[Bug 1218322] Re: Can't set keyboard layout change to alt+shift, ctrl+shift, etc.
I suspect there are also other related problems here. I always used the right control (while pressed) option, but since 13.10 it seems to identify the Right CTRL key the same as Right ALT on my keyboard. Is that normal??? Gnome-tweak-tool does not work here either, nothing I set there takes effect. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1218322 Title: Can't set keyboard layout change to alt+shift, ctrl+shift, etc. To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-settings-daemon/+bug/1218322/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1218322] Re: Can't set keyboard layout change to alt+shift, ctrl+shift, etc.
Sorry, the Right CTRL thing was unrelated... The PPA does the job, but obviously it's not the same as the good old options. Why the hell did they have to remove the button that brought up the advanced keyboard options from the Gnome settings? I just HATE when they keep removing good old things that worked, just to show people that they are actually doing something... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1218322 Title: Can't set keyboard layout change to alt+shift, ctrl+shift, etc. To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-settings-daemon/+bug/1218322/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

upgrading is not good. try to fire up a usb image and try if it it can connect in the live mode. the problem is probably with the upgrade. but first try to connect to a hidden network. I'm marking this again as new, cause the definition of invalid says that it should be a support request which it is not, because canonical cannot provide support to solve it. most people don't know what a CA certificate is, so you can't leave it this way, cause they will say, that ubuntu just cannot connect and they are moving back to windows... you have to consider what normal people will think about this. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1104476 Title: Network manager cannot connect to Eduroam (worldwide WiFi network for university students) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/1104476/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Nothing has changed so far... @Nyjk Kyjn I changed permissions on the folder '/usr/local/lexmark/lxk08/bin', then everything seems to go on right way could you explain how exactly did you change the permissions? with which command or so... I tried Ubuntu 11.04 and I can confirm that my printer works there too and in any previous Ubuntu release. so, the problem happened sometime between CUPS 1.4.6 and 1.5.0! my behaviour is 99% the same as Nyjk's, but for me the red exclamation mark next to the printer's icon never vanishes, but that one time when I managed to remove it, the subsequent message was something like no connection to the printer, so this is the only difference between our cases. @John Johansen I disabled apparmor at startup as you suggested in comment #10, so it is not apparmor that causes this. do you agree to remove it from the affected projects? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/908864 Title: My Lexmark x2650 printer stopped working after upgrading to 11.10: Idle - File /usr/local/lexmark/lxk08/bin/printdriver has insecure permissions (0100775/uid=0/gid=2). [Bug 912442] [NEW] If text in Panel's pop-up contains the _ character, the character disappears when pointer leaves the window
Public bug reported: usually the character _ disappears completely (joining more words into one), other times it turns into an underline of the following character. this happens also sometimes when the pointer leaves the window without losing the focus (no subwindow opens), the most likely in the Bookmarks menu on the Desktop or in Nautilus, if you have a bookmarked folder containing this character in the name. this is obviously caused by the fact that the underlines of a letter mark the keyboard shortcuts to activate a function without clicking on it,, but when the window loses the focus, this character disappears even if it is a regular part of the text... watch the screencast ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.10 Package: unity 4.24.0-0ubuntu2b1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.0.0-14.23-generic 3.0.9 Uname: Linux 3.0.0-14-generic i686 ApportVersion: 1.23-0ubuntu4 Architecture: i386 CompizPlugins: [core, bailer, detection, composite, opengl, compiztoolbox, decor, vpswitch, widget, mousepoll, resize, place, session, move, regex, snap, animation, imgpng, gnomecompat, wall, grid, unitymtgrabhandles, workarounds, animationaddon, expo, ezoom, fade, scale, unityshell] Date: Thu Jan 5 20:05:53 2012 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot - Beta i386 (20110921.2) ProcEnviron: PATH=(custom, no user) LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: unity UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: unity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug i386 oneiric running-unity -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/912442 Title: If text in Panel's pop-up contains the _ character, the character disappears when pointer leaves the window To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/912442/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

@John Johansen: I have tried all u suggested and the problem will indeed not be in Apparmor. [Bug 910262] [NEW] Chromium unable to download files from certain common websites including images of Ubuntu

The sites that do not work are for instance: http://releases.ubuntu.com/lucid/ or http://www.megaupload.com/?d=M9X4BYB8. No other files work from these sites. Public bug reported: I used Ubuntu 9.04 for a long time and the driver available on the manufacturer's site: http://support.lexmark.com/index?page=contentid=DR860actp=searchviewlocale=en_USsegment=SUPPORTproductCode=LEXMARK_X2650locale=ENuserlocale=EN_USsearchid=1324929199490 worked perfectly! after installing the newest Ubuntu, I can't even finish the installation process of the driver, the Setup says no connection, even though there is connection to the printer, because it appears in the list of printers when introduced to the USB. from what I have learnt on the web, recent changes in Cups and AppArmor caused that the connection to a printer with 3rd party driver is often blocked. but this is too high a game for me to solve here... have tried in another machine too, the same result, which means that THIS PRINTER JUST STOPPED WORKING IN LINUX at all. That is sad. I have to go back to older Ubuntu's just for the printer! This is insane. See my debugging results. [Bug 843256] [NEW] any window should be able to fit into a netbook screen, if not it should be scrollable at least
Public bug reported: there is a couple of windows that are too large for my 10'' screen, f.e. -the Preferences window in Nautilus -Compiz config settings manager -and certainly others too. I used to work it around by decreasing the system font. and not everybody knows that you can move the window by Alt+Button 1. in windows XP, these windows move automatically up and down after you cross the half of the screen with the pointer. in terms of this, windows is more desktop optimised... so how about a similar solution or integrate scrollability? [Bug 782640] Re: Unity Panel: in Nautilus the Bookmarks menu has icons for the bookmarked folders, which disappear when you click on one
I have also realized the problem with the indent, and it's also present in the Go menu in Nautilus. in the Go menu, the indent is always slid. in the Bookmarks menu it's only slid after the icons disappear, that's how it behaves for me... e.g.: some entries should have icons, but sometimes they do not. and when the icons are not there THAT IS WHEN THE INDENT SLIDES too. is it how your system behaves? [Bug 527458] Re: please include status messages/tooltips
treviňo and matthew, what exactly did you mean by clicking? unconsistency of the animation of the sliding icons, or collision with the fading part of the window title? well, it is a difficult question, I am not a developer... but I really can imagine it to work. however, the second idea treviňo gave is not good for me, we are trying to use space in the most efficient way, so imagine that u have to look on the icon just to be able to hit it with the pointer and then u have to look somewhere else. it is not logical to have the info so far away form the icon it belongs to, clicking or no clicking, the first idea is still something to consider. there has been many suggestions, but when I read the one with sliding icons, I could imagine it right away, which is not true about any other here. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/527458 Title: please include status messages/tooltips To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/indicator-application/+bug/527458/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 527458] Re: please include status messages/tooltips
damn, treviňo's idea is a break-through! but I would rather suggest the extra information to be not the title of the icon, but real extra info, like volume percentage, wifi signal strength, or all undisplayed data in the calendar (like weekday, ...). u could also consider putting (the now missing) weather info into this. but anything u put there, treviňo's idea (with sliding icons showing more info on the space that has been freed up) is the best damn solution from all those 202 comments and I read all of them!! this is not just practical and beautiful, but would also nicely fit into unity...
