Official support for Ubuntu 7.04 "Feisty Fawn" and Ubuntu 8.10 "Intrepid Ibex" has ended. I confirm this on Intrepid. Ubuntu intrepid ibex 8.10 Out of the box mms wmv streaming does not work. Firefox will search for suitable codecs. After installation (2 rounds, forst "bad" gstreamer codecs and then 2 additional gstramer codec packs) the stream will play but the it is jerky. Ie stream will play fluently about 0.3 sec and then halt for a 0.05 sec or something like that. I stream from yle areena. News service should be at adress http://areena.yle.fi/hae?cid=164618 Most of the news should be viewable out side of Finland Jerky stream display problem can be fixed by installing xine back end totem. (At least it worked once for me.) Unfortunatelly in my experience this does not provide 100% reliable mms wmv streaming.
