Edit: This also affects the minimal cd. (here:
+ https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/MinimalCD). Even if you
+ don't select any additional packages at install time (via tasksel), you
+ end up with stuff like open-office.org (without a desktop environment).

[Bug 213053] Re: Totem is 'uninterruptible'

2009-05-05 Thread zorpox
Unfortunately, this bug is not solved, as I'm experiencing it right now.
Totem eats 100% cpu and is completely nonresponsive. Killing X did not
help, nor did kill -9 pid. I'm running a fully upgraded clean intrepid
install.

[Bug 2067] Re: Problems with partitioning

2008-10-26 Thread zorpox
I have to report similar problems:

Partman failed recognize my partitions and just presented me with the
option to create new ones. The partition-structure was roughly similar
to the one mentioned in the bug report.

Unfortunately, my partition table was partially (!) corrupted anyway, so
I'm not sure whether this occurred because of the damage or because of
the distinct structure #1 mentioned. Yet, parted and fdisk were able to
read (and restore) it without problems so the problem seems to be with
partman.

[Bug 277418] Re: openoffice crashed inside the guest account

2008-10-24 Thread zorpox
It flicked by too fast to see. All I can say is that it happened during
the upgrade to Intrepid and I think it was something about javascript or
jre. If logs are created and someone tells me the right commands, I'll
post it here.

[Bug 262228] Re: Guest can log in only once, because of password?

2008-10-24 Thread zorpox
I'm still having this bug. But I also got 2 Guest accounts delivered
with intrepid: Guest session and Guest. Guest prompts for a password
and is inaccessibe, Guest session works. Don't know if this is
intended behavior but I think it's confusing to have two Guest-accounts.

I updated to Intepid from a Hardy-minimal installation.

Same problem here. Upgraded to Intrepid from a clean Hardy-minimal
installation. Then logged in as the main user, switched to guest-account
and tried Ooo.

During the installation of the open-office-package apt complained about
java, might be important.

[Bug 263140] Re: Hardy boot hangs with the message: ACPI: EC: non-query interrupt received, switching to interrupt mode

2008-09-16 Thread zorpox
I'm getting the same error message, but my laptop locks up completely at
this point (hard reboot needed). I read somewhere, that the same issue
affected Sony Vaio notebooks, so I guess that this might be connected.

Three oddities though:

Opening the cd-rom drive (only thing that works) will resume the boot process.
Disabling dma-mode seems to circumvent this issue.
The boot process of Damn Small Linux (currenct version) also generates this
issue.

[Bug 118605] this is not limited to ATI-hardware

2008-04-26 Thread zorpox
Similar problem here (Ubuntu 8.04, Intel 852 chipset).

When the X-server tries to do something, that makes the screen flicker
(switching users, logging out, shutting down), in 33% of all cases, the
system crashes completely (blank screen, absolutely nonresponsive to
anything).

The provided fix does NOT work for me, as I'm experiencing these problem
with an intel 852 chipset and the fix apparently only works for ATI-
hardware.

So, is there any workaround for non-Ati hardware (Intel anyone?)??
