A few minutes ago, I've successfully (and without any problems) installed OpenShot v1.4.3-1 from their PPA (http://openshot.org/ppa/). It seems to use libmlt5 now and doesn't conflict with kdenlive anymore. To me, the problem is that kdenlive depends on libmlt5, while openshot depends on libmlt4, but libmlt5 conflicts with libmlt4. Definitely, openshot should be updated to use the new version of libmlt.
