There is no way to switch the wallpaper file during a session yet, but you can set it in weston.ini before starting a session. See the weston.ini man page, SHELL SECTION. man weston.ini from weston.ini: [shell] background-image=file What should be the expected behavior? It's possible to configure the background. Setting invalid, because this is a support request. If you need the ability to configure the background on-the-fly, please reopen and state it explicitly. I have serious doubts that this will change. In no small part due to my belief that weston has no ability to read a centralized config file (no /etc/weston in which to specify an ubuntu wallpaper). I believe weston is not intended to ever be used, directly, by many people.
